Quick, Hurry, S.O.S.–More Views!

WordPress has just informed me I have 666 views for the week. Ai-ya!

Quick, more views! That “666” gives me the willies.

The sooner we get rid of it, the better.

A FEW MINUTES LATER: Whew! Close call, eh? But now we’re in the 670’s, out of the woods, all’s well.

Welcome Back, Joshua (and Just a Few Thoughts on Other Things)

For those of you who haven’t read the comments, our esteemed colleague Joshua has returned to us. It turns out he just felt like taking a break from social media. Dude, that’s all right–but next time, just mention it to somebody. So we don’t have to worry about the corny-virus getting you.

May was cruising along swimmingly until this past week. I don’t know about the virus, but this blog’s curve got flattened, but good. Yesterday was the lowest viewership we’ve had in years. The whole week was pretty poor, and wiped out May’s chance of being our first 12,000-view month.

Thing is, I am totally mystified as to what causes this. If only I knew! Then I could avoid it. Not even Byron the Quokka was able to get this week kick-started. Was it something I said?

I missed the new Father Brown season. In the first episode, the priest gives a wink and a nod to a lesbian relationship; and the second episode, which we turned off some ten minutes into the show, was shaping up to be about your friendly neighborhood abortionist with a heart of gold.

Our problem is not just that we follow false prophets. We also follow insane and stupid prophets and never, ever gain by it. What do we get for turning our culture inside-out to accommodate transgender wackos? Absolutely nothing–and we incur a spiritual pollution, to boot.

Are we capable of learning from our errors? Are we able to hear warnings? Are we able to see it when things go very, very wrong?

Heaven help us if we aren’t.

The New Record

All the results are in; and in case you were curious about it, the new viewership record that we set here the other day is 849. And if only I knew what set it off! Whatever it was, I’d do it on purpose. Just might sell some books!

But really, 849–that’s like two way better than average days put together. And I have no idea what made it happen.

So that’s it for now. The old record of 644 stood for two and a half years. I wonder how long this one will stand. The fun’s over, it seems, but it was great while it lasted.

We’ve Broken the Record!

Today we’ve set a new record for this blog–732 views, with most of the night still to go.

It’s as good an excuse as any for posting another picture of a Baluchitherium. And I don’t want to hear any of this “Paleoloxodon” stuff! The biggest-ever land mammal is Baluchitherium. Ask King Ryons!

Anyway, the old record was 644, Nov. 7, 2016–and I wish I knew how blogs get hot like that, so I could do it on purpose. I might even be able to sell some books.

Thank you, thank you, everybody who stopped in today. And I hope I see you again tomorrow.

And now, on to cat video…

P.S.–The new record now stands at 849 views, Feb. 26, 2019. I wonder if we’ll ever break it.

What’s Goin’ On Here?

While we enjoy Bert Kaempfert’s 1960s classic, Afrikaan Beat, I can wonder what’s going on with this blog today. As I write this, we have 585 views–585!–and 327 referrals from Facebook, well over the daily average of, oh, 13 or 14. The record is 644 views on Nov. 7, 2016; and today we’re making a run at breaking it.

Does anybody out there know a lot about blogging? If so, can you clue me in? Like, we’ve got some 350 views Hyfrydol, a Welsh hymn I posted… a couple of years ago. Why is it so hot today? What factors might have come into play, to pump up the viewership? If I could only understand it, maybe I could learn how to do it on purpose.

Well, I’ve got to tear myself away to write my weekly Newswithviews column. I’ll check our stats again after I’ve finished.

Someone out there must know more about blogging than I do. I am merely dazzled by it all.

(And now it’s 590–wahoo!)
