This Girl’s Rooster Loves Her

In case you missed it when Linda sent it in this morning, here’s the girl whose pet rooster loves her so much, he races up the trail to meet her when she comes off the school bus. Look at him go!

Go ahead–tell us it’s just evolution at work, through chance.

A Most Demanding Bird

Watch the cockatiel’s reaction when the stupid human stops petting him. And note the cat sitting at the far end of the couch, pretending to take no notice of these goings-on. There are wheels turning here, inside both the feathery head and the furry one.

Bird Serenades Bunny

It takes this cockatiel a minute or two to find his muse, but then he breaks into a Star Wars tune, followed by his masterful rendition of the Jeopardy theme. The bunny discreetly withdraws, missing the best part of the concert.

God put a lot more into animals than we ever thought.

Pets Who’ve Made Their Own Problems

It turns out humans are good for one thing, at least–getting cats, dogs, birds, and ferrets out of ridiculous situations they’ve gotten themselves into.

I’ve always wondered how cats that squeeze themselves into little jars and bottles get out. I hope they appreciate us when we get them out.

Death Wish 2017: Parakeet & Cat

From our You Figure ‘Em Out! Dept.–We know cats sleep very soundly when they have a mind to, but this parakeet has determined that it shall not be so. Watch him bedevil the poor cat. Marvel at the cat’s patience. And ask yourself, “What does this crazy bird want? Like, dude, don’t you know the cat could eat you?” And for some strange unfathomable reason, the cat’s response is never what it could be. Go figure.

Your Pets Are Watching You

Cats and dogs and birds–they’ve got their eyes on you. Don’t even think about getting away with anything. If other people watched us this intently, we’d get nervous about it. But I guess these little fuzzy fellows only do it ’cause they have inquiring minds or something.

Crabby Critters

Here are some cats and dogs–and a couple of very naughty  birds, too–who definitely got up on the wrong side of the bed. And to think that my iguana in 17 years was never crabby! But oh, those cranky cats, dour dogs, and boisterous birds! When our cat Robbie is feeling cranky, she hits us. We’ve both had words with her about it, but that seems to do no good.

Sanity Break: Enterprising Critters

Okay, I think I’ve got it figured out. Cats will attempt to do the improbable, and sometimes succeed. Dogs will attempt to do the impossible, and seem not to care whether they succeed or not. And birds like to show off.

You’ve gotta love the God who created thee. (Gee, I meant to write “these,” but somehow it comes out better as “thee.”)

Cardinals and Snow

Hi, Mr. Nature here–what what goes together better than red cardinals and white snow? This video, which has the quality of a live Christmas card, is from Oklahoma.

Cardinals and snow: this is God’s stuff, and it tells us, in so many different voices, “God is nigh!” Listen: you can hear it.

A Medley of Cardinal Songs

Hi, Mr. Nature here! Let’s wash out that nasty aftertaste of news and politics and enjoy some of the good stuff God has given us.

If your neighborhood’s like mine, with an awful lot of foliage, you’re more likely to hear the birds than see them. And if you’re like me, one cardinal can make you think you’ve got half a dozen different kinds of birds all hiding out in the same tree.

Cardinals sing a lot of different songs, and this video will clue you in to four of them. You’d think it’d be easy to see cardinals, but I think they’re seen only when they want to be seen. You can always hear them, though.
