R.J. Rushdoony: ‘The Fright Peddlars,’ (2018)

Amazon.com: R. J. Rushdoony: books, biography, latest update

R.J. Rushdoony wrote this little essay for The California Farmer back in 1976; and today it seems more on target than ever.

Rushdoony on Target in 1976: ‘The Fright Peddlars’

Every generation, it seems has its doomsday scenario, “We’re all gonna die!” When I was a boy it was nuclear war, everybody building fallout shelters. Today it’s Climbit Change. It’s always some grisly fate from which we can only be saved by Science. And Big Government.

But the earth is the LORD’s, not theirs.

It would do us good to bear that in mind.

‘Are Males Doomed’? (2018)

Wait’ll you find out how little time we have left. You’ll keel right over.

Are Males Doomed?

Who needs clairvoyants and psychics to peer into the future, when you’ve got scientists? And because most of them get paid with publid money, it’s just exactly the same as getting it all for free!

Damn! Only 46 million years left! And it’s Evolution, so it’s carved in stone, ain’t nothin’ we can do about it.

I wonder if I should bother to do any more laundry.

Teen Suicide Rate Triples: Why?

Emotionally depressed young male is sitting on the floor with his hands on his head.

(Thanks to Evelyn for the news tip)

Well, nobody knows exactly why. All they know is that the rate’s gone up tremendously in ten years, 2007-2017, according to the government’s Center for Disease Control. Up 56% in those ten years. That’s among persons aged 10 to 14 years old (https://www.westernjournal.com/suicide-rates-among-children-10-14-years-old-tripled-experts-blame-social-media/).

So the Experts reckon social media’s the problem, because “teenagers are concerned about receiving enough validation from their followers on social media…”

Hmmm… Now where could kids ever have gotten the idea that their age-group peers, other kids, are the most important people in the world, and peer approval the most important and desirable thing in all the world? What could possibly have taught them that?

Then there are the perpetual Doomsday scenarios were bombarded with daily: climate change gonna kill us, world’s gonna end in 12 years, ain’t no God, ain’t no purpose to life, we can know nothing–“You” aren’t you, but just a collection of external characteristics that land you in this or that group. Has anyone suggested to these Experts that even without social media, our culture is, like, saturated with these depressing messages? All brought to us by noozies and Democrats and teacher unions and looniversities and all the rest of [trumpet fanfare] The Smartest People In The World.

Well, there is a God and He has counted the very hairs on our heads, there is a purpose in life, the world that He created is not going to fall apart because people have SUVs and toilet paper, or for any other reasons, and you are you because you are made in His image and redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God–which makes you pretty important!

Teach your kiddies not to listen to the Doomsday no-meaning-no-God crowd, not ever; and for heaven’s sake, take them out of public education. They need to be socialized and taught by their loving families, not by other kids.

‘We’re Doomed! Says Science Big Shot’ (2016)

Secular science comes up with more Doomsday scenarios than you can shake a stick at. With all this stuff going against us, how can we still be here?

In 2016 the guy who runs SETI, the fruitless “Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence”–it’d be nice if they found some intelligence down here–came up with this end-o’-the-world prediction.

We’re Doomed! Says Science Big Shot

Having failed to turn up any extraterrestrial intelligence, he resorts to home-made Artificial Intelligence, plugged into designer babies, that will usher in our doom.

I guess it makes for snappy party conversation. Or something.

Maybe you might say that if you’ve seen one doomsday scenario, you’ve seen ’em all. Here’s one from two years ago.

https://leeduigon.com/2016/01/19/were-doomed-says-science-big-shot/

See, we’re gonna drive ourselves into extinction by replacing ourselves with designer babies that will be endowed with Artificial Intelligence, so much better than real intelligence, which we still can’t quite define, and it’s adios, muchachos, blah-blah-blah…

How many times must this be said, before people get it? “Artificial Intelligence” is only a simulation of what we think might be intelligence. There is no such thing!

“Yeah, but I saw it on TV–!”

*Sigh*

New York to be the Next Atlantis?

http://10awesome.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/6.-atlantis1.jpg

“When in doubt, panic,” somebody once said. The Global Warming gang is panicking.

Now we are told, through the National Academy of Science, that New York and 1,700 other U.S. cities are going to be underwater by the year 2100, thanks to Global Warming–the same Global Warming that mysteriously freezes the Great Lakes and chokes Boston with mountains of snow. The story is all over the Internet. Rather than belabor material which has already been abundantly reported (just search “New York underwater by 2100” and you’ll see what I mean), we called on Dr. Horatio Pinhead, Professor of Smart Science at Baal University. Dr. Pinhead is chairman of the You’re Not Smart So Shut Up Foundation.

“If they think it’s going to be bad when New York sinks beneath the waves,” said Dr. Pinhead, “wait’ll it happens to Topeka. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

“The only way to avoid this doom, and ensure a meaningful life for every human being on the planet,” he said, “is for everyone to pay a whopping great carbon tax and go back to living like 9th-century Scottish peasants. Of course, a small ruling class, advised by scientists, will be essential. And it’s only the smart thing to provide these individuals with gigantic, opulent mansions, private jets, and kobe beef. The moment these conditions are met, we scientists promise to stop all the  bad weather. Oh–and you should stop believing in God, because God can’t do what we can do.”

We asked Dr. Pinhead if he considered it sporting to terrorize ignorant people with apocalyptic scare stories.

“We do it for a good cause, so of course it’s right to do it,” he said. “The world must be governed scientifically–by me and my friends, and by the honest politicians who fund our research, and by nice guys like George Soros. Whatever it takes to get that done, is right.”

“If you’re not a climate scientist who believes in Climate Change,” he added, “shut up. If you’re not a politician with a D after his name, shut up. Shut up and watch TV–uh, if there still is TV. If not, shut up and go to bed.”
