Our Deteriorating National Character

Celebrity Worship

America is great, said Alexis DeTocqueville in the early 19th century, because America is good. If she ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.

Bull’s eye for him.

Our esteemed colleague “Unknowable” has raised this issue lately in several comments. Just getting rid of the Democrat Party and slapping down the fake nooze  media, he says, will not treat the root cause of our problems–an across-the-boards deterioration of our national character. This includes our penchant for “near-worship of celebrities.”

I think it’s important to recognize that our nation’s character has been debased on purpose by persons who are easily identifiable: the Democrat Party, the nooze and “entertainment” media (sort of a tautology), and teachers’ unions and other wicked “educators.” If we could somehow break them up and strip them of their power, they wouldn’t be able to carry on their mission to corrupt the country.

Things are done now that would have been utterly unthinkable when I was a boy. So why are they thinkable, and doable, now? Because certain people worked very hard, for a long time, to make them so. They never took “No” for an answer. No matter how many times they were defeated, they kept coming back–like the freakin’ Mummy. If one tactic didn’t work, they tried another. That’s how they finally got “gay marriage” intruded into our culture, through the Supreme Court. More specifically, through Justice Anthony Kennedy. They only had to swing one guy, and they got what they wanted. All other tactics had failed them. Even California voters turned it down. But they found the one judge who would give them what they wanted.

Yes, our national character needs re-Christianizing. We were a good country because we were a Christian country. D. James Kennedy once said that the most unserved mission field in the world was the churches in America. I’m afraid he was right.

Well, no one can say God didn’t give us enough work to keep us busy.

‘Well, Then, Should I Just Change My Value System?’ (2014)

See the source image

Judge Bork had it totally right! That’s why Democrats and nooze media kept him off the Supreme Court.

Y’know what’s scary about this? The ease with which some people do change their “values.”

Well, Then, Should I Just Change My Value System?

I don’t believe those alleged polls that say the American people have come around to be fully in favor of “gay marriage.” If that were true, they wouldn’t be marching in and out of various courtrooms to impose it on us by force. They’d just pass legislation and that’d be that.

But certainly our “value system” isn’t what it was. I think it started with “values” replacing “right and wrong.”

Right and wrong are right and wrong for everybody. But any nit can declare his own “values.”

‘Astounding! Catholic School Religious Director Fired for Being in Gay “Marriage” (2015)

Secular types sputter uncontrollably when they see persons operating a Christian institution–in this case, a Catholic school–in accordance with Christian teachings: not just any old teachings that some mook at a seminary made up last week, but the ones found in the Bible.

Imagine that: a Catholic school not wanting a teacher who’s an unrepentant, flagrantly-practicing sinner. I mean, we’re all sinners; but most of us don’t insist it’s God who’s wrong, not us.

A Prophetic Voice

I don’t much feel like commenting on the news today, so I’m going to let Rabbi Jonathan Cahn do it. This is from a speech he delivered recently on Capitol Hill. Rabbi Cahn, an atheist in his youth, now accepts Jesus Christ as the Messiah promised by God throughout the Old Testament.

America, he recalls, was founded as “a city on a hill,” but now “The city on a hill drove God out of its culture” and has incurred God’s judgment. He condemns America’s so-called legalization of homosexual “marriage,” and demands of the Supreme Court and the president, “By what authority did you strike down the laws of the Almighty?” That’s a good question, and one which has yet to be answered.

This is powerful stuff; and let us join the rabbi in praying for mercy for our country.

‘Gay Marriage’ Study–Fake, Fake, Fake

Not that this should come as any kind of surprise to anybody, but a major “scientific” study supporting same-sex “marriage” has been retracted by its author… because it has turned out to be a fraud ( http://www.politico.com/story/2015/05/science-retraction-gay-marriage-views-fake-data-118131.html ).

Is science even science anymore? Do they ever tell the truth? We’ve already seen this in regard to Global Warming–suppressing some data, overemphasizing other data, claiming press releases are “peer-reviewed scientific papers,” suing, bullying, and mobilizing political pressure against critics and dissenters: all justified in the name of the good cause of Saving the Planet.

In the case of the “gay marriage” study, we were asked to believe that Science “proves” that most Americans are gung-ho for it, and anyone can be converted to the cause just by twenty minutes’ worth of conversation with a “gay person.”

Now the alleged researchers have admitted that they faked it. Oops.

Common sense break: If it were true that the American people really do want “gay marriage,” there would immediately be legislation to establish it and we wouldn’t be in the freakin’ Supreme Court waiting for the judges to ram it down our throats. If it’s so popular, bunky, just put it on the ballot!

I was brought up to believe in science.

I don’t anymore.
