“Waddaya mean, they don’t know math? I taught it to ’em, didn’t I?”

While we’re on the subject of public education, do you think it’s unreasonable to expect the classroom teacher to know more than her students? Like, if you were teaching fifth-grade math, should you be expected to know, say, high-school-level math?

I post this item now and then because it rather appalled me, in 2018, that so many math teachers were flunking their math exams. Never mind “Those who can’t do, teach”–have you looked at teacher salaries lately? Teachers’ union contracts? We’re paying a fortune for this mess.

What gets me is that whole idea that parents aren’t “qualified” to school their children at home. I’m sure I could flunk a math test with the best of them.

When I was in elementary school, more than a few teachers used humiliation and mockery as disciplinary tools. But beyond a certain point, they dared not go.

Now they go beyond it with impunity.

My school days left me with the conviction that “authority” was arbitrary, capricious, and stupid–and cruel, too, if they could get away with it.

Our friend Re-Farmer says the “educators” believe your children are a form of property–property which they should own instead of you. I think she has something there.

It’s your money, folks. Spend it on college if that’s what you want… but don’t expect anything in return.

I’m re-running this so soon because I expect a truly ridiculous debate to arise–a debate in which leftids will defend plagiarism as a means of creating Social Justice.

Some big-name academics got found out as copycats lately, so of course all Democrats will rally around their right to steal other people’s work and pass it off as their own. Especially Cherished Minorities–they’ve got a free ride.

Watch. We won’t have to wait long, to see this get ugly.

It’s so hard to learn from morons!

So you pay a fortune for an “education” that leaves you just as ignorant, four or five years later, as you were when you first came through the door. Maybe more so.

All over the country, “higher education” is responding to a crisis in performance by drastically lowering the standards.

Someday they will close the circle. People who know what they’re doing will age out and be replaced by ignoramuses. Mass idiocy will be the basis of our nation’s economy. Those who can’t do… will simply have to pretend that they can.

“I think we’ve got everything out of there, sir!” “All right–close it up again.”

I give up. What does “public education” have to do, to chase the public out? The insults, the abuses, the waste, the low expectations, the purposeful indoctrination of children into the politics of perversion–how much farther does it have to go, before the people cry “Enough! No more!”

Chicago–whose teachers’ union, a few years ago, made a pilgrimage to Venezuela to “learn” (God help us) from dictator Hugo Chavez–has announced a plan to eliminate “high-achieving programs” in 11 schools (https://jonathanturley.org/2023/12/19/achieving-equity-through-mediocrity-chicago-moves-to-eliminate-high-achieving-school-programs/). The city’s Far Left gasbag mayor promised that he wouldn’t do that–but what’s the promise of a Democrat politician worth? Shame on anyone who believed him. So they’re gonna do it anyway.

As Jonathan Turley succinctly explained it, “Major cities with failing public education programs are erasing performance gaps in their schools by decapitating the top performers rather than elevating the performances overall.”

It’s what they always do. So much easier on the union! They can’t make everybody rich, but they can always make everybody dumb. That’s… “equity”!

What do we expect to get out of public education anymore?

What might the future hold for a republic that spends billions of dollars to “teach” children things that are not true? To curry favor with “authority” by telling teachers and other adults what those adults want to hear, even when both parties know it isn’t true? To get ahead by lying.

Teaching Children to Lie

Wow. Won’t that make our business and our politics just swell, with everybody lying to us all the time? It’s already hard enough to get a straight answer!

And which outcome is worse? People learn to believe the lies they’re told–or else wind up believing nobody? Either way is bad for us.

Public education: working every day to dumb us down and strip us of our freedom.

Teachers Reveal the Most Hilarious Answers They've Heard

Meanwhile, back at the skool–

At a high school in Seattle, a 10th-grader flunked a “world history” quiz (?–go figure) by giving true answers to two true/false questions (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/12/controversy-erupts-when-student-fails-quiz-answering-correctly/). He wrote “true” for “only men have penises” and “only women can get pregnant.” The, um, “teacher” insisted those were false statements. The student was supposed to agree that women can have penises and men can get pregnant.

And so Compelled Speech reaches down into grade school! Now you have to say demonstrably true statements–that is, facts–are false, even though they’re false, and you know they’re false, and they go against your core beliefs.

For this you pay your school tax?

Yeahbut, yeahbut! It’s inclusive, man! If one is even allowed to say “man.”

Take your children out of there.

Well, we warned you, didn’t we? A public school is no place for your children–especially for Christian children.

A few days ago in Central Bucks, Pennsylvania, an incumbent school board president, recently re-elected, had herself sworn in on a stack of smutty with-it “books” (I use the word loosely) aimed at children to turn them into good little nothings (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/12/sick-democrat-pennsylvania-school-board-president-sworn-stack/). In civilized places they swear you in on the Bible.

A bunch of other Democrats got elected, too; so the school board there is now majority-Left and pumped up to indoctrinate the kiddies.

And here’s what we warned you about, boys and girls:

The Democrat Party pumped several million dollars into this local school board election! Where the devil are they getting all that money?

Are these the people you want “educating” your children?

Convicted Prostitute Was on School Sex Ed Council

I can’t take much more of this. Here’s a happy little lizard instead.

So who’s “educating” your children, these days?

In the Godley (holy cow) Independent School District, Texas, a woman who was twice convicted for prostitution served on “several positions” with the district–and has been removed from her seat on the district’s “sex education council” (https://www.breitbart.com/education/2023/11/30/video-convicted-prostitute-booted-texas-schools-sex-ed-council/).

Please–no wisecracks about going to a real professional.

An ordinary background check didn’t turn up the convictions because her activities were deemed, under Texas law, misdemeanors instead of felonies.

It still didn’t sit well with the parents. They turned up the information for themselves and got rather upset by it. The woman said she had several “businesses”… without revealing the nature of her business. In the end, the school board had to let her go: too big a backlash, as it were.

Those Who Can’t Do… Oh, They Teach!

All they need is an “alternative certificate.”

Oh, boy! New Jersey has lowered its standards for getting a teaching certificate! No more bothering with basic skills (https://midmichigannow.com/news/nation-world/new-jersey-drops-basic-skills-requirement-for-new-teachers-caved-to-teacher-union-demands-education-association-reading-writing-math-proficiency-phil-murphy-crisis-in-the-classroom).

There was a test for proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math, and you had to pass it to get a teaching certificate. Well, the unions didn’t like that! And here in Joisey, what the New Jersey Education Assn. wants, the New Jersey Education Assn. gets. NJEA owns the Democrat Party in New Jersey.

Now, you apply for an “alternative teaching certificate”–show up and fog a mirror, and you’re in–and if you can stick it out for four years, you get a full certificate.

I took “teaching” courses in the 1970s and even then, just about anybody could have come in off the street and passed the tests. I shudder to think of what the State of New Jersey now considers “too hard.” But the NJEA didn’t want the test, so the test had to go. Gotta keep those campaign contributions coming!

Question! Why does anybody still send their kids to public schools? Now you won’t even be able to feel sure that your child’s “teacher” will know any more than the kiddies do.

Yeahbut, yeahbut! They know their Far Left ideology, and that’s all that’s expected of them.
