Let’s see if I can sing this without starting to cry. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey…” Nope. No can do.
When I was a very little boy with fantods in the night, my father would get up and pick me up, and sing this song to me. How well I remember that. “You’ll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away.” And he meant every word of it. That’s why it moves me so.
Anyway, here are our own Swanson brothers, Joshua and Jeremy, with their rendition of the songs. Nice work, guys! Got me all sappy. But that’s OK.
Here’s another treat from our own dear friends and colleagues, Joshua and Jeremy (where have you guys been all week?)–Will the Circle Be Unbroken. We have to give them more encouragement to sing as they play, so let’s do that.
This is Joshua and Jeremy’s Mother’s Day present to their mother: the ancient hymn, Be Thou My Vision, still much-loved today, some 1,300 years after it was first sung; and here we have it sung in Japan–a country those old Irish monks never knew existed. They world has changed an awful lot, but this hymn remains the same.
Enjoy this bonus hymn by our own esteemed colleagues and dear friends, Joshua and Jeremy: Yesterday, Today, Forever (Jesus is the Same). I’m sure this is the first time I’ve heard them sing, so let’s cheer them on and give them confidence. Huzzah!
