Fox to Cat: ‘Play With Me’

“The fox and the cat…” That rings a bell. Pinocchio–right? Only there don’t appear to be any animated puppets wandering around this neighborhood, so the fox and the cat might as well have some fun together.

$5 Million a Pop: San Francisco ‘Reparations’

“It’s only money! Just throw it away!”

Mathematical wizards have begun to question the soundless of San Francisco’s proposed payment of $5 million a head to “long-term black residents”… $5 million each as “reparations” for slavery which was abolished 158 years ago and never existed in California anyhow (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/02/28/report-no-math-behind-san-franciscos-5m-per-person-reparations-proposal/).

You don’t need to be any kind of wizard to see that this scheme, in addition to being a towering waste of money, is not only foolish, not only unjust, but downright evil. Making people pay penalties for acts performed by other people better than a century and a half ago–really?

And who has enough integrity not to trade it off for five million smackers? If it were being offered to you–in return for nothing at all!–would you say “no”?

It’s evil because it will corrupt people who might not have been corrupted otherwise.

Who knew that that was the role of government–to lead people into sloth and wickedness?

This is indeed a shameful epoch in our history. We’ll be lucky to survive it.

They’re Rewriting James Bond, Too

Rare picture of Sean Connery as James Bond. Promotional shoot for Goldfinger. | James bond movies, James bond style, James bond

If James Bond were real, there’d be some trouble over this.

Move over, Roald Dahl. Ian Fleming needs a seat on the bus to oblivion.

Willie Wonka, meet James Bond! By and by every fictional character in every novel will be rewritten… to accommodate a popular culture that goes from bad to worse by the day.

Yes, James Bond is being rewritten (https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/rewriting-ian-fleming-james-bond-books-what-is-the-point/). ‘Cause he’s “racist, sexist, imperialistic,” yatta-yatta. (Ask me if I care.) And the books he’s in might offend some chuckleheads out there.

They’re gonna remake the movies, too. Maybe what they’re looking for is a new James Bond who used to be a woman, eats nothing but plant-based foods, apologizes for the continued existence of Britain, and goes on and on about it until the very stones must weep for boredom. Well, they’re always remaking Bond movies. But rewriting the novels that the movies are based on–doing it when the author is dead and can’t defend himself–how much lower can it get?

I mean, come on–if you don’t like James Bond books, don’t read them. How is that so hard? Or would you rather sit up in bed all night because someone, somewhere, is reading James Bond and you can’t stop him? And your life as a liberal is incomplete because you can’t stop him.

How did we ever wind up letting these wretched people tell us what to do?

When You’ve Finally Finished the Job…

(No comments? None? Somebody please say something already!)

I feel like an archaeologist who’s been intently pecking away at the stone for who knows how long, he finally breaks through into the Lost Tomb… and there’s nothing there. Just an empty room.

I worked so hard to wrap up Ozias, Prince in Peril, which I did just a few days ago. The labor was intense.

And suddenly it’s done and suddenly I don’t have a book to write. It’s a very oogy feeling, almost impossible to describe. And I can’t just start the next one because, folks, it doesn’t work that way. It’d burn my brain out if I tried.

As for writing about the nooze… Well, if that doesn’t give you the blahs after a while, I don’t know what will. Is there a place for a superhero with an infinite tolerance for boredom?

Obviously I need a rest. If I could only remember how to do that…

By Request, ‘Rock of Ages’

Requested by Susan–and brace yourself, this is not the Rock of Ages that Christians have been singing since the 19th century. James Ward has a whole new melody for it.

‘When Is “Royal” Not Royal?’ (2020)

If Harry and Meghan (TM) knew their Shakespeare better, they might be a lot more careful. Remember George, Duke of Clarence: he had a pretty good claim to the throne, but he would keep shooting off his mouth: they wound up drowning him in a barrel of wine.

When Is ‘Royal’ Not Royal?

This pair of (ahem!) royal jidrools has had three more years in which to convince the British public that they absolutely positively do not need a royal family anymore. If Harry and Meghan (TM) can put you off royalty, no one can.

By Request, ‘Thanksgiving Prayer’

Requested by Elder Mike–Thanksgiving Prayer, by Johnny Cash. It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving for us to give thanksgiving, Mike points out. It’d be good for us all to keep that in mind.

Cats & Coons

(Couldn’t make up my mind which critter video to post, so I’ve posted both.)

Animals can surprise us with some of the unusual friendships they make. My iguana was a great one for that. Even so, I would hesitate to let my cat get involved with raccoons–which, after all, are wild animals with a very scanty record of domestication. They have powerful jaws which should be treated with respect.

Is There a Bunny in the House?

Take it from a lizard-and-turtle guy: rabbits do a lot of cat and doggy things that would never occur to a lizard. Much less a turtle.

I’ve never had a pet rabbits; but we used to have a lot of wild rabbits around here who got very friendly with us and were the best of company. The babies, too.

Not quite as safe as it looks, is it?

Good grief! New York City’s Upper East Side is full of teenagers whose parents won’t let them out on the street without adult supervision (https://www.curbed.com/2023/02/upper-east-side-parents-axiety-teens-crime-covid.html?utm_source=pocket-newtab). Some of these kids would actually get lost trying to go to school because they don’t know the way.

This is a very tony neighborhood–why the fear?

Some parents won’t let their teens ride the subway. Why? Because the crime rate in this Democrat-run city is through the roof, that’s why. I’m six feet tall and I know judo–and I’d be leery about taking a subway ride in NYC. But it’s not just the subway. Some of these kids are not allowed to go anywhere alone. Might never see them again.

New York’s got prosecutors who are so Far Left, they won’t prosecute even violent crimes. Police pick you up, and twenty minutes later you’re back out on the sidewalk, looking for another victim.

Is this any way to live? As if your life were a chapter in The Hunger Games? What kind of timorous adults will these kids grow up to be? That is, if they grow up at all. You’d think a 14-year-old wouldn’t have to be driven to school by Momma every day; but that’s life in the Big Apple.

Yeah, well, as long as a lifelong mugger’s Rights are respected, what else matters?
