‘Some Quick Thoughts on the Authority of Christ’ (Christian Bloggers)

cross

Here’s a short but filling theological lunch prepared by our friend SlimJim, of the Domain for Truth blog.

Quick Thoughts on the authority of Christ in book of Matthew

What, exactly, is Christ’s authority? Who gave it to Him? How does He exercise it? And how are we to respond to it? It’s amazing how many clear answers to those questions can be found in just the Book of Matthew.

I try to promote the work of my fellow Christian bloggers. Big Tech tries to keep us down, so we need to help each other. If you have a Christian blog and would like me to display some of your work here, please let me know.

From ‘Kristi Ann’s Haven’ (Christian Bloggers)

Mark 14:36 KJV Hallelujah ABBA FATHER and more Blessings!!

There’s a lot of treasure here; but the leading lesson is a simple one: “Abba” means “Father.” We are God’s children: created by Him, adopted with His only begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. The lesson is repeated throughout the New Testament (for instance, Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15).

See the blog, “Kristi Ann’s Haven,” for this… and much more.

Note: I try to showcase the work of other Christian bloggers. Big Tech wants to stifle us: we need to help each other.

‘Ridiculous Laughter’ (godinterest blog)

Holy Laughter

Sarah thought it pretty ridiculous when God’s angel said she would have a child. She was years past child-bearing age.

Ridiculous Laughter

Well, we all know how that turned out, don’t we? “Has God ever surprised you with the ridiculous?” asks pastor Ray Patrick.

I try to make it a habit to showcase the work of other Christian bloggers. If you’d like some of your work to appear here, please let me know. Big Tech wants to shut us down, so we have to help each other.

‘Healing the Damage Caused by Bad Theology’ (Martin Selbrede)

Martin Selbrede | heroinamerica

“We’re only passing through… The world is not my home… Christ’s Kingdom is not of this world…”

We’ve all heard the excuses: the bad theology that justifies Christian inaction, impotence, and irrelevance. We know all the cliches. Polishing the brass on the sinking ship, etc. City of God vs. City of Man. The result is a “retreatist theology” and a Christian, most likely a Protestant, “constantly ready to flee.”

Martin Selbrede finds a corrective in the work of Cornelius van der Waal, who died in 1980. In The World, Our Home, van der Waal analyzed all the bad theology–“surrender theology”–that has seeped into Christian churches since the Reformation.

https://chalcedon.edu/magazine/healing-the-damage-caused-by-bad-theology

We are not called to hand the whole shooting match over to the devil and his servants! We are called to fulfill the Great Commission, to win ground for Christ’s Kingdom–we are called not to mourn, not to cower in the pews, but to work.

Over and over against we are called upon to straighten out the bad theology and put our churches back on course. Our home is the world: that’s why God put us there. The earth is the LORD’s. And we are His servants and His stewards.

Why that should be so hard to remember… well, I don’t know.

‘Joy to the World Because Our King Reigns’

Joy to the World inspired this wonderful essay by Mark Rushdoony.

https://chalcedon.edu/blog/joy-to-the-world-because-our-king-reigns

Yes, as Mark points out, our world is in a heap of trouble just now. Our culture is polluted with a deep spiritual pollution. Our “leaders” push self-destructive, even suicidal, policies. Rebelling against God, they are in rebellion against reality itself. That’s what “transgender” is all about.

But the Christmas hymn presents the truth in all its power: Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords, reigning both in heaven and on the earth; and He has already lifted the curse. Evil will play itself out.

Thank you, Mark, for reminding us.

Credential-Crazy! (Christian Blogger)

444 Apostle Paul Stock Photos, Pictures & Royalty-Free Images - iStock

Paul never went to seminary.

If you think formal credentials are all they’re cracked up to be, you haven’t been paying attention! Our leaders, here and elsewhere, have credentials out the wazoo–and look at the mess they’ve made of things. Who could do worse?

St. Paul did not need a paper from a seminary to preach and teach.

2 Corinthians 3:1 | Credentialism is Killing the Church

This essay in the humaneffort blog lays it on the line. “Credentialism” is killing the Church! Not that God will allow the whole Church to fail; but rather large chunks of it might be washed away if we don’t watch out.

I continue to display work by other Christian bloggers. I’m convinced that Big Tech suppresses our viewership, and that therefor we ought to help each other.

Iran Nuclear Site: Ka-Boom!

How to Stay Safe After a Nuclear Explosion or Disaster, What to Avoid

Iran’s uranium enrichment site at Natanz this weekend seems to have exploded (https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/15339095/posts/3699476840).

Iran claims the explosion was a controlled military exercise, practicing their air defense skills. Honk if you believe that.

Communications with the area around Natanz have been cut off.

The Natanz facility has suffered fires and explosions in the recent past (https://www.timesofisrael.com/blast-reported-in-vicinity-of-nuclear-site-in-natanz-iran/). Sometimes they blame it on Israel. Other times, they make like nothing happened.

“Oh!” you say. “But why haven’t I heard this news reported on CNN?”

Do you really have to ask? If so, you need to get out more.

Natanz is a key facility in Iran’s campaign to acquire nuclear weapons. If someone did blow it up on purpose, whoever it was deserves the world’s thanks.

Maybe it’ll slow them down long enough for our country to get Iran-abetting Democrats out of office.

Is Daniel for Real? (Christian Blogger)

Daniel In The Lions Den Paintings | Fine Art America

Today we have S.J. Thomas defending the legitimacy of the Book of Daniel on her blog, christianapologist.com .

Daniel in the Liberal Revisionists’ Lions’ Den: When, Where, and Who Wrote the Book of Daniel?

Bible-bashing liberals have been trying to tear down Daniel for centuries. As R.J. Rushdoony observed, they are deeply “offended” by the accurate details of Daniel’s prophecy and have spent 1,800 years trying to prove it’s a hoax.

Too bad the Dead Sea scrolls support the age and the authenticity of Daniel. Josephus, too.

But if we are Christians, or Jews, we trust Daniel because if the book weren’t true, it wouldn’t be included in the Bible. And if we read our history, we can see how Daniel’s prophecies came true.

What Would You Have?

How to Make a Fancy Menu Template

This year, for the first time since its inception in 2012, this blog will show decreased readership. Even with a strong finish, we’ll finish below both 2020 and 2019. I blame it on Big Tech playing with the search engines to suppress traffic to Christian blogs. Heck, I blame some of it on the bossa nova.

Now I’m not going to take a poll, scientific or otherwise, but I do want to know what you, the readers, think. Are there features, or certain kinds of posts, that you would like to see more of? Less of? Would you like more or less of the following–

News   Politics   Education News   Bible Study   Posts by Other Christian Bloggers   Animal Videos   Satire    Humorous Pieces    Hymns    Memory Lane  Book Updates (progress reports)   Nature

Please feel free to make your own suggestions. At the end of the year I should probably have to re-evaluate this enterprise, maybe make some changes. Just don’t expect me to bring in rap music videos or CNN clips.

I still believe a lot of us Christian bloggers got ill-used this year by Big Tech. Rather than out-and-out ban us–which they’d have trouble justifying, if Congress ever called them on the carpet for it–they find it just as useful to shove us to the bottom of the search process. If that truly is the case, then no changes we can make will do us any good.

Shout-out to Christian bloggers! We can help each other by posting one another’s posts (pardon the awkward but clear language). If you’d like me to display some of your posts, please let me know!

R.J. Rushdoony, ‘Religious Liberty’

Amazon.com: R. J. Rushdoony: Books, Biography, Blog, Audiobooks, Kindle

(This important essay on the roots of religious liberty, by R.J. Rushdoony, first appeared in 1991 in Roots of Reconstruction.)

This piece is a little long, but well worth reading and considering. It traces the origin of American religious liberty to Martin Luther and the Reformation: when Elector Frederick the Wise of Saxony, a staunch Catholic, extended his projection to Martin Luther, Protestant religious reformer–and Luther extended his protection to Frederick. Between them they declared the Biblical basis for religious liberty.

https://chalcedon.edu/magazine/religious-liberty

Liberty is so much more than “freedom to sin”! For Rushdoony it was a theological fact. And so it ought to be for us.

As our country’s founders so well knew, government naturally seeks at all times to extend its power–which God’s law limits. Rushdoony wrote at a time when many different government agencies were forcefully encroaching on religious liberty.

And that has not changed.

A firm Biblical understanding of and belief in religious liberty is the best protection of religious liberty. As Luther himself said, “He that believes most will protect most.”

And our freedom needs protection.
