The Mongolian Death Worm

www.cvltnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/M...

All I wanted to do was add another post–and WordPress torpedoed me. Suddenly the whole format has been changed. I don’t know what I’m looking at. I have no idea why they do this to their users., I can’t start a new paragraph, and now I can’t see what I’m writing!

I just found the paragraph.

When Roy Chapman Andrews was organizing his 1926 Gobi Desert expedition, to search for fossils, Mongolian authorities asked him to keep an eye out for a kind of “death worm” inhabiting the desert: two feet long, looks like a sausage, and just to touch it causes instant death. How he was supposed to collect a specimen was not explained.

Several expeditions since then have tried, but no one has yet found any trace of the death worm.

I think it has moved to WordPress and is feeding on the brains of defenseless users. Like me.

I have no idea whether I’ll be able to post this. Here goes nothin’.

It’s Geek to Me

I keep trying to get my reblog function restored, but WordPress won’t play ball with me. Yesterday, though, they told me there is a way to get it back–if….!

It turns out all I gotta do is swovver the metopes while re-frangiulating the carcosa, taking care not to sanforize. This will activate the Zimiersky pelops; and then it only remains to stozzle the last binzuc, and I’m home free.

Do these people truly, genuinely, not understand that most of their customers are not big-time computer nerds and we don’t know what they’re flaming talking about? Can’t anybody speak plain English?

So I was forced to tell them not to do any of those things they suggested, because I have no idea what they’re talking about or what further disasters might be visited upon me if I let them go ahead.

I’ll let you know if they come up with anything else.

Quokkas Vote 3 Cheers for Jill

What a cute little Quokka family this is... Rottnest Island WA ...

Here at Quokka University, we are impressed–big-time!–by Jill at Chalcedon headquarters, who not only cleaned up this blog, but did it quickly, with hardly any down time. Crikey, can you imagine how many quokkas it would’ve taken to do that job?

We hope this means you’re all going to get your email notifications from now on, that your comments will all be published, and that it will no longer be impossible to view older posts. The reblog still doesn’t work, but probably that had nothing to do with our using an old retired theme. Lee still doesn’t understand what a “theme” is. That makes two of us.

Anyway… could we please get back to business now? We are back in working order, so let’s have some readership! Our regular readers stuck with us through these past five weeks of computer-generated futility, but our casual readership went down the drain.  I’ve heard there is a spotted quoll who knows how to bring it back, but we have to find him before we can ask him.

Here Goes Nothin’…

This blog is supposed to get a whole new look today. I have left it entirely in the hands of Jill at Chalcedon HQ. I don’t know how much time she’ll need to do it, and I don’t know what it’ll look like when she’s done.

To me it feels like diving into a pool blindfolded. (Ignore the woman in the picture above: if you look closely, you’ll see she’s cheating.) You saw it filled with water a minute ago, you expect it to be full of water now–but you don’t know for sure until after you jump off the board.

I don’t know whether I’ll be able to post our customary critter video this evening. It’ll be three hours earlier for Jill, she may still be working on it.

Pray it doesn’t turn out to be a disaster. The whole month of July was a disaster for this blog; we don’t need another one.

S.O.S! Mayday, Mayday…

Is it time to jump your sinking ship? - Giraffe CVs

I’ve just been informed that my blog is using “an old, retired theme” that’s falling apart bit by bit and losing function and will therefor have to be replaced. First I lost my reblog function, now I can’t access my own older posts.

So Jill at Chalcedon HQ is going to design and install a new theme, and heaven help me if it doesn’t work. Everything will probably look different. And if it works differently… well, that’s all I need. I’ll go right round the bend.

In July we lost three weeks’ worth of Internet access, and now the blog has sprung several leaks which must be addressed before the whole thing capsizes like the island of Guam if they put any more Marines on it.

I pray I’ll see you all tomorrow.

I’m PO’d at WordPress

Little Boy With Grin On His Face Taking Away Toy Car From His ...

I’ve been back and forth with WordPress for two weeks, trying to get my Reblog function restored. At first they kept saying they were working on it. But yesterday came the final word: No. No reblog for you.

Bottom line is, I had Reblog, I made good use of it, and then they took it away and won’t give it back. Why won’t they give it back? Something about a Business plan or whatevvuh: snow the poor user with a lot of computer lingo, he might give up and go away.

I like to share posts with you from other Christian bloggers. And it boosts my readership, too. Why won’t WordPress let me do that anymore? Ooh-ooh, wait, I know! I’ll bet they have a policy! You don’t need to think if you have a policy!

My tech support does not know why I’ve lost my Reblog, nor does she know how I can get it back. And WordPress is making out like I never had it in the first place!

What have I ever done to them? Why don’t they just give me back my Reblog and then I’ll shut up about it?

Well, they’re not the only company that thumbs its nose at its customers, are they?

*Sigh* So Much for Reblogs

Well, WordPress finally admitted this afternoon that I have no reblog capability and I’m not gonna get any, either.

On the off chance that maybe, somehow, my reblog function got restored–like when you’re looking everywhere for your cat, high and low: and the next thing you know, she’s sitting in the middle of the living room floor, washing–I tried today to reblog a post from Joshua’s blog, “Spread the Word.” It didn’t work. Wouldn’t work for the WordPress “happiness engineer,” either.

Oh, I could study a special video and learn how to do some ridiculously complicated workaround… but that would only give me a hot head. And I can’t contact Jill, my tech support, because AOL Mail is down. Oh, fap.

Things are not working in Computer-Land.

Again, if you’re wondering why I’ve stopped reblogging posts from your blog, the answer is, I haven’t. I have been stopped from doing it. As Sir Thomas Malory would say, That me repenteth.

Are You Getting Your E-Mail Notifications?

See the source image

According to WordPress, I have almost 1,600 followers. And yet my views here are down 100-120 a day from what they were two months ago. What gives?

Well, today someone told us that she’d received an email notification of a new post–for the first time in months.

Gee, that would answer the question, “Where did everybody go?” If they’re not getting their email notifications of new posts, they won’t know there are new posts and won’t visit the blog.

Hello out there! Are you getting your email notifications whenever there’s a new post?

WordPress also needs to restore my reblog function, which hasn’t worked in other a month.

It’s very hard to make progress when your support lets you down.

“The New WordPress Editor is coming!”

I do not want a “new” editor. “New” means “different,” and that means not being able to do my work until I learn a whole lot of new improved booshwa. I never asked for a new editor. I don’t know why WordPress would impose these changes on me. I’ve never done them any wrong that I know of.

So toss away another chunk of time, pleading with the Happiness Engineer to leave me in peace with my old editing format which I can actually use. This is among the least profitable activities I know of. The Happiness Engineer’s solution is always to hit you with a lot of computer-nerd lingo, which to me is just pure gibberish. “Here, stupid! Here’s a passel of extra steps for you to take before you can get any work done!”

Do they hate their customers, or do they just hate me?

I am told that I’ll be getting the New Editor whether I like it or not ’cause that’s what we’re gonna do and we don’t care what you think, so go jump in a lake.

All I asked was to be left alone.

What Have They Done to Me?

I wake up this morning and find everything on this computer changed. Microsoft has officially ceased to support Windows 7. It took me ten years to learn what little I know on Windows 7.

So here I am on WordPress and the whole appearance of it, every page of it, has been changed to this ugly, stripped-down look and I don’t know what to do about it. Probably they’ve arranged it so you can never, ever, get it back the way it was. Sort of the way Democrats tear down and pave over woodlands, so that after a while the places you grew up with seem like you only dreamed them.

Well, let me see if I can find a hymn for you…
