Common Core Teaches Only “Science” is True

http://www.writeonnewjersey.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Mad-Scientist.jpg

If you read nothing else today, read the New York Times article by philosophy professor Justin McBrayer, “Why Our Children Don’t Think There Are Moral Facts” ( http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/03/02/why-our-children-dont-think-there-are-moral-facts/ ).

Professor McBrayer discovered that, as part of Common Core–control of public education curriculum, nationwide, by the federal government–children are being taught that something is either a Fact or an Opinion. A fact, said a poster in his son’s second-grade classroom is something that is true about a subject and can be proven. An opinion is what someone thinks, feels, or believes.

So what’s wrong with that?

First, says the professor, the teaching is that “truth” and “proof” are the same thing–when, of course, they aren’t. “It’s a mistake to confuse truth (a feature of the world) with proof (a feature of our mental lives).”

Second, he explains, the teaching is that any claim is either a fact or an opinion–never both. “Value claims,” therefore–claims that an act is right or wrong, good or evil, “are not facts.”

Yup, everything but mainline “science” is just a fantasy in someone’s individual mind, and can only be ignored.  So there’s no such thing as “truth”: it’s either “your truth” or “my truth.” Thank you, Pontius Pilate.

The professor is right on target, as far as he goes. But his article does not explain why the same moral illiterates who teach children that the only claims that are “true” are those “facts” established by Science, fly into a frenzy at the slightest suggestion that, for instance, marriage consists of a man and a woman. There is no “scientific proof” that it does. There is no “scientific proof” that it doesn’t. But just say the magic words, and that whole “your truth, my truth” thing goes out the window and the Diversity crowd wants to destroy you.

Prof. McBrayer does suggest that there is a certain element of Doublethink involved in this whole enterprise. That’s putting it mildly.

So what do you get when you have “scientific truth” without any concept of moral truth?

You get Frankenstein. Every single time.

Is It Time for College to Die Out?

http://www.educar.org/prehistoria/fosiles/brontosaurus.jpg

Our university system is a dinosaur; and it’s getting awfully expensive to feed this dinosaur. Is it time for college to die out?

In a word–yes.

With over $1 trillion in student debt weighing down our economy, with kids sitting in college classrooms for five years, maybe six, and coming out with degrees in Gender Studies and $200,000 in the hole, what are we getting out of our university system?

According to the Education Testing Service, the outfit that administers the SATs, precious little ( http://fortune.com/2015/03/10/american-millennials-are-among-the-worlds-least-skilled/ ). ETS tested for job skills among persons 16 to 65 years old, in 23 countries; and the scores posted by American “millenials” (born after 1980) were described by ETS as “abysmal.”

What can’t our college students and recent graduates do? ETS found they really stink at literacy (including the ability to follow simple instructions), practical math, and “problem-solving in a technology-rich environment.”

Look, folks, this is what happens when you decide that everybody–yes, everybody–has to go to college and get some kind of degree. So the college system expands enormously to take in millions of students who have no  bent for scholarship and really need to be out in the real world, getting work experience. You know they’re not going to be able to earn degrees in engineering or Renaissance poetry or physics, so you keep ’em sitting in the classroom for four or five years of prolonged adolescence until they are rewarded with altogether useless degrees in altogether useless pseudo-subjects.

The university was originally set up for scholarship, and scholarship is not for everybody. Many are desperately bored by it.

So you wind up with these millions of young people who can’t do bupkus, who’ll never get out of debt, who live at home and occasionally work part-time.

You also wind up with a whole class of nudnicks who are good for absolutely nothing but “teaching” useless subjects to students who turn out to be useless.

Please don’t argue that someone needs a college degree to get started in a career in any field, you just gotta have one…

ETS has proved you wrong.

Child Suspended from School for ‘Threat’ to Use Magic Ring

Three rings for climate scientists, who think they’re so sly

Seven for the liberals, with their heads of stone

Nine for pigs who think they can fly

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,

In the land of Davos, where the noozies lie

One ring to dupe them all, one ring to fool them,

One ring to dumb them down, one ring to public school them…

People Are Smarter Than Ever Dept.

So a 9-year-old boy goes with his family to see The Hobbit, and, a few days later, still grooving on the movie, he joshes with one of his classmates that he has the One Ring from the movie, and he’ll use it to make the other kid invisible.

“School officials” at Kermit Elementary School, near Odessa, Texas–they’re part of the education establishment that’s making people smarter than ever–naturally had a kazoo over this, and suspended the little fellow for making a terrorist threat. You know–like he really had the One Ring from the Tolkien books, and really could use its magical power to make a kid disappear (even though the ring, in the books, only makes the wearer disappear: but the 9-year-old probably hasn’t read the books). The school principal declined to comment, citing confidentiality. ( http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/texas-boy-suspended-bringing-ring-power-school-article-1.2099103 )

Where do they get the weirdos who run our public schools, the wackos who “teach” our children? And why, oh, why! do people still insist on sending their kids to those schools? Do school officials not understand that the One Ring is fantasy? That the kid saw it in a movie and was only playing?

This same child has been suspended twice before: once for saying a black child was black, and once for bringing to class The Big Book of Knowledge, a children’s encyclopedia, hoping to get extra credit for Science. The book had a picture of a pregnant woman in it, so they suspended the child.

If you can figure out what makes these people tick, do me a favor and don’t tell me.

Public schooling–making people smarter every day!

Are We Smarter Than Our Ancestors?

I’m having a controversy with a guy who says that, thanks to universal public education, widespread literacy, and other features of modern civilization, “People today are smarter than ever.”

Pity the poor ancients. It was all they could do to invent writing, build roads and aqueducts, sculpt out of cold, dry marble what seems to be wet cloth clinging to the skin, create the calendar, and a lot of other achievements that look pretty trivial compared to “gender reassignment” surgery. Later on they came up with other poor excuses for progress, like the printing press, ocean navigation, watches and clocks, paintings by dullards like Giotto and plays by clods like Shakespeare. You could hardly find anything they did worthy of being put in a Super Bowl halftime show.

I wonder if our ancestors, if they could see us now, would think we were clowns and oafs who can’t perform even the simplest and most necessary tasks without the aid of computers: who use high technology to predict blizzards that don’t happen, create school systems that dumb down students, news media that tell lies when they’re not tightly focused on celebrity gossip, rap “music,” and the Kardashians.

I wonder what people will be saying, a thousand years from now, about this stage of human civilization (if we can call it that) with its plummeting birth rates, whole-hearted embrace of perversions, appeasement of Islam, and its uncanny ability to turn out high school or even college graduates who never heard of King Arthur or Julius Caesar, think Switzerland is a country on the Pacific coast, get the Civil War mixed up with World War II (if they’ve even heard of either of them), read at a 5th-grade level, watch movies based on comic books, and have no idea where their food comes from.

Smarter than ever–hot dog!

Are You Absolutely, Positively Sure You Want Your Kids in Public School?

So you still don’t believe the public schools go far out of their way, on purpose, to warp children’s minds and character?

Well, consider this news report from Acalanes High School in northern California, “Parents angry after school tells 13-year-olds they can have sex, choose gender” ( http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/12/10/parents-angry-after-school-tells-13-year-olds-can-have-sex-choose-gender/ ).

I take no pleasure in reporting these disgusting stories. But it’s important to make parents–especially Christian parents!–aware of what is being shoveled into their children’s heads under the guise of public education and its “sex education” programs.

Here, the school brought in Planned Parenthood employees to teach ninth-graders, 13 and 14 years old, that they can have sex and “choose their gender.” It was so over-the-top, “many [students] felt the sessions were pressuring them to have sex,” according to the news report.

And of course, what sex ed program would be complete without telling children “You can be a boy one day and a girl the next, depending on how you feel”? To help deliver this message, the Planned Parenthood “teachers” at Alcalanes used a cute little visual aid, “The Genderbread Person,” to help the kiddies figure out their “gender identity”–because it’s so old-fashioned for boys to be boys and girls to be girls.

Look, people, this is going on in all 50 states; and if you’re one of the millions of parents who think, “Not in our schools–never in our schools,” you need to think again. If this is not in your child’s school just yet, it will be, soon enough.

I wonder what the public “educators” would have to do, to provoke parents to pull their kids out of the public schools. Set fire to the building? What do they have to do to your kids before you say, “No more!”

Again I Ask–Is England Anti-Christian?

Wait’ll American liberals get hold of this hot new idea from Across the Pond.

Government schools in England are allowing Nativity scenes to be displayed, this Christmas season. There’s just one catch.

In many of these, reports The Telegraph, the Baby Jesus has been replaced by a figure of Elvis Presley or a space alien, with lobsters and fairies instead of sheep and shepherds ( http://eagnews.org/school-nativity-scenes-replace-baby-jesus-with-elvis-aliens-and-recycling-bins/ ). Some of the schools even hold “Christmas pageants” in which neither Christ nor Christmas is mentioned.

Is this anything but mockery of Jesus Christ, perpetuated by the usual gang of secularist fat-heads who wouldn’t dare mock Islam?

As usual, the Mother Country is a bit farther down the drainpipe than America. If school officials over here resorted to such blatant mockery of Christianity, they’d have a lot of public outrage to contend with.

Or would they?

Public education–this is a historical fact, so don’t bother arguing otherwise–was created to wean Christians away from Christianity, replacing it with worship of the State and its anointed Experts. It also seeks to ease out the family and replace it with the State.

And yet millions of Christian parents in America, every day, continue to send their children to these schools–and we can easily see the results of this in the unceasing deterioration, coarsening, and dumbing-down of our culture.

English kids are going to grow up thinking “Christmas” is about nothing coherent at all; they will not know that Christ came in the flesh to save us from our sins.

But, hey–at least those schools are “free”–right?

We Salute a Pioneer

Christians! Get your children out of anti-Christian public schools and into Christian education!

How many times have you heard that? I wish I had a nickel for every time I’ve said it. And we say it because it’s true. Really, how many examples do you need? “Communism has a lot of good ideas…” “You can be a girl today and a boy tomorrow, depending on how you feel…” “The Bible is hate speech…” “You’d better learn to like gay marriage!” These are just a few things that children are being taught in public school, every day, in all 50 states.

Back in the 1970s, R.J. Rushdoony and a few others defended Christian homeschooling against determined efforts by local, state, and federal government to wipe it out. His work inspired others–including the ministry which I salute here today.

Frontline Ministries last month celebrated its 20th anniversary–banquet, speeches, videos, etc. Frontline’s co-founder, E. Ray Moore, ex-Army chaplain, particularly stresses Frontline’s special project, The Exodus Mandate, dedicated to inspiring a mass exodus of Christian children from “Pharaoh’s schools” in America. Expecting to be in it for the long haul, Lt. Col. Moore likens Exodus Mandate’s goal to the lifelong mission of William Wilburforce to abolish the slave trade in the British Empire–a mission that succeeded, but only after decades of struggle and sacrifice.

Exodus Mandate has it right–right on the money. Nothing will do our country more good than for millions of Christian children to be withdrawn from public schools and given a Christian education, either at home, at a church, or at a Christian school.

And conversely, nothing does America more harm than anti-Christian public education.

Col. Moore and his fellow-laborers have preached this message tirelessly for 20 years. As might be expected in this fallen world, the stiffest opposition comes from other Christians. But that doesn’t make him stop.

Inform yourself: visit the Exodus Mandate’s website, http://www.exodusmandate.org .See how public education really and truly is anti-Christian, pagan education. As incredible as it may seem, this is simply true.

I’ve been a public school teacher. I’ve seen what goes on. And I’m here to tell you, every word that Col Moore says about it is the truth.

PS: If you won’t believe Moore, if you won’t believe me, maybe you’ll believe the words of the Experts who founded public education and made it what it is today–a rigorously anti-Christian enterprise. Read The Messianic Character of American Education by R.J. Rushdoony, available from the Chalcedon Foundation store, http://www.chalcedon.edu . These villains were quite candid about what they were trying to do, and didn’t mind putting it in writing.

Godless School Board Axes All Religious Holidays, Then Blames Muslims

Montgomery County, Maryland–home of the state’s biggest public school district, and probably the most left-wing county east of the Mississippi–is in the news again.

This time the county school board voted 7-1 to expunge all–repeat, all–religious holidays from the 2015 school calendar. Then they turned around and blamed the Muslims, saying it was their fault because they’d asked the board to add their “Eid” to the calendar as a religious holiday.

Yup–the Muslims wanted their holiday included, so of course the only thing that could be done was to get rid of all the religious holidays, including Christmas, Easter, and Rosh Hashanah. I wonder how many nanoseconds the board agonized over that.

Now the Muslims are mad because they did not want Christian and Jewish holidays canceled, they do not like getting blamed for it, and getting rid of everybody else’s holidays hasn’t benefited the Muslims in any way.

Hey, guys, welcome to Montgomery County, where the only god they know is Democrat politics.

If this were a case of Muslims demanding the abolition of Christian holidays, it would have been proper to tell them to go back to where they came from if they don’t like our way of life. But it’s not that kind of case. The Muslims are in the clear on this one.

Y’know what? Mad Magazine nailed this about 50 years ago. In an article about “the North American Veeblefetzer Co. Yearbook,” the company president apologized to the employees for having to cancel their Christmas party and bonuses this year, out of deference to the company’s single Muslim employee–hired on Dec. 23. Decades later, in real life instead of in a humor magazine, the ultra-prog Montgomery County School Board picks up on it and does the same thing.

People of Montgomery County, Maryland… I think you’ve just been veeblefetzered.

From Too Disgusting to Quite Disgusting

I have a stern duty to report on the degradation of our culture; but there are times when I can’t quite figure out how to do it on what is supposed to be a Christian website.

There is some news which is just too disgusting for words: that is, I can’t find words to describe it without offending many of my readers and maybe abusing the trust placed in me.

After much deliberation, I’ve decided not to report on the new male sex toy that combines high technology with the most pathetic kind of moral imbecility.

So let me tell you about something that’s almost as disgusting, in its own way: public schools panhandling for whatever money is left in the taxpayer’s pocket after the school budget passes.

“Boxtops For Education” ( http://www.boxtops4education.com/ ) allows your local public school to collect box tops and labels, etc., and redeem them for 10 cents each, and use the money to buy “whatever they need.” (I hope this is not connected to the story I decided not to write about; but you never know what public school sex education programs are going to come up with next.)

In my home town, it now costs over $7 million a year for each of our four public schools–more money than is spent on our police, public works, sanitation, fire-fighting, maintenance, municipal administration, and all other public purposes put together. And yet they’re out there schnorring for dimes? How can public education possibly be short of money?

Uh, because the lion’s share of your school budget every year goes to salaries, pensions, and benefits and is not spent on educational programs or materials, that’s why. So teachers can retire at 55 (or even younger) with enough money to move out West and buy a horse farm, or live it up at Monte Carlo, whatever they please. And school administrators do even better.

So they’re scrounging box tops while they’re calling the cops because a kid’s playing hangman, making sure every school has a Gay-Straight Alliance, hiring “gender coaches” to teach the tots in kindergarten that “you can be a boy one day and a girl the next, depending on how you feel,” and doing all the other things they do to make America’s public education both a scandal and a laughing-stock throughout the world.

So You Still Believe in Public Education?

I dunno, maybe Americans want their kids to be educated by clowns.

Well, for anyone who might actually be swayed by evidence, here is Exhibit 906 million in the Case Against Public Education: “School Forces 5-Year-Old Girl To Sign ‘Suicide Contract’ After An Incident With A Crayon” ( http://2ndamendmentinsider.com/youll-be-disgusted-when-you-discover-the-reason-a-school-forced-a-5-year-old-to-sign-a-suicide-contract/ ).

Yup. A little girl, feeling playful, pointed a crayon at another kid and said something like “poo-poo.” So of course the idiots running the school dragged her off and first “made her take a questionnaire to evaluate her for suicidal thought”–what???–and then had her sign a “safety contract” promising to contact an adult if she was thinking of suicide or homicide. “This all happened while her mom waited in the lobby to pick her up, the upset parent told WPMI,” a radio station in Alabama.

Alabama? But that’s a red state!

The same teacher unions control the public schools in all 50 states. Your child might as well be going to school in Massachusetts.

The child’s mother said “school officials recommended the 5-year-old see a psychiatrist,” WPMI reported.

These are the people you want educating your children? Really? You know, don’t you, that now this child has been marked up as “a suicide risk,” which is going to stay on her record until Doomsday?

More than any other single factor, more so even than what we shamelessly call our politics, public education is responsible for the shambles that America is turning into.

There is no acceptable excuse, morally, for sending one’s child to the public schools.
