Think about this thing that God has done. He has made it possible–in fact, not at all unusual–for members of totally different species to love each other.
Would we have thought of that, if any of us had made the heavens and the earth? No way we would have thought of that!
You have to be in a bad way indeed, if being hugged by a cat (or fussed over by a dog) doesn’t soothe your soul.
God loves us by pouring love on us!

Hi, Mr. Nature here, with something to wash out the bad taste of the last news report. You’ve seen jerboas (Old World jumping mice) before, but none like this.
The long-eared jerboa has never been filmed before, and we’re lucky to have this clip. When they say “long-eared,” they’re not kidding. I can’t think of any creature that has bigger ears than this, proportional to its size.
Are we sure we’re not looking at a special effect in a movie?

Watch what happens when these two little boys stop petting this lemur. I should say, “try to stop.”

Our ancient dogwood tree has blossomed, and the one old, old tulip we had is now a pair of gorgeous red tulips.

I’ve seen this going on in my yard many, many times, but I still get a kick out of it–a squirrel playing with a stick. Maybe you’ve seen it, too. They do this when there don’t happen to be any other squirrels around to play with. This little game with the stick argues for imagination, intelligence, and a certain joy in living on the squirrel’s part.
God’s stuff works!
Well, don’t that beat all! A baby squirrel falls out of its nest, the people put it in the box with the kittens, and the little fellow fits right in. The mommy cat treats it just like one of her kittens, loves it, feeds it, grooms it–and the baby squirrel has learned to purr.
God’s stuff not only works. It works better than we can imagine.
Very soon–if not already, depending on where you live–some of you will be blessed by the music of these tiny frogs calling for mates. Spring peepers usher in the spring.
The procession of the seasons, according to God’s ordering of things, is an infallible sign of His sovereign government over all of His creation–a very good thing to remember, in the face of the tide of wickedness and folly that overflows this present age.
Someday, according to God’s plan, all of that will be abolished. He will regenerate His entire creation, and put all of it under Jesus Christ, the King of Kings.
Trust in the Lord.

Right now it’s snowing sideways and we’ve already got almost two feet of it on the ground, with more to come. Dig that Global Warming.
But here’s an animal that normally inhabits the northern coast of Greenland and some of the really, really cold parts of Canada–the musk ox.
The babies are cute as buttons. They will grow up to weigh 800 pounds with very sharp horns, and for big animals, they’re very light on their feet. In modern times they’ve been introduced to places where they lived during prehistoric times, such as Siberia, where they seem to be doing well.
North coast of Greenland–wow. Who would expect anything to be able to live there–let alone a large herbivorous mammal?
There’s no quibbling with God’s stuff, though. It always works.
Hi, Mr. Nature here with more of God’s stuff that really works, even if our stuff that we invented hardly ever works properly.
Behold the archer fish, a native of Australia and Indonesia. How does he get at the tasty bugs crawling out of reach, out of the water? He folds his tongue into a tube and knocks ’em down with a jet of water. As you can see from the video, he’s very accurate.
I wonder… If you had an archer fish in your aquarium, could you train him to squirt people? But that’s an idle thought.
God’s works are all around us, everywhere we look, all testifying to His glory.
I’m having technical prombles today, so let me just try this. If it works, you’ll see a brief video of the angel-winged katydid. Relax and enjoy it!
Katydids are pretty, and they sing a cool song on summer nights. They are also part of God’s stuff, which always works–in contrast to our stuff, which hardly ever does.
