‘They Shall Be as Gods’ (2019)

I wrote this before any of us ever heard of COVID-19. In fact, the big scare at the time was… measles.

They Shall Be as Gods

Curing diseases is a good thing. God gave us brains for that. But setting up the humanist state as an idol, that’s not a good thing. In fact it was the dirtiest trick the 20th century ever played on the human race, and we’re still living with it today.

Yowsah, yowsah! Just give us absolute power over everyone and everything, and nobody will ever get sick!

Do you think they might’ve been deliriously happy when COVID came along?

‘A Modern Miracle’ (2016)

Ernest Shackleton

I hope you don’t mind if I run this post again. Patty and I have been sick since New Year’s and we need a miracle. We need you now, O Lord. In Jesus’ name, please heal us.

As World War I was breaking out, explorer Ernest Shackleton embarked on an expedition to cross Antarctica. Their ship came to grief, and it all came down to this: Shackleton and two others had to cross the ocean in a small boat, climb uncharted glaciers, and fetch help. Otherwise everybody dies.

A Modern Miracle

Read the rest; it isn’t long. A miracle described in the Bible recurred to save Shackleton.

How long would we last without the Lord’s protection?

God Sets Them Up and Sets Them Down

The Insanity of Pride | Feeling God's Pleasure

As I press on in my study of Daniel, added by R.J. Rushdoony’s Thy Kingdom Come, I recall that I asked, the other day, “Is there a spiritual world that impinges on our world and can make its effects felt?”

The answer is “yes.”

God taught King Nebuchadnezzar, “… the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsoever He will, and setteth up over it the basest of men” (Daniel 4:17).

God decides who’s king and who isn’t, and how long the king gets to be a king.

Because the spiritual world and our world are connected; and God is the connection.

Consider blessings and curses. They originate with God, in what we would call the spiritual realm, and are manifested in our world, here on earth: because God rules over both realms and to Him–and not to us!–the worlds are one and the same. Again, God Himself is the connection. He is Lord over both realms.

All this stupid, crazy stuff that’s going on in our world today–we can’t see how, but it is all part of God’s purpose. All this stupid, crazy stuff originates with fools in rebellion against Him and against His created order. It all fails, and will continually fail.

God took away Nebuchadnezzar’s reason, reduced him to an animal existence: so  that Nebuchadnezzar would learn to understand that God gave him his kingdom and God took it away: God rules in the kingdom of men–our world–and gives it to whomsoever He will. It took Nebuchadnezzar several years of living like a beast to learn that lesson; but learn it he did. Others never learn, and eventually God removes them.

The spiritual world is intimately connected with ours: the Bible says so.

But it’s something we forget a lot. To our cost.

‘Babbling About Babel’ (2018)

Even a fool, King Solomon said, might pass for wise, if he can only keep his mouth shut.

But what we have here is a whole posse of fools displaying their ignorance not just by prattling away about things they know nothing about, but going on to make a documentary about it.

Babbling about Babel

It’s astounding that so many people could be so wrong, all at once. What if someone assembled a whole production company to make a documentary about Abraham Lincoln leading America through World War II? Heaven knows what these films cost.

Well, our apparent ignorance of the Bible does go far to explain the way our country has wound up.

Secular humanist triumphalism is the religion of most of this world’s ruling class: they mean to replace God. They intend to do all the things God should have done, but of course couldn’t do because He doesn’t exist. So runs their thinking.

Among the wonderful things they plan to do is to eradicate all–repeat, all–disease from the earth: Science will enable them to do this, because Science is pretty much all-powerful. You can’t buy God, but you can buy Science. This they have done.

But here’s the problem. Once they’ve got their shingle out, once they’re set up in the god business, it becomes a poor reflection on them if anyone gets sick. With them in charge, that’s not supposed to happen. Hence mandatory vaccinations against every disease known to medicine; and every time a not-terribly-serious disease, like measles, manifests itself… Well, they’ve got a crisis. A chicken pox crisis, say. Requiring prompt and decisive action by the state. A mandatory chicken pox vaccine. Enforced with fines and prison sentences. You get the idea.

Read their writings. A full and meaningful life for all. No more poverty. No more war. No more national borders: the same global state will govern all.

But the more they do, the more people will expect of them. We’ve already seen this. For instance, with real, raw racism abolished in America insofar as humanly possible, imaginary racism has to take its place–as something for the power of the state to be mobilized against, to feed on, and to grow.

Because everything they do has only one purpose: to expand the reach and power of the state, with themselves in charge of it. It may seem absurd to make laws against using the “wrong” pronouns; but it’s also the state claiming power over the very words out of your mouth. More power. Always more power.

God humbled Nebuchadnezzar.

He will humble secular humanism.

I just want to be there when He does!
