One more Burl Ives hymn, all right? In the Sweet By and By…
I’ve reached the age where there are more people waiting for me in the sweet by and by than are waiting for me here.
One more Burl Ives hymn, all right? In the Sweet By and By…
I’ve reached the age where there are more people waiting for me in the sweet by and by than are waiting for me here.
This hymn just might take your breath away–When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. Written by Isaac Watts in 1707, performed by the Esh Family: background sets by God the Father, maker of heaven and earth.
I reckon a lot of us can use this hymn today–You Raise Me Up, performed by Celtic Woman.
Raise us up, O Lord, as only you can do! We need it.
He is what the world needs, now as much as ever.
Christ for the World We Sing–as a recessional for the congregation and choir at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City.
Here’s another Charles Wesley hymn by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band–Lo He Comes with Clouds Descending. This is the event longed for by every Christian in the world.
And in the meantime: sing, pray, work.
After perusing more nooze than is good for me, I need to lift up mine eyes unto the hills and rinse out my brain. So I hope you don’t mind another hymn
Why this one? I don’t know. It’s been on my mind all day, and I think that means I ought to post it.
To God Be the Glory, by Fanny Crosby: sung by the Apostolic Christian Men’s Group. Background sets by God the Father.
Phoebe asked for more hymns by Burl Ives, so more hymns by Burl Ives we’ve got.
I don’t often post The Old Rugged Cross. If it brings a tear to your eye, that’s okay. I know a swordsman who has that reaction, too.
Okay! We’ve finally got Joshua and Jeremy singing, so let’s give them a big hand! Well, we can’t really do that on computers, but you know what I mean.
This is Psalm 51 set to music–the Psalm David wrote when he realized how grievously he’d sinned in taking Bathsheba for his wife after arranging for her husband, Uriah, to be killed in battle. We all need to prayer this prayer: “Create in me a clean heart and a right spirit.”
Requested by Erlene, sung by girls from Fountainview Academy, and filmed on Moonstone Beach, California–Create in Me a Clean Heart.
We do have some hymn requests today, but first, this–Come, Thou Almighty King, sung by the congregation and choir at Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, California. This hymn was with me all last night–and that means “share it.”
If you’re new here, we like to start each blogging day with a hymn, and we love to take hymn requests. So if you’ve got one, just leave a comment anywhere and we’ll do the rest.
