Progress, Maybe?

Well, I’ve posted Joe Collidge’s timeless essay, and supposedly Verizon is working on fixing the outage at their central office–and I’ve loaded a cat video for this evening.

We’re still getting bounced out of internet access, again and again; but now the bounce-outs seem to be getting much shorter. Maybe by tomorrow it’ll all be back to normal. As in “We’ve got ’em now, boys!” said General Custer.

Thanks to all of you who’ve stuck with us throughout this time of intense frustration. And a special thanks to Jill at Chalcedon HQ for posting another update yesterday.

Hello, I Think

What gives? I just made two posts without my internet connection disappearing on me. This will be three posts, if I finish it.

Verizon promised that sometime this weekend we’d get our internet back, “in 48 hours or less.” The problem’s at their central office, they said.

They didn’t tell me whether things would get better gradually or all at once.

Well, if it’s possible for me to operate this blog today, I’ll do it. I am overjoyed to be with you all again.

I wonder what happened to Joe Collidge…

I Knew It!

It was too good to be true. I knew it.

We had Internet access for about three hours after the tech guy left, and no it’s fading in and out on us every few minutes. So I’d better hurry up and post this.

Why does nothing work?

Why do we want computers to control our missile system?

Artificial Intelligence… hot dog!

I Missed You!

I just want to say this before I go back outside to try to write a little more book before it rains.

I really missed you guys!

If I do say so myself, we have more than just a blog. It’s a fellowship. We pray for each other, amuse each other, bat around ideas together–and I found it hard, not to be able to do those things.

The technician who came here this morning said our system is working just fine, there’s nothing wrong with it, no reason for it not to keep on functioning as it should. Then again, he couldn’t find any reason why it stopped functioning for two weeks, getting a bit worse every day and totally kicking the bucket early Wednesday morning. He searched, but couldn’t find. I don’t hold it against.

Anyway, O friends and readers, I really missed your company.

Well, well! As soon as the Verizon technician got here, the cuss’t thing started working again. I sort of expected that. It knows the guy is here and thus decided to play possum. “Look! I’m working, I’m working!” And you know what’s going to happen five minutes after he leaves.

I very much doubt we’re out of the woods yet.

Thank You, Readers

Well, now I have hardly any internet access at all, and Verizon won’t get to it till Thursday–

So I want to say thank you to all of you who’ve shown up to read today, even though I haven’t posted hardly anything. I hope you’re making use of the archives, which go back to 2012: thousands of articles you can enjoy (if that’s the word for it).

I find the archives illuminating. One forgets certain things, especially where current events are involved. But some of my posts from 2018-2019, for instance, tell me that liberals were trying to get all the jailbirds sprung from jail well before they actually started doing it this year. The Chicom Death Virus, they pounced on that as an excuse to do what they’d been wanting to do all along.

Or you could binge-read Joe College, or Oy, Rodney, if you just don’t care what happens to your brain.

Desk Jobs Keep You Sharp?

boring desk job - American Grit

Sharp as a tack!

Science sez desk jobs keep you sharp! Great for your cognitive ability!

Or so says a study by the University of Cambridge, studying 8,500 adults for twelve years (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3864528/posts).

So why do I feel like my brain is leaking out my ears, sitting here at the computer and trying to get stuff posted?

We might also ask, if certain people are this dull with their desk jobs, what would they be like if they weren’t working?

And a note just handed me, “Saving of draft failed…” So we’ll see how this turns out.

If you like futility, I’ve got it to spare! Come and get it.

Stuck Till Thursday

Verizon finds the problem is not our computers, but “an outside line,” which they will fix on Thursday. Till then, slogging through endless computer problems will continue. This month is a dead loss, so far.

I guess I’ll go looking for some nooze to report. If I’m really lucky, I won’t find any.

But at least I’ve finally seen a hummingbird.

As we sit here waiting for the Verizon repair service to call back (40 minutes late by now), I went outside to write a bit and saw something that I’d never seen before, not ever–

A hummingbird!

I thought it was a butterfly at first, until I got a better look at it. Wow. First time in my life I’d ever seen one, flitting around our neighbor’s monarda.

And now I have to leave in case the phone rings.

Hummingbird: God is nigh.

I’m Trying, Honest

Sigh – A Post-Election Sermon | think and let think

If you’re wondering why I haven’t reblogged any posts from Christian bloggers lately, well, I’m trying! WordPress hasn’t been letting me do it. I go through all the steps, and on the original blog the message appears: the post has been reblogged on my site. Only of course it hasn’t. It’s been shot off somewhere into cyber-limbo.

I won’t even describe what I have to do now to get a post published. And I’d better hurry up with this one!
