‘Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee’

Turn up the volume on this one! Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee–music by Beethoven; sung by Libera.

If this hymn doesn’t reach you, I don’t know what will.

Cat, You’ve Got Mail

Boy, do cats love getting mail! I had no idea.

Sure, I was excited when I was eight years old and I was expecting by Authentic Genuine Davy Crockett Log Cabin in the mail any day now (and what a nothing it turned out to be when I finally got it)–but I couldn’t hold a candle to the cats in this video. Then again, if I’d acted like them, I think my mother might’ve been concerned…

By Request, ‘A Moment of Time’

And our first hymn request of 2017 comes from Erlene, and here it is–A Moment of Time, performed by Carroll Roberson.

See, everybody? It’s easy. If there’s a hymn you’d like to share, don’t be shy, just say so.

One Thing We Ought to Get Rid Of…

Hey, it’s a new year, and an ideal time to scrap inane and worthless policies–right?

I feel I ought to mention that the elementary school, grades K-5, in my neighborhood seems to have a policy forbidding children to walk to or from school. If you must walk three blocks or so, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

When I was in fifth grade, any kid who couldn’t walk home without his mommy would have been–well, wondered at, to say the least.

This 24/7 supervision really has to stop: it’s stunting the children’s mental growth. Is it any wonder we have colleges full of overgrown babies who have to play with Play-Doh because they heard somebody say something that didn’t fit into their ideological straitjacket?

Ooh! But it’s just too dangerous to let the kiddies walk!

At the risk of sounding revolutionary, how’s about we grab those persons who constitute the danger and lock them up? And what say we stop normalizing deviance? Like, we just got rid of the president who tried to order little girls’ bathrooms thrown open to grown men.

So that’s another imbecility that has to be scrapped, but quick–that whole “I identify as such-and-such” business. We don’t need to hear that anymore.

It’ll be hard to get rid of stuff like this, because you-know-who are going to cling to it for all they’re worth: but it’s a fight that must be fought, and won. And won!

This Little Blog…

Bigger than an elephant! Bigger than a man!

Okay, that’s the Baluchitherium, not my blog. But we did pass some big milestones here in 2016.

Thanks to you, the readers, we had 63,578 views this year–almost twice as many as last year’s total, and more than the previous two years put together. We also passed the 10,000 mark in comments.

Four times in 2016 we topped 6,000 views in a month. Our daily average was 174 views–almost twice the average for 2015.

Can this blog keep growing? Search me! All I do is write the stuff. Oh–and pick out cat videos, too.

My goal is to make this blog a small part of a great revival of faith and hope. For that it needs the Lord’s blessing and your active participation. I hope that didn’t sound too pretentious. Thing is, we should all be working for revival! We have an awful lot to revive from.

By the mercy of God we will not have to try to do it with Hillary Clinton sitting in the White House and spitting poison at us. The Lord has given us a leg up.

So let’s climb.

And We Have a New Year’s Contest Winner…

Right down to the wire last night, folks–and just under the wire with the final comment of 2016, we have a winner–Savannah Z. Very nicely timed!

So, Savannah, you’ve won an autographed copy of The Throne, which I will send you as soon as I get my author’s copies sometime this month. In the meantime, I’ll need your mailing address. Email it to me at leeduigon@verizon.net. Or you can post it in a comment and hope I remember to delete that post before people start sending you encyclopedias that you don’t really want to buy.

Thanks for playing, everybody!

Start the Year: ‘Revive Us Again’

Happy New Year, everybody!

If there’s anything our country needs more than a revival of its Christian faith, I can’t imagine what it is. So let this be our first hymn of 2017.

Yes, I know I’ve posted it before. I am standing by to post my readers’ hymn requests.

If you enjoy the way Nathan and Lyle perform this hymn, you’ll find more at their website, http://www.music-folk-play-hymns-com .
