More California Weirdness

[Note: Please pray for Israel–and for those Palestinians who will suffer because they’re governed by homicidal maniacs.]

I really don’t feel like doing nooze today, but it is my job–and this item really caught my attention.

Gov. Gavin Noisome has surprisingly vetoed a bill by the California legislature that would have decriminalized the possession of “magic mushrooms” and other psychedelic drugs (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/10/09/california-gov-gavin-newsom-vetoes-bill-that-would-have-decriminalized-psychedelic-mushrooms/).

My guess is he’s waiting for his fellow Democrats to pitch SloJo under the bus and run him for president instead… so he’ll want to build up some sanity cred in preparation for 2024.

Maybe it should be a contest: You win a prize if you can think of anything at all that California needs less than widespread use of psychedelic drugs. I don’t think I can.

Mind you, had the bill been passed, these drugs would still be illegal under federal law. And of course (!) they weren’t proposing to allow various jidrools to sell psychedelics, or bring them onto school property–tut-tut, we wouldn’t do that! We just want people to feel comfy about using these drugs themselves.

As this fallen world’s leaders think of more wars to start, more and more kooks emerge with proposals to bring the whole thing crashing down.

We are in desperate need of God’s protection.

Naked Woman–with Gun–Ties Up Traffic

Are people getting crazier?

Yesterday traffic stopped on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge… thanks to a naked woman with a gun (https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/naked-woman-on-bay-bridge-suffered-mental-health-crisis-chp/). People got quite a scare out of that; but it seems she was only firing into the air. No one was hurt, but traffic was jammed up for hours.

California Highway Patrol officers talked her down and convinced her to give up the gun, then took her away in an ambulance. Police speculate she was having “a mental health crisis.” Ya think?

What drove this woman over the edge? Will we ever know? Or is this just California being California?

California Does It Again

Never, never think that California has gotten as wacky as it’s gonna get.

This weekend Gov. Jerry Brown signed a new, uh, law that requires companies to have women on their boards of directors (https://www.breitbart.com/california/2018/10/02/californias-jerry-brown-signs-law-requiring-women-on-corporate-boards/). At least one, this year; and by 2021, at least two if there are five members on the board, and at least three if there are six.

Signing the bill into law, His Daffiness admitted that the legislation might contain “potential flaws that may prove fatal to its implementation.” Ya think? But that’s okay, he added, ’cause we’re sending them a message.

This is what happens when you hold to the doctrine that the government owns everything and can do just as it pleases with it–including telling a privately-owned company who may or may not be on its board of directors. But who cares about the Constitution, or even basic sanity, when you’re sendin’ ’em a message?

The great majority of corporations in America already do have women on their boards of directors, without being coerced by the devouring state. But when you’re in the business of throwing unconstitutional sops to the #MeToo crowd, you can ignore stuff like that.

If Democrats are ever allowed back into power, think about their plans for our country’s future. And then wonder if we’ll even have a future.

Judge: ‘Sanctuary State’ Unconstitutional

Are you sure you want a sanctuary state?

At least one judge has ruled unconstitutional the 2017 state law that made California a “sanctuary state” where our country’s immigration laws do not apply (https://abc7.com/politics/oc-judge-rules-californias-sanctuary-state-law-unconstitutional/4356877/).

A Superior Court judge struck down the law on the grounds that it violates the rights of charter cities (121 of them) to police themselves. The law forbade local police forces to communicate with federal authorities, like ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement),  in cases involving illegal aliens.

Gee, who’d’a thunk it? A state declares federal law, enacted by Congress, to be null and void within its borders… Uh, wasn’t there a spot of trouble about that, back in the 1860s?

If the U.S. Constitution is not the law of the land, then there is no law of the land: but only 50 different sets of laws, and no country at all, but only a name on the map.

That still leaves us utterly perplexed as to why anyone would want their state declared a sanctuary for illegal aliens. Well, OK, Democrats want to replace the electorate with a lot of Third World peasants they can easily dominate, and certain Republican donors want cheap labor (although if the labor force can’t afford to buy the goods and services, then where are you?)–but those are not reasons for normal people.
