‘Can You Name a Book? Any Book?’

We have the biggest and costliest public “education” system in world history–and what have we got to show for it?

Illiterates.

Pew Research says one in four Americans didn’t read a single book last year. In this video segment, it’s more like four out of four.

Welcome to StupidWorld, the multi-trillion-dollar theme park for what used to be civilization.

All right, sure, we understand–no one has ever done a man-in-the-street interview that makes the man or woman in the street look smart. And everybody who doesn’t respond like a ninny winds up on the cutting room floor.

But I do know people who’ve finished both high school and college and never read a book.

Very Weird School ‘Policy’: Smile–or Else!

Image result for images of grinning

If you still think there might be sane people somewhere involved with public education, consider this.

In the North Lebanon, Pennsylvania, school district, the school policy is that students must smile in the hallway or else be put into “counseling”–and if that doesn’t work, detention (http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2018/05/16/school-students-required-smile/).

“Northern Lebanon officials,” says the news report from Pittsburgh, “did not explain what the purpose of the smiling policy was or what it is supposed to achieve.”

Kowabunga. R.J. Rushdoony would say its purpose is to enforce conformity and assert its power. I’d say he was right. Otherwise it’s just plain craziness. We can’t rule that out.

Really, people–do you want your children and grandchildren “educated” by these kooks?

If you walk around grinning all the time, don’t answer that.

Your School Tax Dollars at Work, Again

Our is the biggest and costliest public education system in world history–and what are we getting for it?

At Mountain Ridge Middle School in Gerrardstown, West Virginia, some parents are a bit cheesed off that their non-Muslim children are being taught to write an Islamic “declaration of faith” (http://barenakedislam.com/2018/05/17/west-virginia-parental-outrage-after-non-muslim-junior-high-school-students-were-forced-to-write-a-declaration-of-faith-to-the-religion-of-islam/). Doesn’t seem quite the ticket, does it?

First the school officials said the purpose of the exercise was to “practice writing the Islamic declaration of faith in Arabic calligraphy.” I didn’t know Muslims had to declare faith in Arabic calligraphy. Then the school said it was optional. We are at liberty not to believe this.

Meanwhile, in the “world religions” portion of Social Studies (feh!), Christianity and Judaism are notably downplayed, while Islam gets the lion’s share of ink and classroom time.

For some bizarre and probably lunatic reason, Western liberals are head-over-heels in love with Islam. They believe they can have lots and lots of Islam in their culture and still enjoy feminism, “gay rights,” and transgender bathrooms. Anyone can look at Iran and say, “Uh-uh, that ain’t gonna happen.” But apparently liberals–and most of our education hotshots are liberals–can’t see it.

And if Islam will be rough on “erotic minorities,” that’s nothing to how rough it’ll be on our sacred cow of Science.

Stupid leftids. They have no idea what they’re asking for. God help them if they get it.

Boo-hoo! Prom Won’t Have Two ‘Queens’

What a normal prom king and queen look like

A pair of lesbians are claiming “discrimination” because Morton Ranch High School, in Texas, won’t change the prom rules to allow them both to be elected “Prom Queen” (https://www.dailywire.com/news/30596/lesbian-couple-claims-discrimination-kept-them-paul-bois). Oh, my! They weren’t even allowed to run together for “Prom King and Queen.”

Ordinarily I would find it hard to focus in on anything as trivial as who gets to be prom queen. All right, it’s a big deal to some kids.

Uh, why did the lesbians presume that they would win the election, if they were allowed to run together?

Why do people in a Red state like Texas still think they have Red state schools, when the far-left teacher unions control the public schools in every state, Red or Blue? Wake up, Texas. You have Blue State schools. You might as well have imported them from Massachusetts.

The pattern has been repeated times without number. It starts out with, “Can’t you just leave us in peace, to do our own thing, privately? Why must you persecute us?” And it winds up with another micro-minority tyrannizing over the rest of society. And corrupting it. What starts out as “must be tolerated” morphs into “must be celebrated” and bowed down to.

Meawnhile, unless the entire study body is elected Prom Kings and Prom Queens, then of course there is “discrimination,” you idiots: that’s why only two kids get elected. Hey, maybe they could try that. Everybody a king, everybody a queen. You can be both at the same time, if that’s what ices your cake, and demand that everyone else exalt you as simultaneously king and queen.

When is someone going to stand up to these puffed-up minority ankle-biters? Where is it written that they get to run our country?

I Interview the U.S. Secretary of Education (2010)

It isn’t every day you get to question a federal department head. My chance came in 2010, to fire a question at Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and I took it. The article’s kind of long, but you might find it interesting.

What interests me the most is just how crazy an enterprise public education is and wants to be. It has an insatiable appetite for our money, and its goal is the total infantilization of the American people.

Culture Rot for Young Readers

I reviewed these books for Chalcedon two years ago, the first two “Dragonets of Destiny” novels by Tui T. Sutherland (https://chalcedon.edu/magazine/reviews-of-two-fantasy-novels-by-tui-t-sutherland).

I don’t know what’s worse: the sheer inanity of such novels, their routine Godlessness, or their toxic ideology. I mean, we’re talking about stories in which the characters sing bar songs–and there are no bars! And the young dragons have to kill their parents to get ahead. Yeesh.

What with public schooling, slop culture, social media obsession, and all the rest of it, who can be surprised by the mess we’re in? The wonder is, it isn’t worse.

We can do better than this. Really, we can. Even with Scholastic Books trying to block the way to excellence.

‘Are You Absolutely, Positively Sure You Want Your Kids in Public School?’ (2014)

Well, at least this school’s not anti-science! Really, what could be more Scientific than to pressure 13-year-old kids to have sex?

https://leeduigon.com/2014/12/10/are-you-absolutely-positively-sure-you-want-your-kids-in-public-school/

Incredible as it seems, there are still millions of Americans who deny that these things happen in our public schools.

That’s what allows those things to keep on happening.
