How Do We Walk by Faith?

One Must Be Ordained

I’ve always found it difficult to understand the Bible’s instruction to us to “walk by faith and not by sight.” How do you do that?

In Walking By Faith When We See Only Problems, Mark Rushdoony tackles that hard question.

“Walking by faith” does not mean “be oblivious to what you see.” It means to try to understand what you see in terms of what God is doing. “Our faith in what God is doing,” Mark writes, “must give us perspective and direction.”

Walking just by sight, “we see one mess after another.” That’s for sure. You can’t even talk sports or the weather anymore without igniting a political argument. Statism, as R.J. Rushdoony so often observed, is in its death throes–which means something will have to replace it.

God’s Kingdom is forever, and will replace all worldly kingdoms.

‘The Next Phase of History’

Image result for images of titanic sinking

In light of some of the totally daft public policies and cultural spasms we’ve been reading about this week, we might well ask, “What is the next phase of history?”

https://chalcedon.edu/blog/the-next-phase-of-history

Mark Rushdoony has a thoughtful essay–and in it, I think, he’s dug his way down to the heart of the matter.

Humanism, now embracing and promoting such total irrationalities as “transgender” and “open borders,” while at the same time proclaiming the imminent end of the world unless we all do exactly as they tell us–humanism has embraced its own destruction.

Because, as Mark says, reality is real and cannot be pushed aside by any amount of wishful thinking.

And it will devour those irrationalities.

What will replace humanism? We pray it will be a new growth in God’s Kingdom on the earth–which we can already see happening in such unlikely places as China and Iran.

I look forward to the day when “gender fluid” will be of interest only to cryptozoologists.

An Evil Quote to Remember

As we struggle to understand why, why, why the leaders of the Western world are so hell-bent on destroying every last vestige of sexual morality, it may be helpful to bear in mind this quote by Aldous Huxley, best known as the author of Brave New World:

“We objected to the morality [Christian morality] because it interfered with our sexual freedom… There was an admirably simple method of confuting these people [Christians] and justifying ourselves in our erotic revolt: we would deny that the world had any meaning whatever.” ( https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/sexual-freedom )

What a putz. But you can’t say his advice hasn’t been followed to the letter. At least Huxley was honest enough to stress the profoundly anti-Christian nature of his enterprise. His successors today are as immoral as he was, but also hypocrites.
