California Governor Bans Thanksgiving

No full-family get-togethers. No uncles, aunts, or cousins. If you have a big family, some of your children have to stay away.

No dining indoors, and so what if it’s late November. No turkey on a platter: all food must be prepackaged in containers.

No singing allowed–unless you sing very softly, with the face mask over your mouth.

Welcome to Thanksgiving 2020 in California!

Gov. Gavin Noisome has thought up a whole passel of new “regulations” to load onto the people of his state (https://thefederalist.com/2020/10/20/california-just-declared-war-on-thanksgiving-with-kafka-level-regulations/)–“regulations” affecting just about everyone in California. Gee, they’ll need a lot of people ratting out their neighbors, to enforce them.

Who knew a mere governor had so much power? This reminds me of World War II movies set in occupied France, with the people suffering under an SS colonel who has absolute power over them. All our governors are missing is the firing squads.

But, see, COVID-19 is gonna kill you dead, wam, bam, on the spot, unless you obey each and every mandate your governor can think of. It’s gonna kill you personally. Not like Climbit Change, which kills everybody. This virus has a bullet with your name on it.

Except it’s OK to riot, the virus will let you do that. Naturally–it’s for Social Justice. Loot, burn, assault, and freak out all you like.

But don’t have the family over for Thanksgiving!

Well, that takes care of Thanksgiving in California. Next target, Christmas. If they can ban Christmas, they can ban anything.

There’s Something Wrong with Our Politics

Broken dome of an ancient square monument in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh Stock Photo - Alamy

There’s a lot I don’t understand about our current politics.

How does 1) a paper-thin majority in the House of Representatives, 2) a tie vote in the Senate, and 3) a president whose election was, to put it as charitably as possible, of doubtful legitimacy add up to a partisan government that does everything it damned well pleases without encountering any meaningful opposition?

Once upon a time, even if you were the majority party, you still had to dicker, compromise, give the opposition some of the things they wanted, You couldn’t just ignore them–as is being done now.

Another thing: the president is the chief executive. Among other things, his duty, as laid out in the Constitution, is to see that our country’s laws are enforced. Our immigration laws are statutes enacted by Congress and signed into law by various presidents. So how come China Joe gets to not only ignore those laws, but refuse to enforce them and encourage people to break them?

Is our system broken? Is that how we’ve wound up with these very strange politics? Did they repeal the Constitution when we weren’t looking?

Stolen elections have consequences, don’t they?

One of those consequences is that we completely lose control of our government.

It’s Not Really a ‘Ban’ on Flag-Burning

[I have forgotten how to add an illustration to a post. That’s sleep deprivation for you.]

Is President Donald Trump purposefully trying to drive leftids crazy?

Sure looks that way! He has been accused of imposing a “ban” on (oh, for heaven’s sake) “flag desecration.”

Before you go flying off the handle, the supposed “speech restriction” is only to be applied to acts that are already illegal and which are likely to pose a threat to life and property (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/09/trump-ends-flag-burning-liberals-explode/). They don’t just burst into your living room and haul you off to jail because you’ve got a Stars & Stripes pillow case.

Although there may be some as who deserves it.

‘Whose Side Are They On?’

Come Christmas, 2030… will there still be an England?

“Hey! How’s about we put up illegal aliens in luxury hotels and let our military veterans sleep on the street?”

“Waddaya mean, a British government can’t tell American citizens what they can say and do? Did we win the Revolutionary War or not?”

Our own President Donald Trump is not amused by “Labour’s assault on free speech,” among other things. He went so far, a few days ago, to ban British Prime Minister Keir Starmer from an important international strategy meeting. Practically slammed the door in his face.

Maybe Starmer and his Far Left playmates will get blown away in the next election and no one sill have to hear them anymore. Maybe Britain will come to her senses.

But I wouldn’t bet on it.

Coming Soon, to a Campus Near You… Democrat Civil War?

A gallery of gavones. Coast-to coast fiddle-faddle. An encyclopedia of twitsters.

Why do we wind up despising Democrat politicians? I mean, really, are they quite that bad? Quite that insufferable? “‘Fraid so, kid.”

But–! Looks like it’s beginning to dawn on them that they can’t expect to win people over by spitting on their shoes. But (again!)–they think they CAN! Just fine-tune the language and bob’s your uncle. They’ve got a list of some 40-plus buzzwords that they say they have to stop using.

Just one thing I’d like to know:

How do we make them go away?

British Government Falls!

Photos: Thousands march in London in 'Britain is broken ...

They weren’t getting ready for a slumber party, were they?

The British Supreme Court has ordered Prime Minister Keit Starmer to step down (“Don’t let the door hit you on the bum on your way out”) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smmmy4jY_bw&t=205s). They’re calling it the biggest government scandal since the 10th century.

No, Starmer wasn’t kicked out for allowing a Muslim invasion of his country, nothing like that. He is just charged with dipping his fingers into the public purse. (Thanks and a hat tip to They’ll Do It Every Time by Jimmy Hatlo.) Heck, what’s 124 thousand pounds?

No one knows what will happen next. A poll shows 72% of the public thinks Starmer should resign, toot-sweet.

Others are investigating whether Starmer took foreign money in return for favors granted. Tut-tut.

This is shaping up to be a serious bummer for the United Kingdom. But then again, maybe now. Maybe it’s not to late to save their country.

‘Bringing in the Sheaves’

[Hang onto your hats, everybody! The British government has fallen; the Supreme Court hss ordered Prime Minister Keir to step down.]

Here are some sheaves that needed bringing in! And we can celebrate it with a well-known hymn–Bringing in the Sheaves, brought to you by the Islington Baptist Church.(I got so excited by the British nooze, I forgot I was posting a hymn.)

Is it too late, after all, to save Britain? We don’t know. But we do know it’s in God’s hands.

‘Elderly Nuns’ Stick Up for Pagan Shrine

175 Angry Nun Stock Photos, High-Res Pictures, and Images ...

My Aunt Better was a nun. I’m glad she didn’t see this.

*Sigh* Nine elderly nuns in lawn chairs (so goes the report from Crisis Magazine) are, um, “defending” a mountain said to be sacred to pagans (https://crisismagazine.com/opinion/when-catholic-nuns-defend-a-tribal-mountain-sacred-to-pagans-something-is-wrong). It also contains the largest copper deposit in North America–hence the mining.

It’s all happening in Arizona. [Excuse me for a moment. ??? : there’ that’s better].The three-day protest was staged last month.

Well, that’s “Progressive Catholicism” for you. It doesn’t seem to have much in common with regular Catholicism. I wonder how “elderly” the protesting nuns are–and what other protests and babblings they’ve produced over the years.

I don’t think we’ll have to wait long to see what the new Pope is made of.

DOE to Schools: Obey the Law or Lose Your Funding

The U.S. Dept. of Education has put five Virginia school districts on “high alert status”–because the schools have disobeyed a federal order to keep girls out of boys’ bathrooms and boys out of girls’ (https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-education-places-five-northern-virginia-school-districts-high-risk-status-and-reimbursement-payment-status-violating-title-ix).

So it looks like these districts may have had federal funds coming to them, but they won’t get that money for as long as they keep “gender identity” bathrooms–or, to follow them into euphemism, “intimate facilities.”

The districts in question are Alexandria City, Arlington, Fairfax County, Loudon County, and Prince William County.

MEANWHILE… Several teachers in the San Francisco school district “are not getting paid.” The money seems to be running out. Uh-oh.

“We will require them to cover their own expenses” –Linda McMahon, U.S. Secretary of Education.

‘Parental Responsibility’ for Under-18 Lawbreakers

Photos: Protests continue for third day in Los Angeles : The ...Break out the tear  gas, boys

As a newspaper reporter way back in the 1970s, one or two of the towns I used to cover came up with “parental responsibility laws,” making parents criminally liable for offenses committed by their children. Did that produce some wild politics!

As I recall it, none of these acts made it into the legal code: too much opposition. But that was then, and now is now. That which failed back then is now succeeding.

Gloucester Township has passed a Parental Responsibility Act. No one has yet been arrested and charged for children’s misdeeds. But it’s early days–plenty of time to drum up bitter courtroom battles.

What goes around comes around.

The press for a parental responsibility law picked up momentum last year, in the wake of a… let’s call it a youth riot… that ruined a municipal celebration that this year couldn’t be held. Whether it’ll ever be held again remains to be seen.
