Endearingly Goofy Pets

Honestly, I could’ve sat here and cried as I watched the rat try to use $20 bills as nesting material–and so persistent! Wasn’t going to take no for an answer. I’m so glad my rats never did that.

In this video you will also be treated to the spectacle of a dog being chased by a fish. That’s something you don’t see every day.

‘I Then Shall Live’

Have you head this hymn before? I Then Shall Live–performed at Christ Church by the Longboat Key Chancel Choir: the melody you’ve probably heard as Finlandia, composed by Jean Sibelius.

Cats & Water Beds

It must feel all kinds of cool, to a cat, to frolic on a waterbed. I can see the attraction. But I can’t convince myself that sharp cat claws and waterbeds is a good mix.

Maybe it’s because I knew somebody whose guinea pig got out of his cage one day and decided to chew a hole in the waterbed. By and by, the ceiling over the dinner table began to bulge alarmingly…

‘Draw Me Nearer’–a 1906 Recording

Fanny Crosby, born in 1820 and blind for almost all her life, wrote over 8,000 hymns, many of them still loved and sung to this day. If I posted a different Fanny Crosby hymn here every day, it would still take some 20 years to post them all.

This antique Edison recording was made in 1906, when Fanny Crosby was still alive to hear it.

This is for Erlene, one of her favorite hymns–well, for everybody, really.

They Want to Be Our Rulers

Here’s some footage from the Democratic Socialist Convention, held last week.

These people aspire to be our rulers. To “change” our country. If they can ever get past trying to arrange for silent applause or arguing over what kind of pronouns to use. They call each other “comrade.” That our country could actually generate a roomful of these jidrools is a profound national disgrace.

What’s that you say–these jerks will never have the support of a majority, they’re totally out of touch with regular people?

Since when has that ever stopped the Far Left Crazy? If you think they won’t try anything without the public on their side, Go Back Three Spaces to 1917, in Russia.

It may be a roomful of idiots; but it doesn’t take more than a few sharp customers to get the revolution rolling. The idiots in the room are only cannon fodder.

‘Wonderful Words of Life’

This is a dear old Sunday school favorite–Wonderful Words of Life. Published in 1874, sung here by the Dallas Christian Concert Choir. Background sets and beauty by God the Father, maker of heaven and earth.

It Depends on How You Look at It (if you’re a dog)

I have actually tried this–tilting your head to one side or another to try to understand something better. I can’t say it’s done much for me; it might work better if I had a squeaky toy. A lot of lizards and a few cats do this, too, so there must be something to it. Watch the video closely to pick up helpful pointers.

By Request, ‘There Is Power in the Blood’

Requested by Jeremy (Joshua’s brother)–There Is Power in the Blood, performed by Alan Jackson, written in 1899 by Lewis E. Jones. I’d never heard it before Joshua requested it.

Hello! If you’re new here, I want you to know that anyone can request a hymn, anytime, the hymn shop’s always open. If there’s a hymn you’d like to share, just let us know by leaving a comment anywhere on the blog. We’ll do the rest.

God’s Stuff: Luna Moth

Mr. Nature here–and to this day I have never seen a luna moth. I have to settle for video.

Here’s one that got rained on and needs to dry out before it can fly again. Meanwhile, it seems perfectly content to rest on this man’s finger and have its picture taken.

God creates beauty, for His own pleasure and for ours.

(Note: “Lunar” is an error. It’s “luna,” not “lunar.”)

‘Blessed Assurance’

This is one of the 8,000 hymns that Fanny Crosby wrote–Blessed Assurance, sung here by Alan Jackson. This stirs my soul; I hope it does the same for you.
