Roly-Poly Hamsters

A couple different people have told me that the video I posted yesterday, of cats reacting to cat videos, occasioned some consternation among their own cats. Well, I don’t want to acquire that kind of reputation. This evening, instead of cats or dogs, I offer hamsters. No one really notices whether hamsters like a video or not. They mostly keep those opinions to themselves.

Cats React to Cat Videos

For the most part, my cats show little or no interest in video, although they might investigate if it’s really loud meowing or growling. But I am so happy they don’t walk around on the keyboard. I’m sure there’s a little-used combination of keystrokes that gives the computer a command to turn everything you write into gibberish and make his food clay, his drink ashes. A cat, in making his rounds up and down the keyboard, is sure to step on those very keys.

(What made you think I have computer phobia?)

Bunnies & Babies

I can just hear my mother scream as she turns around to fine one of her babies going kissy-kissy mouth to mouth with a rabbit. And I would say the same about a baby sharing finger food with a bunny, only in these videos, the rabbit mostly steals the snack from the baby, who is left with one of those “What just happened?” looks on his face.

But who ever heard of a baby or a bunny getting too much cuddling?

Snow Dogs

Never outdone in the quest for fun! C’mon, dogs! Let’s go out there and show those cats how to really have fun in the snow–especially when it’s slippery!

I wonder now–are there any videos of hamsters making merry in the snow?

Snow Cats

Our cat Henry used to blame me if it snowed. He didn’t like to get his paws wet or cold. He’d give me a really dirty look if it happened.

But not the cats in these videos! They’re having a blast.

It is said that President Grant had cats that used to make snowmen. Said by whom, I don’t recall.

The Upside-Down Hamster & Others

Ten quick little video vignettes, featuring, among others, an upside-down hamster, a puppy and a kitten getting started on a lifelong friendship, and a tarantula that can sing classic Bob Dylan songs.

All right, I made that up about the tarantula. I hope it piqued your curiosity.

How Cats Defend Us from Drones

To us they’re gimmicky toys; but what’s a cat supposed to make of flying drones? It’s obviously some nasty alien thing, probably some new kind of giant insect, that’s invaded the home and needs to be smacked down.

You could make a pretty cool “Twilight Zone” episode about pint-sized space travelers trying to escape the attentions of a giant cat.

Cats with Attitude

My cats must be furry saints or something. They don’t do any of this stuff.

But I couldn’t help enjoying the two kittens going bananas over a tiny bit of peeling wallpaper. I wonder what they thought it was!

Dogs & Babies: Peek-a-Boo

If you can get past the little baby hiding from the dog by wearing someone’s shirt over his head while he crawls around and giggles, you’ll find some more cute clips waiting for you. Hey, what is it about dogs that makes human babies laugh so hard? If babies could only tell us what they’re thinking–!

The Cat’s in the Bag

The dumbest thing cats do–otherwise intelligent animals–is to get themselves stuck in plastic bags. I’ll never forget the night my poor Missy got herself involved with a plastic bag. I had a hard time catching her to take it off. She really was terrified; but some of the cats in these videos seem more like they’re playing.

Cats get stuck in plastic bags, and humans take out student loans.
