‘Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?’

It’s Good Friday, a holy day, the day we dedicate to the crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Never forget! Death could not keep its prey; God rolled the stone away.

Where You There When They Crucified My Lord?, sung by Johnny Cash.

Remember: this was the payment for our sins. This was forgiveness.

‘Will a Pastor Really Say… Anything?’ (2013)

Anthony Weiner, a former Democratic congressman who pleaded guilty to one count of sexting a teenage girl leaves Federal Court after being sentenced...

Gone but not forgotten…

Was the pastor hopping into bed with the politician, or the politician hopping into bed with the church?

Will a Pastor Really Say… Anything?

Anthony Wiener, Congressman and sex maniac, was running for mayor of New York City back then. When his various misbehaviors came to light, the pastor of his church wrote it all off as “a mistake.” You know: like mislaying your car keys. Or repeatedly sending nude photos of yourself to women you don’t know. Could happen to anybody.

Certainly no reason for a pastor to shut his church off from the political gravy train–eh?

‘”Irrational Humanism” Explained’ (2019)

Did Mark Rushdoony ever hit the nail on the head with this one!

‘Irrational Humanism’ Explained

Today is Palm Sunday, marking Our Lord Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Not a day to be down-hearted! Not a day to wring one’s hands and think the ungodly are winning.

Yes, there’s a lot of crazy crapola in our modern world. But it will not prevail.

We have God’s word on it!

China Shuts Down Missionaries

China Moves to Formally Ban Missionary Activity ...

The head villain, Hsi Chin-P’ing [sorry, no hablamos Pin Yin aqui.

(American “progressives” are drooling with envy.)

For reasons which have not been made entirely clear, Communist China has banned Christian missionary activity in its country (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/04/08/china-moves-to-formally-end-christian-missionary-activity/). The ban goes into effect May 1.

Why are they doing this?

I think it’s a fit of pique, brought on by America raising tariffs on China. We’ve been paying those tariffs for years, practically financing the communist dictatorship. And then along comes Donald Trump and hits them with 100%-plus tariffs. Yowch!

But as is the case with any communist regime, The State must be upheld as the supreme authority (and, by extension, the Party that owns The State). The chicoms (bless their hearts) “allow” religions–as long as they acknowledge the supremacy of the Party and The State and never, never, never make waves. The Party likes to tell the world that sure, it allows religious freedom. Uh-huh. And the sun rose in the west today.

And is it possible that the Party fears the Christian churches? Check out 2,000 years of history: tyrannical governments always fear God’s justice. They know they’re punks. They know they’ll be condemned unless they change. But they’re too deeply steeped in sin to change… so they knock themselves out trying to change everybody else. They want to sit where King Jesus sits. But the seats they wind up with will be hotter than that.

‘Am I a Soldier of the Cross?’

Mark Twain quoted this hymn in Huckleberry Finn. It’s a classic by Isaac Watts: Am I a Soldier of the Cross?, sung here by Blessing Samuel.

‘They’re Not Just Idiots…’ (2016)

Angry Atheists Gonna Hate - CultureWatch

They’re always angry, all the time…

Anyone would wonder about me if I sought out atheist websites and went on them to preach the Gospel. (I think we’d need St. Paul for that.) But what about atheists who seek out Christian sites just so they can complain about the content?

They’re Not Just Idiots…

Whoever invented that folk tale about “separation of church and state” has a lot to answer for.

‘In Defense of Hell’ (2017)

1,067 Elevator Going Down Stock Videos, Footage, & 4K Video ...

This elevator only goes one way.

This blog post inspired a lively discussion. This doesn’t seem to happen anymore–not since I was carted off to the hospital.

In Defense of Hell

So is there a Hell, or isn’t there? A place of eternal punishment. Eternal torment. Forever cut off from God.

Well, let me put it this way. I’m not going to do evil just on the off chance that John Lennon was right and there is no Hell. I’m not going to anticipate being issued a Free Pass/Get Out of Jail Free card as soon as my soul takes leave of my body. I don’t want to be on that one-way elevator, “Going down.”

‘They’re Not Just Idiots…’ (2016)

Pictures of: 'boarded up' - GoodSalt

They don’t like church–either in real space or in cyberspace.

Maybe because it was an election year, in 2016 YouTube was full of atheists complaining about Christian hymns on Christian websites.

They’re Not Just Idiots…

I no longer doubt they know what they’re doing. I think they damn well know. They look at China, Russia, and the European Union and are torn between fantasy and envy: fantasy, in that they convince themselves that these political arrangements would ever morph into anything but tyranny; and envy, because North Korea has it and we don’t! Oh, if only their government packed the coercive wallop that they have in North Korea!

‘A Good Christian’ (2014)

Clergy for Choice

See? We’re supposed to get along with everything and go along with everything. Simple!

I see no reason to change anything I said in this 2014 post (https://leeduigon.com/2014/03/27/a-good-christian/). After all, nothing I was writing about seems to have changed at all.

We let the fallen world tell us what Christianity is supposed to be–a 24/7/365 surrender to that world. They act like they’re doing us a spectacular favor, just allowing us to keep our churches open.

And maybe they are–eh? Who can say what kind of superhuman effort it takes for them NOT to shut down churches?

‘Revive Us Again’

I don’t care for this rendition of the hymn, but my wife thought it was awesome. I yield to her judgment. Maybe you’ll like it, too.

Revive Us Again, a classic hymn by Fanny Crosby–by Dr. E. Dewy Smith and his congregation.
