Teddy the Talking Porcupine

Teddy Bear the porcupine has been given a piece of corn on the cob–and listen to him, when they try to take it back! You can almost make out what he’s saying… and remember, he is talking with his mouth full.

Marvelously Good Dogs

Time for a sanity break!

I can hardly believe the dogs in this video. Whether it’s fetching beer from the refrigerator, helping a kitten up a flight of stairs, or tucking in a baby who’s kicked off his blanket, here are dogs who are up to the challenge. One of ’em can even catch fish. Maybe Nana in “Peter Pan” wasn’t such an exaggeration, after all.

Hard to believe these are the same animals who sometimes roll in nasty things.

But one thing they are is God’s stuff, and God’s stuff is always good.

Don’t Cry, Baby–Kitty’s Here

Go ahead, tell me this cat doesn’t know what she’s doing!

Really, how cool is this? Baby starts to cry, kitty springs into action, and there we have it–baby is comforted.

God’s stuff is awesome!

Equal Time: Cats vs. Doorstoppers

Well, I couldn’t find a video of adult human beings beguiled by a springy door stopper, but here are some cats going to town on them. And how!

This reminds me of our cat, Buster, who could derive much pleasure from plucking at a rubber band to make it go Boing. But then most things gave him pleasure.

God’s stuff: always, always good for you.

More of God’s Wonderful Stuff: Owls

Notice I am not writing anything today about our impending political firestorm, two days from now. Instead, let’s have a look at some of God’s stuff–at owls.

Animals are not “just animals.” Look how these owls respond to affection! Even when they get it from a dog. Whether it’s an owl delighting in being cuddled and petted (even by a dog!), allowing itself to be blow-dried–how smart does an “animal” have to be, to be that adaptable?–or keeping time with human music coming out of a hand-held electronic gizmo, you just have to be amazed at what love can do.

I think God wants it that way.

God’s stuff: it always works, and it’s always good for us.

The Incredible Walking Worm

Hi, Mr. Nature here! Allow me to introduce you to Peripatus, a neat little critter which I call “the walking worm.” It’s sort of like an earthworm, sort of like a caterpillar, but not really like either one. I would like to have some in an aquarium but Mrs. Nature won’t let me.

These walking worms live in warm climates around the world, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. They eat small insects, which they capture by spraying stuff at them which hardens on contact, immobilizing the prey. These animals would be great for law enforcement if they were the size of German shepherds. You’d just have to train them not to eat the suspects.

I can’t help thinking God must have smiled when He created these. I’m sure I would’ve.

Video Treat: More Sleepy Peepies

What makes sleepy little animals so appealing? Search me. They just are.

God’s stuff: it always works, and it’s always good for us.

Bonus Video: Owl Loves Man Who Rescued Her

This great horned owl was badly injured by a passing car, rescued and nursed back to health by this man at the shelter. See the bond that has joined them. Who knew an owl could love so beautifully? God’s stuff: it always works, and it’s always good for us.

P.S.–Does anybody know the name of that haunting piece of music in the background?

Your Cat Loves You

And let’s wrap it up today with something completely wholesome, something which we never, never would have thought of, if we had been creating the world, but which God did–the experience of being loved by your cat.

This is God’s stuff, and it always works, and it’s always good for us. He doesn’t charge us for it, either.

Sanity Break: Kittens Sleeping in Your Hands

Welcome to one of those little corners of Creation which God has reserved for the health of our souls.

Go ahead–see if you can beat having a tiny kitten fall asleep in your hands. I don’t think you can!
