A Word of Prayer (Christian Bloggers)

Our friend SlimJim’s blog, The Domain for Truth, exhorts us today, “This Sunday at church, pray for those who lost someone in their family this year.”

This Sunday at Church: Pray for those who lost someone in their family this year

I thank God no one in my family has been taken away this year so far… maybe because there are so few of us left. But 2018 was a bad year: Aunt Joan, Patty’s brother Ray, and a couple of our long-time friends. As John Donne observed, the bell always tolls.

We don’t go to despair–or at least shouldn’t go–like the heathen who have no hope. We are promised eternal life. In the fullness of Christ’s Kingdom, all that was lost shall be restored.

It’s still hard to carry on without our loved ones, though.

Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

And it’s what we need.

‘Is It Okay to Make Images?’ (Christian Bloggers)

Ark of the Covenant - And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. Make one cherub on one end an… | Arc of the covenant, The

Once again our friend and colleague SlimJim tackles a claim of Biblical contradiction made by the Skeptic Annotated Bible.

Are we allowed to create images of living things, or explicitly forbidden by God’s word?

Bible Contradiction? Is it OK to make images?

I have a hard time imagining the mental landscape or the spiritual poverty of persons who devote themselves to “disproving the Bible.”

The images of cherubims on the Ark and on the curtains of the tabernacle–of course they were okay. What is not okay in the Bible is to create some kind of image and then worship it as an idol. Making images is permitted. Worshipping images is not.

Today people still worship the work of their hands–Science and technology, political parties, their own image in the mirror, etc., etc. We’re much too sophisticated to carve a face into a piece of firewood and then bow down to it.

But heathen foolishness is still very much with us.

Let’s Help SlimJim (His Post on the Trinity)

We ran this post by our dear friend and colleague, “SlimJim,” back in October. Today he plans to post it on the social media–and I say let’s help him. Because he is sharing an “amazing truth that God will be sent to us.”

Fascinating: Messianic Prophecy and Trinity in Isaiah 48:12-16

We can help by picking up his post and sharing it with others. Hey, it’s a Bible study lesson, and today is Sunday–the subject and the day are perfect together.

This is the Good News that we are commissioned to proclaim.

‘Some Quick Thoughts on the Authority of Christ’ (Christian Bloggers)

cross

Here’s a short but filling theological lunch prepared by our friend SlimJim, of the Domain for Truth blog.

Quick Thoughts on the authority of Christ in book of Matthew

What, exactly, is Christ’s authority? Who gave it to Him? How does He exercise it? And how are we to respond to it? It’s amazing how many clear answers to those questions can be found in just the Book of Matthew.

I try to promote the work of my fellow Christian bloggers. Big Tech tries to keep us down, so we need to help each other. If you have a Christian blog and would like me to display some of your work here, please let me know.

Messianic Prophecy, With Trinity, in Isaiah 48: 12-16 (Christian Blogger)

Again we visit our friend Slimjim’s “Domain for Truth” blog, to examine a prophecy by Isaiah featuring, we think, the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and an introduction to the Holy Trinity.

Fascinating: Messianic Prophecy and Trinity in Isaiah 48:12-16

How many times does Jesus say this in the Gospel–“the Lord God has sent Me”? But we hear it first in Isaiah.

There’s always something new to find in Bible study.

I display posts by fellow Christian bloggers because I think it’s very important that we help each other spread the word. There are those who try to hold us back.

‘Continue to Pray for Christians Remaining in Afghanistan’ (Christian Blogger)

We have this from our friend SlimJim’s “Veritas Domain” blog (aka The Domain for Truth):

The Church during 2021: Continue to Pray for the Christians remaining in Afghanistan

Do you want to know why Paul said we ought to pray unceasingly? Look at this world of 2021! When we say Christians in Afghanistan are in danger, we mean in danger of being killed. This is not Canada or California, where they just shut down the churches. This is where they kill you.

There is a prayer request video embedded in the text.

Will the Church in Afghanistan be able to survive at all? Western churches don’t do much to protect persecuted Christians in China, India, and elsewhere. Often there really isn’t much they can do.

But we are all in this together, and we need our prayers.

‘The Grace of God’ (Christian Blogger)

We continue to do our best to give exposure to the work of our fellow Christian bloggers and, hopefully, to add to their readership. Big Tech is whittling down our audience, so we have to help each other.

Today’s essay on the Grace of God comes from our friend and colleague SlimJim from his blog, Veritas Domain.

God’s attribute: The Grace of God Part 2

Here we learn that “grace” is possessed and employed by all three Persons of the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–as clearly taught throughout the Bible; and that “grace” is best understood as “unmerited favor,” God’s free gift to us. We don’t deserve it, but we have it!

It’s a long lesson, but full of spiritual nourishment.

Persecution and the Believer, Part 2 (Christian Blogger)

Many of us are convinced that persecution of Christians is already under way–and that you don’t have to go all the way to China to find it. Here in the United States, and Canada, we find ample evidence of persecution–and a fervent desire, on the part of certain people, to have much, much more of it.

How should Christians cope with persecution? What are the things we most need to remember?

Persecution and the Believer Part 2

Between the two parts of this article at the Domain for Truth (there is a link to Part 1), those questions are answered from the Bible.

The one thing we must not do, ever, is to give in to the persecutors and desert our King.

‘Contempt of the Court’ (Christian Blogger)

Our friend SlimJim was smokin’ with this post!

Contempt of the Court and thinking about God’s Judgment Day

He’s not the only one to wonder what’ll happen on Judgment Day when sophomoric doofuses accuse God of wrongdoing. Haven’t we all heard fat-heads do this?

Well, here on earth, if you show off like that in court, the judge will probably jail you for contempt of court. They don’t like being made to feel as if the court were there to amuse the defendant.

If you want to see a real-life example of what happens, there’s video embedded in the post.

Really–people who brag about how they’ll turn the tables on God have not the least idea of what they’re talking about.

Christian Blogger: How to Think About ‘Woke’

7_questions_christians_should_think_about_and_ask_concerning_woke_claims

Our friend and colleague “SlimJim” has a thoughtful essay on questions Christians should ask about “Woke.” It’s a lot more thoughtful and careful than I would ever be, dealing with this exasperating topic. But then he’s a real minister and I’m not.

7 Questions Christians Should Think About and Ask Concerning Woke Claims

I’m inclined to write ’em off, “If you’re woke, you’re a joke.” But Jim goes much deeper than that and you should probably listen to him instead of me. “Woke” individuals may sometimes be pointing to real problems, real wrongs, that ought to be addressed.

I salute Jim for his patience.
