Please Bear With Us

Hot Air | The Electron Pencil

We are trying to work around Patty’s fall off the back porch step the other day, and it ain’t easy. She can’t walk because her foot hurts, so she’s using the computer chair as a wheelchair. It’s sort of like having a snow plow in your living room.

I have to go here and there and everywhere today. And I’ll take her car, which we just got back after three weeks at the garage. Squirrels had gnawed the wires, and there was a “rodent nest” under the hood. Maybe if we actually use the car, they’ll leave it alone.

I can’t imagine how I’ll write a Newswithviews column today, so probably I won’t.

Getting her up the stairs is a job.

One gets disheartened, sometimes. We had, I guess, half an hour of peace between getting the car back and Patty falling off the step.

Please pray for us. We need it.

Please Pray for Us

Yesterday afternoon I sat here, working, while Patty was outside talking on the phone.

She suddenly let out a series of screams–and disappeared. I opened the door and found her lying on the sidewalk. She’s not dead or anything like that. No–a yellowjacket flew toward her face while she was talking, another couple of yellowjackets joined in, and she panicked, lost her footing, and fell off the porch step.

Now she’s stuck on the couch, it hurts too much to try to walk… and I’m worn-out, too (and it’s only 8 o’clock). It’d be nice if we had some sunshine, but so far this year we never get two sunny days in a row.

This is getting to be depressing. I mean, it’s one thing after another. We picked up her car yesterday morning. They’d had it in the shop for three weeks: squirrels had chewed up all the wires. Cost a fortune.

We need a break. We need recovery time. Please pray for us.

By Request, ‘Rise Again’

Requested by Erlene–Rise Again, by Dallas Holm.

This year so far has gotten to me, I stand in need of prayer. I hardly know what to say about it. I always thought “Sing louder” was excellent advice–but lately I can’t do it.

Just a Few Thoughts

Does it ever seem to you that this fallen world of ours is falling farther, falling faster, by the day?

For the sake of ten just men, God would have spared Sodom. How many would He have to find here, to spare the U.S.A.?

Our ruling class teaches, preaches, promotes and exalts “transgender” as if their lives depended on it. Why? Does anybody understand that?

If they honestly, truly, sincerely believe “a man can get pregnant!”, then they’re idiots at best, and quite probably lunatics. If they don’t believe it, but say it anyway, then they’re just plain evil. Either way, we lose.

Why do white liberals try to indoctrinate normal people’s children with Critical Race Theory? Ooh, let’s foment racial fear and hatred! We’ll do it in the schools! Why do we let them do it?

Is this still America? Who in 1788 would have dreamed that all this Far Left Crazy trash would ever be imposed on us–and that we’d sit there on our butts and take it?

And that’s just stuff in our country. The rest of the world isn’t doing any better.

IN ADDITION: Please pray for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who has been hospitalized for “an infection,” whatever that is (not COVID, they say), with “flu-like symptoms.” Justice Thomas is one of those just men whom we need if God is not going to pull the plug on us; we can’t afford to lose him. O Lord our God, please save him for us! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

By Request, ‘How Can I Keep from Singing?’

We have a hymn request from Joshua–How Can I Keep from Singing?, by Audrey Assad.

Listen to the lyrics. I know my own heart is in dire need of freshening. Can’t do it myself. I wonder if my prayers are getting through. Please keep me and my family in yours.

By Request, ‘Lord, Take All That I Have’

Requested by Erlene–and please pray for her son, Eric, who is laid up again–Lord, Take All That I Have, by Carroll Roberson.

Eric’s feeling sick, the other son is out of town for work, it’s raining and cold and windy, and Erlene has to somehow take care of their animals: so please pray for God’s blessing for them: they need it.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

I feel emotionally strung out this morning, and found it very hard to select a hymn. I’m also finding it hard to pray, so please pray for me.

Anyhow, here’s a Sunday school favorite, sung by Nathan and Lyle–Yield Not to Temptation. I wanted a hymn that wouldn’t make me cry; but this one did, after all.

‘To Be a Pilgrim’

Let’s try this one–John Bunyan’s hymn, To Be a Pilgrim, sung by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. It was written to give us courage. May it minister to us all

The raptors are out to get us, but we have to keep going.

Again, thank all of you for our prayers. And please add a prayer for reader “Wyldkat,” whose aged cat is struggling.

By Request, ‘Chosen’

Requested by SlimJim–Chosen, sung by Sidewalk Prophets.

I do wish this hymn could minister to me; I’m just about through. No more hope. God says No. Villains, thieves, liars, murderers–they party all the livelong day without restraint. Does He love them more than He loves us? Our harmless little loving cat, Peep, He won’t spare, He won’t heal.

I guess I can only ask you to pray for me and Patty. We’re the ones who need it now.

Snippets of Nooze

WORKPLACE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS: TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

I had a nice long talk on the phone today with my sister, Alice, in which we gave the nooze of the week a good and proper cussing. We were both the better for it.

But I don’t feel like doing much reporting today, so let me just mention two nooze items in passing. You can find them elsewhere (he said in a flash of wild optimism, momentarily forgetting media hypocrisy and Big Tech censorship).

*The Rochester, Michigan, public school administration has taken some heat–but not enough–for spying on parents’ social media activity and then running to complain to the parents’ employers. They succeeded in getting one mother fired from her job. Who do these crawling squid think they are?

*The “Stop WOKE Act” has passed the Florida Assembly and is expected soon to pass the Senate, too. The intent of the bill is to stop the use of the schools as Far Left indoctrination factories. Democrats are screaming bloody murder. They are convinced that they’re the only ones covered by the First Amendment.

And that’s all the nooze I can bring myself to cover today.

Please continue to pray for Peep, our cat.
