‘Good Christian Men, Rejoice’

What’s this–a Christmas carol in June?

Well, that’s exactly what it is, and I’ve posted it because I need it… and maybe that goes for a lot of us.

You don’t have to wait for Christmas-time to celebrate Christmas. The Dominican friars, with Good Christian Men Rejoice.

‘Hyfrydol’ (On a Dulcimer)

All sorts of unedifying nooze out there today–but let’s have this first. Hyfrydol, a well-known Welsh hymn played here on a mountain dulcimer, by Gwen Caeli: it brought tears to our eyes.

I don’t know if I’ll post any nooze today or not. I guess I’ll try. But thank God we have hymns to fortify our souls.

‘I Sing the Mighty Power of God’

Isaac Watts wrote this hymn in 1715 and it’s still being sung today: I Sing the Mighty Power of God, sung here by the Mountain Anthems.

We are wide-open for hymn requests, everybody.

‘Oh, Sinner Man’

Transport a Caribbean hymn to the cold waters of Scotland, and this is what you get–Oh, Sinner Man…with seals.

Anyhow, it’s one of my favorite hymns and that’s why I post it. I’ll post yours, too, if you ask me to.

‘Alleluiah, Sing to Jesus’

Well, I’m still tuckered out after my long rest at the rest home. No stamina. But I reckon I was lucky to get out of there in one piece.

Let’s have a hymn: Alleluiah, Sing to Jesus [in Welsh it’s Hyfrydol]–sung by St. Michael’s Singers at Coventry Cathedral.

By Request: ‘All Creatures of Our God and King’

I meant to post this first thing in the morning–but boy howdy, I’m still tired and I plum forgot. (Helpful hint: a rest home is anything but restful.) So here it is now–All Creatures of Our God and King by Fanny Crosby, sung by the Altar of Praise Chorale.

Sorry–too tired to post any nooze today.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

Our Lord Jesus Christ must be carrying me through this soul-trying time: I sure ain’t carryin’ myself.

Sing here by Calvary Free Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland, Yield Not to Temptation was one of my favorite hymns in Sunday school and I’m still loving it today. Maybe because I need it so much more, these days.

I hope can remember how to post it.

‘The Lord Is My Shepherd’

Psalm 23, set to music and sung by the choir of Wells Cathedral: The Lord Is My Shepherd. First hymn that popped into my head this morning.

Let’s pray for each other. I know I’m not the only one who needs it.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

Here’s a hymn from the Garden State Baptist Church in Old Bridge, just down the road from me–Yield Not to Temptation, by Horatio Palmer. How often we sang this in Sunday school!

I pray Our Lord Jesus Christ will carry me over the finish line.

Role Reversal: Deer Chases Dog

Enough is enough with all the medical stuff. Let’s take a break!

Here’s something you don’t see every day–deer chases dog. I get the impression that the dog just wants to play tag: but I don’t think that’s an assumption that the deer can’t afford to make.
