Cats Who Sing While They Eat

Why do cats do this? I don’t know; none of my cats ever did it. Sometimes it just sounds like the cat is saying “Yum-yum-yum.” But sometimes they sound like they’re trying to sing opera while scarfing down cat food.

I’ve never been in a restaurant where any of the diners insist on singing as they make their way through the main course. Violet Crepuscular has.

Roosters on the Warpath

Who ever expects to see a chicken chasing a horse? I mean, the roosters in this video are out to take no prisoners and they don’t care if the targets of their wrath are many times bigger than themselves. Like–a horse? Rooster’s got to be kidding.

Of course, you could always just stand still and wait for the punch line…

A Peaceable Kingdom (Dog & Bunnies & Bird)

My wife’s dogs used to catch and eat wild rabbits; but that’s not what’s going to happen in this video. And my dog Rags used to catch and eat birds; but that’s another thing that this dog doesn’t do.

One bed, one dog, one parakeet, and a bunch of baby bunnies–and everybody’s happy.

Just a little glimpse of what the Lord has in store for us, by and by.

Chased by Fierce Kittens!

Don’t these four tiny kittens know the big red dog could eat them? Actually, the dog doesn’t know what to do with them. Maybe they’re going to eat him. The dog keeps retreating at the kittens keep coming. I think they have the idea that big furry things mean you can do some nursing.

Smart Iguana vs. Cat

My iguana had cat and dog friends. But this is a neighbor’s cat, and the iguana in this house can’t quite decide what to do. He could charge the cat–that’s sometimes an option for iguanas, and it can be quite scary–but it seems he’d rather not. Note he’s perfectly okay with the dog with whom he shares the house.

And then watch how cleverly the iguana solves his problem. Somebody raised him to be a good boy!

(Iguanas are social animals, and if you want one to be a good pet, you have to bond with and train him while he’s still young and little.)

Don’t Sing to This Cat

Everybody’s a critic. Even your cat.

Yo, cats! Have you ever heard what you guys sound like, when you sing? Yeah, it’s that bad.

A mixed chorus of cats and humans–there’s some potential in that idea.

Bodacious Bunnies

Does a bunny ever chase his tail? I’ll bet he would, if he had the slightest hope of catching it.

We see from this video that bunnies play–just like dogs and cats. I can’t say I ever caught any of my lizards playing; and mice tend to be sober and businesslike.  But the video is rock-solid proof that bunnies have a sense of play.

P.S.–I’ll probably be late tomorrow. The computer is giving me hell.

Demanding Cats

Have you ever known a bashful cat?

When they want attention, they let you know. My cat Missy, when she decided I’d slept long enough, used to jump onto me and drop a pipe cleaner in my face, making it perfectly clear that she wanted to play fetch. So I’d throw the pipe cleaner, she’d chase it, and bring it back for another throw. I don’t know what she would’ve done if I’d failed to respond as desired. But I’m glad I never had the heart to disappoint her.

Dogs, Cats vs. Giant Spider

We all know humans who get freaked out by spiders. But mechanical spiders? Who’d ever get fooled by a mechanical spider?

Well, some of the dogs and cats in this video, for starters. But not all of them. Some quickly adopt it as a game.

Our cat Buster used to gobble up the great big nursery web spiders that sometimes blundered into our living room. It was, as someone said in Rodan, “Ah! Most sickening sight!”

What’s This Bird’s Game?

Out there in the real world, cats catch birds and eat them. We’ve all seen it done, haven’t we?

So why does this cardinal want to come into the house where the cat is? He winds the cat up pretty good, flies away–and then comes back. If the cat could somehow get past the glass in the window, the bird is history.

I’m gonna be a while, trying to figure out what’s going on here.
