Hen Baby-Sits Kittens

A farmyard in Korea got all fowled up when a hen decided to be nanny to a litter of kittens. This hen raised the kittens’ mother–who was still around, but didn’t mind her mommy chicken helping with the kits.

It got complicated; but you’ll see the farmer finally found the solution.

What’s With These Dogs?

Why are these dogs so scared of cats? They don’t need Halloween to crank up a good scare: cats are around all year. Whatever the reason, the dogs in this video ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Bunnies from Different Worlds

I’ve often seen pairs of wild rabbits doing this–which I think is probably a form of play. But what happens when a wild rabbit meets a domestic rabbit, in the latter’s back yard? Will they play, or will there be a territorial dispute? Looks like play to me; but then I don’t know much about rabbit psychology.

Eccentric Cats and Dogs

I don’t think much of people who play pranks on their pets.

Why are cats afraid of cucumbers? My cat Henry got really ticked off by worry beads. I have no idea why.

And I never knew dogs could learn to imitate people–but we can see them doing it in this video.

They Need a Go-Between

Deer can live in humans’ suburban neighborhoods. Deer can make friends with cats. Maybe. This cat’s posture is not welcoming. The deer would like to get closer, but she understands she’d better not push it. But it’d be nice if they would up being friends.

A Different Kind of Bunny

I guess you’ve got to go out West to see these in the wild: the American pika likes rocky, rough terrain. They’re related to rabbits, but look more like a cross between a hamster and a teddy bear. I wonder if they’re good company.

Sideways Kitties

I loved watching our two kittens do this–running sideways, with puffy tails. It was so funny! Too bad they grew out of it.

NOTE: YouTube has just threatened not to let me see any more videos unless I let them bombard me with commercials. Another kick in the pants to quality of life.

Dogs Can’t Help It

I could use some pepping-up. Maybe these dogs can inspire me. Really, you’d never want them to curb their enthusiasm, even if they could, which they can’t. We did have a cat, Buster, who could have been a dog–bounced himself off the wall like a pro. I do miss him!

Dog Up a Tree

This is impossible! There’s just no way a German shepherd could have climbed a tree so high and so far–even if he was chasing a cat. You can see the cat in the still photo: nowhere left to go.

Impossible or not, the fire department had to come to the rescue. Don’t worry–nobody got hurt.

A Pig Who Loves Cats

A lot of people don’t know this, but pigs are among the most intelligent animals and can adapt to all sorts of unusual situations. Here’s a pig who’s gotten used to life with cats: he simply refuses to live a pig’s lifestyle. A wise choice, I think.
