Now I’m Sick

I’m going to go back to bed now, as soon as I finish posting this. If I try to stay up, I’ll fall out of the chair.

Patty feels much better this morning, thank you, Lord–because yesterday I was savaged by allergies and today feels just as awful. I’m hoping a few hours’ more rest will restore me to functioning.

I hope you can browse and enjoy the blog archives while I’m out of the saga. Please pray for me.

Back Home

Patty had a good nap as yesterday evening drew on, then got up and announced she felt much better–thank God for that.

We need a nice, quiet weekend. I wonder if we can get one.

Thank you all for your prayers.

Home from the Hospital

Please keep praying for us, because Patty had a bad reaction to the anesthetic and, although they sent her home late this afternoon, she feels miserable.

I really hope Saturday sees her better. They say it takes 24 hours to work its way out of one’s system.

Surgery Tomorrow (Pray for Us)

No, it won’t be Mr. Bean… we hope.

We have to be at the hospital at 8:00 tomorrow morning for Patty’s hernia surgery. We are told she’ll be walking about of there sometime around 2 p.m.

That’s a huge deal better than I expected.

Meanwhile, I hope I can find some opportunity to post a thing or two tomorrow. (There’s always the Archives, by the way.) We are cautiously expecting this caper to turn out well, Lord willing.

Bonus Video: Lizard Who Lives Like a Dog

I’ve had a lot of pet lizards. Here’s a monitor lizard who has the run of the house (“Oh, boy, dog-food!”). My iguana slept in his cage and did his, er, business there, but the rest of the time he was on the loose. He was good at making friends with dogs and cats. I’m telling you–there’s more to lizard-minds and hearts than you might think. So much more!

Surgery Postponed

Just letting you know that Patty’s hernia surgery, originally scheduled for this Thursday, has been pushed back toward the end of the month. That’s where it gets frustrating! Please continue to pray for us.

‘Bonus Video: Baby Iguanas’ (2019)

A baby iguana will grow up into a very good pet if you take the time to teach and bond with him. They’re social animals, so you can’t just stick ’em in a cage and think they’ll turn out right.

Besides, the baby iguanas are awfully cute.

My sister once had to give my full-grown iguana a bath (it’s a long story). She was amazed at how tame and gentle he was. But that’s what you get when you raise ’em right.

Who knew God could (and did!) put that in a lizard?

Yes, It’s a Hernia

(Heh-heh-heh-heh….!)

So we went to the doctor yesterday and yep, it’s a hernia, all right–surgery required! But not yet. Not so fast there, Patricia. First comes a cascade of bureaucracy. Sign this, sign that, go to this office, go to that office… and sometime down the road they will actually do the surgery.

For the time being, however long that is, Patty can’t lift anything; and she’d better lay off the bungee-jumping and the break-dancing, too.

We’d appreciate your prayers.

Don’t you just hate it when an appliance wears out and you have to replace it with something that’s several generations of technology removed from the old one, and “some assembly required”?

Our New Toaster Oven

Our toaster oven that was new and challenging in 2018 is not new anymore. But the toilet flapper I installed is still working!

Special Treat, ‘The Christmas Tree’

I can’t help feeling I didn’t do right by Christmas this past year. Didn’t put lights on our little tree, didn’t decorate the wreath–just sort of went through the motions. We were still pretty down about losing Peep… and I was tired, don’t know why.

So I’ve prayed a special prayer, asking the Lord to help me keep Christmas throughout the year and to appreciate it with all my heart, when Christmas comes around again.

Here’s a sweet and harmless Christmas carol–The Christmas Tree, by David Rose. A Christmas tune in February–well, why not?
