Enough with the crummy news already–let’s relax with our pets.
That business with the hedgehog reminds me of when I discovered, as a kid, that if I rubbed my pet lizards’ bellies, with would put them into something like a hypnotic trance. I’ll bet the same thing happened with that hedgehog.
I’ve never had a pet guinea pig, and I’m sure I missed out on a good thing. I really love those floppy ears, and that sound they make. I don’t love the combination of guinea pigs and water beds, but that’s another story.
I knew some hippies once who wanted to train their dog to be a vegetarian. So the dog ate their guinea pigs.
This video tells a much happier story. I can’t tell if the guinea pig is that large or the dog is that small–but they sure do love each other’s company.
What is this–a Freddy the Pig book? All these animals need is to start their own newspaper…
Nah. It’s just a cat, a hamster, and two parakeets in happy harmony: don’t you wish you could join this bunch? I don’t know, I think maybe God is trying to show us something. Something it would be good for us to see.
Among this selection of confused pets, keep your eye out for something you may not have ever seen before–a pet bush baby. Wow! These other-worldly-looking critters are primates, distant kind to lemurs.
We also have a raccoon, rat, goat, parakeet, and a bunch of dogs and cats. All trying to make sense of humans.
Baby goats usually bounce around like they’re on springs; but look what happens when you add a trampoline. Note the grown-up goat who remains safely on the ground: there are old goats and bold goats, but no old, bold goats. And note the dog yapping in the background because he wants to get in on the fun.
There’s so much more to animals than anyone but Walter R. Brooks ever thought.
Great supporting cast of cats and birds, a baby llama, and an otter: but the dog who thinks he’s a superball takes the cake. Although I have to give high marks to the parakeet who’s trying to balance on a tennis ball and steer it across the room. I wish I had a video of my cat Henry arguing with me over the Strat-O-Matic game, but these will do just as well.
I admit the cat video was rather short; so here’s a guinea pig to take up the slack.
This guinea pig was a Christmas present to the child in this video, and as you can see, they’re playing together. Unless the guinea pig is thoroughly reconnoitering the house in search of a nice water bed. And guess what happens if he finds one.
We’ve never had guinea pigs or chinchillas, but we did have rats and they were wonderful pets–affectionate, smart, clean, and easy to care for. The only problem: whenever we turned out the lights to go to bed, the two rat sisters started fighting and you would hear thump-thump-thump-bump-SQUEEEAK! Turn the lights back on, and instantly they would be pretending nothing had happened. “I dunno, I didn’t hear no squeaking, did you hear a squeak? Look at us, we’re just sitting here nice and peaceful…” But they never did each other an injury, and the second time you turned the lights out, they’d behave themselves.
Warning: If you have a chinchilla who thinks he’s a cat, don’t let him near the toilet paper.
