Church of England Priests Show Badly in New Poll

Does your priest, minister, or rabbi believe the Bible?

According to a new poll by The Times, for Christian Concern, more than 60 percent of Church of England priests do not believe the Bible’s teachings (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/09/do-most-church-leaders-even-believe-bible-poll/)–more specifically, Biblical teachings that apply to homosexual behavior, premarital sex, and same-sex “marriages.”

The poll contacted some 5,000 priests and got 1,436 responses.

A critic said what hardly needs saying: that “aping current values” of the culture is “the road to extinction” for the church.

It’s bad news, but it’s always necessary to recognize the problem before anything meaningful can be done about it. The rot has set in.

It has happened before; and God has always preserved a faithful remnant.

Make sure you’re in that number… when the saints go marching in.

Church of England’s “Dwindling Congregation”

The Not-the-Church-of-England version

People are booking it out of the Church of England–but not to worry, the Church has got a plan! Simply bring in “gender-neutral” terms for God, and they’ll come pouring back in (https://nypost.com/2023/02/08/church-of-england-might-give-god-gender-neutral-pronouns/). ‘Cause obviously they’re leaving because of all that “Our Father” stuff.

Do I hear Simon and Garfunkel singing The Dwindling Congregation?

“It’s an empty, hollow building, not a celebrant in sight,

And the cobwebs on the windows block out a lot of light.

And there’s no one at the service,

There’s nobody in the pews,

And the preacher stands there, lonely,

He has heard distressing news.

And the dwindling congregation, you can’t hear them say “Amen,”

And they won’t come back again…

Church of England, Church of Trans

WHY DO BISHOPS AND PRIESTS THINK THEY OWN THE EUCHARIST? – BISHOP PAT BUCKLEY

Male and female created He them.  Genesis 5:2

“To be trans is to enter into a sacred journey of becoming whole: precious, honored and loved, by yourself, by others, and by God.”

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.  the Third Commandment

I missed this story when it first came out in April. The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, signed this anti-Scriptural screed, authored by an “activist” for sodomy

https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2022/april/ex-leader-of-church-of-england-calls-gender-transitions-sacred-pushes-for-law-that-could-ban-biblical-beliefs

And now … a senior bishop in that church sez they have “no official definition of what a woman is” because things like that “used to be self-evident” but now the times they are a-changin’, all these new “gender complexities,” dontcha know (https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/cwn/2022/july/church-of-england-wont-give-a-definition-of-a-woman-blames-complexities-of-gender-identity).

Gee, if he ever needs a career change, we could offer him a seat on the Supreme Court. One of them doesn’t know what a woman is, either.

Is the Church of England even a church anymore? In light of  current public declarations, I think we’re more than justified in asking that.

‘UK Christianity: Is It Over?’

See the source image

I think of the British martyrs, going all the way back to Saints Aaron and Julius, and St. Alban, in Roman times–and if grieves me to see the state of our mother country. Not that we’re exactly swimming in holiness on this side of the Atlantic.

UK Christianity: Is It Over?

Reading British fiction gives me the impression that Christianity was in deep trouble in Britain over a hundred years ago. And the two world wars didn’t help.

But, oh, depressing thought! Replacing God, replacing Jesus Christ Our King, with your… “friends.”

I don’t think I can think of anything more hopeless than that.

What’s Up with the Church of England?

First the good news: new pastoral guidance issued by the House of Bishops states that, as far as the Church of England is concerned, sex is only for heterosexual marriage, there remains a clear distinction between marriage and civil partnerships, and “sexual relations are not proper to the latter” (https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/church-of-england-affirms-sex-is-only-for-heterosexual-marriage-10465?fbclid=IwAR2QmskyXITvPvM3D_GzUbMWWYNlm6ZGnBBPNs96C1k66JyMecm9ri4aOzo)

Furthermore, “the introduction of same-sex marriage [in 2013]… has not changed the church’s teaching on marriage or same-sex relationships.”

But before we break out the noisemakers and party hats, there’s still this:

In 2018 the church approved new liturgies “intended to affirm and celebrate a person’s shift to a chosen gender identity… [and] to recognize liturgically a person’s gender transition.” So Holy Scripture, Genesis 5:2, “Male and female created He them”–that, they don’t affirm? God’s created order, that’s not affirmed?

It would be astonishing if the church doesn’t come under intense fire simply for affirming its teaching on sex and marriage. So, yes, it took a certain amount of courage for the bishops to do this.

But they still have one foot firmly planted in the bizarre innovations of this evil age, and we hope they know what Our Lord Jesus Christ said about serving two masters.

Trying to get out of declaring which side they’re on, the Lord’s or this world’s–and it ain’t gonna work, guys. Bishops ought to know that. You can’t actually follow Yogi Berra’s advice: “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” These two roads diverge widely, and you can’t travel them both.

Church of England: Kiss It Goodbye

Spiritual wickedness is coming down from high places, darkness disguised as light. One wonders if there’s any future for the institutional church.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a church and you see anywhere on its premises the words, “welcoming and affirming,” turn around and walk the other way. Three guesses as to whom they’re welcoming and what they’re affirming.

The latest evil comes from the Church of England, which has voted to welcome and affirm transgenderism (http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/church-of-england-goes-full-apostate-create-new-liturgical-materials-lgbt-transgenders/). In fact, they have even proposed to create a brand-new church ceremony to celebrate some poor lost, addled soul’s “gender transition.” Sort of like baptism or marriage or a christening, I guess. Only inspired by the Devil.

Flatline Protestantism strikes again. The Bible says, “Male and female created He them.” The secular world says, “We create ourselves in whatever gender we might fancy at the moment.” Guess whose side the flatline Protestants are on.

Look, it’s quite simple. Either the Bible is God’s word, or it is not. And if it is not, then we don’t have God’s word, period. We can’t even be sure there is a God to pity us.

I have never in my life seen anything take off like this whole “transgender” movement. It’s as if the world was waiting for it.

I think this is one of those false Christs that the real Christ warned us about. It certainly has shown a remarkable power to use a self-evidently false delusion to deceive many clever men and women.
