What’ll I Write for Newswithviews?

Why do cats go batshit crazy in the middle of the night? |

While Big Tech plays with the search engines to make conservative blog posts hard to find, we can do nothing but hang on and put our trust in God. So we keep on working.

I try to write my weekly Newswithviews piece on Tuesday. I’ve got an idea that won’t go away. I’d like to know what my blog readers think of it.

Three abominations have been imposed on America in my lifetime: abortion; normalization of homosexuality; and “transgender.” All three were once considered sins (if a man running around asserting he was a woman was worth considering at all). All three are now in that “How dare you!” category: no criticism allowed.

We also have Criticial Race Theory, which they’re trying to load onto us, but that’s suddenly run into unexpected opposition. Really, you’ve got to sneak these things into the culture, not bring them on with a brass band. You want people to wake up wondering whether someone moved them to another country while they slept.

Big Tech, the Democrat Party, and our Free & Independent Nooze Media are doing their damnedest (and I do mean “damned”) to “fundamentally transform” America into a gigantic mental hospital run by inmates.

Pushback has only just started. They had to steal our presidential election to get our attention.

Pray it hasn’t started too late.

This Should Scare You

We were watching Brokenwood last night–a New Zealand crime drama series–and enjoying it, when, about three-quarters of the way through the episode, the story turned into a commercial for homosexuality.

I am sure New Zealand used to be a Christian country. Rev. Robinson, who taught our confirmation class, was from New Zealand. Cool accent and all. But that was in the 1960s.

As the Brokenwood screenplay would have you believe, every sane and decent person now accepts and affirms homosexuality as something worthy of congratulation: for all the characters in the episode except, of course, the villain, this is a given. They would stare at you in disbelief if you betrayed the slightest hint of “homophobia.”

See, the only individuals–few and far between!–who could entertain the slightest misgivings about homosexuality only do so because they are hopelessly mired in the distant past. Relics of the Victorian Era. Maybe even of the Stone Age. In addition to being mean-spirited and bad, they must also be totally out to lunch. And so on.

In the world that I grew up in, which was not the Victorian Era, homosexuality was universally condemned, mostly as a sin. That standard, found in Jewish and Christian morality, stood unchanged for thousands of years. And then, suddenly, it was gone, thrown down, broken and rejected. In my own lifetime. It happened right before my own eyes, and I can’t tell you how it happened. By the end of the 20th century it was the “gays” who were the cat’s pajamas, morally, and we who had not changed our core beliefs–we were enemies of the people.

I am troubled that such a radical change in moral standards could be imposed on all of Western civilization in such a very short time. Are we no better than walking, talking lumps of Play-Doh, to be molded into anything our rulers please? “Okay, that worked! Now gay is good and it’s a sin to say it’s a sin! And the next item on the agenda is…” What? What are they going to change for us next? Is that what the whole transgender thing is all about? Ten years from now, will it be viewed as really weird retro behavior not to have your toddler surgically mutilated to “change” his or her “gender”? Or will they think of something even more grotesque than that?

If people are as malleable as modeling clay, why have we never been able to mold them to be good? Why is it so easy to mold them to be bad? You can’t make marital fidelity cool and trendy; but it seems any conceivable form of sexual immorality will enjoy its day in the sun.

O Lord our God! Remember that these things are done without our consent, against our will, and over our objections.

What We’re Up Against

We don’t have television in our home, so I miss some of what is going on with our culture. But I went to the eye doctor today, so I saw more TV than is good for me.

Bad enough there was an alleged newscast in which the alleged newsman prattled, “So Trump likes torture! Hey, that’s bad news for Melania!” No media bias here. And bad enough it was followed by a Democrat commercial urging the public to “stand with Governor Cuomo and Senator Schumer to preserve your right to healthcare!” By preserving Obamacare, is what they meant. Those things were annoying, but not unexpected.

What really threw me was a Hallmark commercial which proclaimed, loud and clear, that the famous card company has gone over to the dark side.

Valentine’s Day. Scenes of long-term, loving marriages, one after another. And old people with their grandchildren. Very sweet. And just thrown in, alongside unions sanctified by God, a couple of homosexual “marriage” proposals and anniversaries. Not sanctified by God, but condemned in Scripture as mortal sin.

When I looked on youtube afterward, I was horrified to discover that Hallmark has produced many TV ads along these lines. No, I will not post any of them.

We all have sins to fight against, and sometimes sin wins. Otherwise, we wouldn’t need a Savior and God would not have had to send His Son to earth.  Fornication in all its varied forms has always been with us.

But what’s different in our time is the all-out efforts by important, wealthy, powerful and influential people to rebrand sin as virtue and convince the rest of us to “celebrate” it. This is more than ordinary sin. This is worse. They do it to make more money. They do it to get more power. And it is by their work that Satan seeks to establish his kingdom on the earth. His parody of Christ’s Kingdom.

Our culture is being corrupted and debauched. We have a thousand Jeroboams out there, going all-out to make the people sin. To estrange them from their God who loves them. To lead them into condemnation. This, I do believe, is the Babylon discussed in Revelation: which God has marked for destruction. I am afraid that this is our Babylon.

I doubt we have the strength to stop it. That is something God will do. It’ll be hard enough for us just not to give in to it: to hold out, to be faithful, to endure until the end. Not to accept it. No matter how many politicians, teachers and professors, big corporations, and bent churchmen try to make us accept it.

Because even if everyone else in the world declares it’s right… it will still be wrong.
