‘Gather at the River’ (Burl Ives)

I can never hear this beloved, old-fashioned hymn without thinking of my Uncle Bernie, a wonderful, big-hearted man who late in life finally achieved his dream of being ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church. This hymn was one of his favorites–Shall We Gather at the River, sung by Burl Ives.

Sorry I’m late–wanted to get my bike ride in before it rained.

Sleepy Kittens & Pups

Let’s see, kittens and puppies who are just so sleepy, they can’t help toppling over… Gee, I wonder what would happen if you were real, real tired when you played this video, getting kind of groggy, and you sat there and watched these babiesssss……zzzzzzzzz

Video Treat: The Traveling Octopus

[I yield to Mr. Nature–just too worn-out to cover any more news today.]

Jambo, Mr. Nature here, with more of God’s stuff for you to enjoy.

Here we have an octopus who takes advantage of low tide to creep out of the water and crawl around the land, hunting tasty crabs. These are intelligent and versatile animals, and we’re still a ways from knowing what they’re capable of doing. I heard of an octopus playing Strat-O-Matic baseball, but I’m not inclined to believe it.

Are You Ready to Receive the Mark?

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.   –Revelation 13:16-17

A software design company has offered to implant microchips in the hands of its employees (http://kstp.com/news/wisconsin-company-to-implant-microchips-in-employees-three-square-market/4549459/), and over 50 employees have already consented.

Displaying a total absence of thought, the CEO said, “It’s the next thing that’s inevitably going to happen, and we want to be a part of it.” The shallowness of that comment takes one’s breath away. Talk about big things done for little reasons…

Anyhow, the microchip is supposed to make life super-easy. “I’ll hold my hand up,” said the CEO, “just like my cell phone, and it’ll pay for my product.” ‘Cause it’s just so unbearably strenuous to take some cash out of a wallet.

And best of all, we have his word for it that the chips will be “both encrypted and secure.” Uh-huh. Really, aren’t we a bit too old to believe in fairy tales?

Someday the whole world is going to discover that computerization ain’t quite what it’s cracked up to be. And a lot of people are going to be really, really mad that they were led so far down the garden path.

Kats & Krime

Observe all these different cats stealing money. They have definitely been around humans too long. What they’ll spend it on is anybody’s guess.

Even more closely observe the silly hoser standing there filming the escapade. What’s so silly about that? Well, he just isn’t thinking, when he or she ought to be wondering, “Hmm, what does this cat get up to when I’m not here with my camera?”

Better find a safer place you keep your money, sport.

Lying is a Habit

Former presidential wannabe and snake oil billionaire Al Gore is still leading the Climbit Change movement, still making authoritative pronouncements, and still being believed by–well, at least by millions of Democrats and other kooks.

This is the guy who sez he invented the internet (while flunking out of divinity school). Who, in his presidential campaign, spoke tenderly of his mother singing “Look for the Union Label” to him as a lullaby–never mind he was a grown man when the song came out.

This is a man with a deeply ingrained habit of not telling the truth.

Here’s an Al Gore lie many of you have probably forgotten. He used to tell it a lot, until it was blown up for him in 1997: the claim that he and his wife, now his ex-wife, Tipper, were the inspiration for Erich Segal’s 1970 best-seller, Love Story. (http://www.nytimes.com/1997/12/14/us/author-of-love-story-disputes-a-gore-story.html)

It was Segal himself who said Gore’s story was a lie. He knew Gore at Harvard, and admitted that he used Gore’s “controlling father,” U.S. Senator Al Gore Sr., as the model for his romantic hero’s “emotional baggage.” Other than that, Al Jr. was just plain lying. Segal’s revelation put the kibosh on that one.

Anyway, they’re all still out there selling Global Warming, Save The Planet by giving them vast, undreamed-of power over every nuance of human life on earth–and giving them lots and lots of our money, too.

And shame on anyone who believes them.

Ken Ham: Take Back the Rainbow

My Blue State hometown is dotted with “rainbow” flags–deluded liberals proclaiming their allegiance to the movement for untrammeled sexual anarchy: “gay rights” for short. These are second in popularity only to “Science is real” signs. Oh, they’re so smart.

Ken Ham, though, the man behind the creation museum, has launched a campaign to reclaim the rainbow as a symbol of God’s faithfulness (http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/ken-hams-ark-encounter-boat-issues-call-christians-reclaim-rainbow-lgbt/)–which of course is what it originally was: see Genesis 9:13. Ham has a life-size replica of the Ark which, from now on, is to be lit up by rainbow lights every night.

We know he’s right because nooze media all over the country are dumping on him for it, and they wouldn’t be doing that if he weren’t one of the good guys. If he were evil and wrong, they’d be praising him to the skies.

So they’re waiting for us all to “age out”–die–so there won’t be anyone left to tell them that they’re wrong.

But God’s word will never age out, and never stop telling them they’re wrong.

And as for who will speak God’s word to them–as John the Baptist testified, “God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham” (Luke 3:8).
