Still sinkin’ in the quicksand

Once again the D.C. Swamp has turned back efforts to drain it (we know who you are, Mitch McConnell–Republican “leader” who wouldn’t back Republican candidates). SloJo Biden’s shambles of a presidency has two more years to make us wish our fathers never met our mothers.

And they keep finding these really screwed-up people to bring into the government.

Pervocracy

Do they actually go out looking for some of these characters? “Sorry, you won’t do–too sane!” That guy Fetterman was no prize before he had his stroke; now, completely ga-ga, he’s not only going to be one of Pennsylvania’s U.S. senators… but some noozies are already talking him up as presidential timber. “Wahoo! We finally found someone more zoned out than Biden!”

Work, pray, plead for God’s mercy…

The Republican Part of the Swamp

Image result for images of very bad swamp

No one comes home poor from Capitol Hill. We all know that, don’t we?

We’ve learned to call it “the Swamp.” Elected officials, appointed officials, career bureaucrats–all feeding from the public trough. Feeding their families from the public trough. It’s all tax money, an infinitely renewable resource. And just having a connection to some big gator in the swamp can land you a fabulous no-show job on a Ukrainian gas board. Your whole family can eat the public’s flesh and suck its blood.

So along comes Donald Trump with a cry of “Drain the Swamp!” And the American people realize they want to drain the Swamp. Only the Swamp doesn’t want to be drained, and it’s fighting to keep its hold on the country’s major blood vessels.

Enter Joe Biden, doddering, lying, corrupt Joe Biden. A lifelong creature of the Swamp. Now the Democrat front-runner, the Party establishment having crushed Crazy Bernie Sanders like a bug.

And enter assorted “conservatives” who’ve been kind of quiet about all this so far, but have suddenly discovered unexpected wonderfulness in Jibbering Joe.

A few days ago on townhall.com, it was some “conservative” rhapsodizing on “Joe’s fundamental decency.” Good grief. Where did that come from? The next day it was another writer, this one praising Biden’s “good common sense.” Here we have entered the Twilight Zone. And yesterday it was someone else again, saying how Biden’s the business as usual candidate and surely we can live with that, it’s not that awful.

What kind of jolly-juice are they drinking? Dudes, Joe Biden is not from the Swamp. Joe Biden is the Swamp.

They’re even talking about bringing back creepy John Kerry for another go-round as secretary of state. “We can too arm Iran with nuclear weapons! Just see if we don’t!” And we can go back to full-blown Obamacare.

Oh! and if the Democrat platform is to be believed, we can erase our southern border, get those illegals into the voting booth, lock up everybody who doesn’t believe in Man-Made Climate Change, and see how many trillions of dollars we can piss away, and how fast we can do it, before the whole shebang collapses.

Evidently there are Republicans who like the Swamp just the way it is, one big, happy family up there on the Hill, don’t rock the boat, there’s plenty of goodies for all. They’ve been afraid to come out as Never-Trumpers. But now they’re Sometimes-Bideners.

‘Your Tax $$ at Work: Bored Federal Employees Watch Porn All Day'(2014)

And when they’re done watching porn, it’s nap time!

Y’know what? I don’t think a lot of people are as grateful as they should be that Hillary Clinton did not become our president in 2016. Because if there’s any two culprits joined at the hip, it’s the Democrat Party and government employees’ unions. It’s what we call The Swamp.

Your Tax $$ at Work: Bored Federal Employees Watch Porn All Day

We can hardly dare hope that this has ceased since we got a new president who is not a Democrat; but we know for sure it wouldn’t have ceased had the Democrats kept control of the executive branch. In fact, any efforts to put a stop to it–here we have wandered off into fantasy: there would not have been such efforts–would not have been allowed to succeed.

Poison your culture, and it’ll poison everything.

God Is Not an Absentee Landlord

As distressed as I am by this development, I feel obliged to comment.

We elected Donald Trump to protect us from the corrupt predators of the Swamp in Washington, D.C. But yesterday they hogtied him and got him to sign their trillion-dollar spending bill. In it the bad guys got everything they want while we got nothing–no border wall, no relief from the Swamp’s incontinent and wicked spending. They also gave themselves another hefty pay raise; and having done all that, rushed out of town for their vacations.

Now what?

I went outside. The sky’s still blue, the birds still sing, and God’s still here. By “here”I mean everywhere. He is not an absentee landlord, sunning himself on a beach in Antigua while his property just goes to pot.

Pray harder, sing louder.

O Lord our God, exercise your sovereignty, your glory: turn the Swamp’s rejoicing into tears and lamentations: intervene for our good, and save our country. Look past our sins and frustrate your enemies for your great Name’s sake, and for the sake of our rightful King, Jesus Christ, and in His name, Amen.

Repeal This Amendment!

See the source image

As usual, leftids and noozies are clamoring for the repeal of the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. They want only criminals and the government to be armed, and normal people to be defenseless.

Forget about it. The amendment most in need of repeal is now, as it has been ever since it was adopted in 1913, the Seventeeth Amendment.

Originally the Constitution provided for each state’s two U.S. senators to be selected by their respective states’ legislatures. That was because their job was to represent their states.

But in 1913 this was changed so that from then on, senators would be elected by popular vote. This has been an inexhaustible source of mischief and corruption.

Now, instead of representing their states, U.S. senators represent national and even global special interests. Every time a lobbyist buys a senator, he becomes the proud owner of 1% of the total vote. And you’d better believe the senators are for sale. And it’s really hard to get rid of them. If you’re a senator and the National Education Assn. is supporting you, that means virtually unlimited funds for your re-election campaign.

Out-of-state money and even foreign money pours into key elections, with the people of those states at best a minor consideration. It’s become a disgusting spectacle.

You can talk about draining the swamp from now till Doomsday: but the popularly-elected U.S. Senate is the very heart of the swamp. The Senate is the Swamp. If it were returned to its original, pre-17th Amendment form, the swamp would find it hard to stay in business.

My Newswithviews Column, Nov. 30 (‘Why We Can’t Drain the Swamp’)

It’s getting hard to keep up. Matt Lauer and Garrison Keilor have fallen, since I wrote this a few days ago. Rush Limbaugh opened his phone lines to any Democrat who is not a sexual predator, but nobody called.

Pervocracy

Somebody said, over Thanksgiving dinner, “Well, gee, if you kicked all the perverts and sex fiends out of Congress, you wouldn’t have much left…”

Ooh-ooh! Wait a minute! What a good idea!

I mean, where is it written that our country must be governed by creeps who, when they are not collecting money from lobbyists and betraying the interests of the wider public, spend most of their time chasing girls and women up and down the halls of the Capitol Building, or anywhere else?

Like, could we at least, uh, try being governed by sane and decent people instead of perverts, thieves, liars, idiots, and loons? What could it hurt, just to try it for a little while? We could always go back to a pervocracy, if we felt we really had to.

The American people, by electing Donald Trump, made it clear that they want people in office who will drain the Swamp–that is, Washington, D.C. Drain the Swamp, clean out the corruption.

Only of course the Swamp does not want to be drained. The Swamp resembles the Great Grimpen Mire in The Hound of the Baskervilles: one false step by man, pony, or dog, and it’s death–sucked all the way down to the bottom. I’m getting a sense that Washington does that to the people that we send there.

There’s something to be said for keeping all the crooks in Washington. It’s easier to keep on eye on them. Except nobody does seem to keep an eye on them, and they keep on wasting our money, mismanaging the country, and chasing girls and women up and down the halls. One close look at D.C., and you’ll be convinced John Calvin was right about Total Depravity and Original Sin.

Term limits might help, if you could ever get Congress to vote to put themselves out of business. Don’t hold your breath for that.

If I knew what to do, I’d tell the world; but I don’t. The Swamp will fight to stay alive and groping. The Swamp is rich, strong, and totally unfettered by any moral scruples.

Put our trust in God, and do our best.
