‘Oh Worship the King’

This was one of my favorite hymns in Sunday school, and it’s still one of my favorites today, a zillion years later: O Worship the King, sung here by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

We are always open for hymn requests, should anybody make one.

‘I Hear Thy Welcome Voice’ (Joshua & Jeremy)

I Hear Thy Welcome Voice–isn’t it lovely? I’d never heard it before. Performed by our dear friends and colleagues, Joshua and Jeremy Swanson. Thanks, brothers!

‘He Who Would Valiant Be’

[Please pray for Patty to come home safe from her doctor’s appointment. It’s only a checkup, but we’re feeling rather vulnerable lately.]

Oh, this hymn sounds fine, played on a great big organ! He Who Would Valiant Be–I can’t ask for better.

‘To Be a Pilgrim’

Please indulge me. I love this hymn, it never fails to stir my soul: To Be a Pilgrim, by John Bunyan (aka He Who Would Valiant Be). Sung by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

We are all pilgrims in this age; and the Father will reward us if we don’t turn back.

‘Am I a Soldier of the Cross?’

Mark Twain quoted this hymn in Huckleberry Finn. It’s a classic by Isaac Watts: Am I a Soldier of the Cross?, sung here by Blessing Samuel.

‘Fling Out the Banner’

I remember this hymn from Sunday school!! Fling Out the Banner. How long has it been since I’ve heard this?  I’m so glad it didn’t fade away.

‘In the Sweet By and By’

I’m a bit distressed this morning–worried about Erlene, short on sleep, and can see no end to all the doctoring. It’s not surprising this hymn hit me where I live.

In the Sweet By and By, sung by the Mennonite Singers: Christ knows where we are, and at the appointed time He will call us to Himself.

‘The Lord Is My Shepherd’

Sorry I’m late. Oh, look! Another doctor’s appointment!

The hymn is The Lord Is My Shepherd, sung by the Wells Cathedral Choir.

And now I have to go referee a fight.

‘Onward Christian Soldiers’

One doctor’s appointment this morning, another this afternoon–sorry, I’ll save the rant for later… if there is a later. Gotta hit the road in a few minutes.

Quick, a hymn! Here’s the first one that popped iuto my head: Onward Christian Soldiers, sung by the Joslin Grove Choral Society.

I hope I can come back and put up some posts. Clock is ticking!

‘How Deep the Father’s Love For Us’

This is a gorgeous hymn, it brings me to tears; it tells me, “God is nigh.” How Deep the Father’s Love For Us, by Hymns of Grace. Just lovely.
