Speaking of Artificial People…

May be an image of text

Martin Selbrede (my mentor) posted this cartoon on Facebook. It makes the point that too many people don’t get: “Artificial intelligence is not ‘intelligence’ at all!” It’s just a simulation.

Sort of like thinking hand puppets are alive because they “talk.”

‘Symbol of Hope and Sanity’ (2017)

Cathedrawl of the Epiphany, Irkutsk (sorry, the video doesn’t work)

I’ll never forget the morning my wife rushed into the bedroom with news she’d just heard on the radio: “The Soviet Union is gone! It doesn’t exist anymore!”

Symbol of Hope and Sanity

The USSR. “Your grandchildren will live under communism!” Cold War. Khrushchev pounding his shoe.

And then one day it went away.

God is not mocked. Not by the Soviet Union or anybody else.

‘They’re Not Just Idiots…’ (2016)

177 Boarded Up Church Stock Photos, High-Res Pictures, and ...

Boarded shut and empty: that’s how they like our churches.

It looks stupid, it sounds stupid–but there’s method in the madness.  They think that they can simply wear us out.

They’re Not Just Idiots…

Incessant, vigorous complaining, never pass up a fight–and presto, you’ve got atheists bellyaching about a Christian website set up by Christians so they can post Christian hymns. What else do they expect on a Christian website?

“Yeahbut, yeahbut! Separation of church and state!”

The correct response is “Aw, shut up!”

Mark Rushdoony: ‘History Is Never About Us’

Mark At Desk 2020 02 04 03 55 48 UTC 1

Mark Rushdoony

Are we the stars of a movie called “history”? Has it all led up to… us?

Mark Rushdoony asks a penetrating question: “What if the end of history is not soon approaching?”

https://chalcedon.edu/blog/history-is-never-about-us

How many people wind up thinking, “Our time is the end times–it’s all led up to now“? People have been believing that for 2,000 years.

We are where God has put us, and He is the only one who knows the number of the page in which we appear. Each of us is here for a reason. We may not know what it is, but we can be sure God knows.

History may not be about us; but like it or not, each of us is part of it.

There’ll be so much to learn when we finally get to Heaven!

Martin Selbrede: ‘Architects of Disorder’

Martin Selbrede | heroinamerica

Martin Selbrede

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?  —Psalm 94:20

Martin Selbrede has provided us with an in-depth examination of Psalm 94–a psalm that deals head-on with corruption in the government.

https://chalcedon.edu/resources/articles/architects-of-disorder-framing-mischief-by-statute

Put simply, corrupt governments enact corrupt laws. Their “justice” plays out as injustice. And the psalmist is not looking for justice somewhere in the end times, but rather, says Martin, “is looking for action in the here and now” (emphasis added).

That would be God’s action. Not “someday,” but now. And not “revenge,” which is an activity of fallen man, but “vengeance”–which is God’s prerogative.

Martin explores the Psalm verse by verse from beginning to end–a major project, but well worth reading. What could be more relevant to the state of our world today than sinful, power-hungry government that seeks to replace God’s laws with its own self-serving decrees? Are you listening, World Economic Forum? (Hint: of course not.)

If only we could unite judgment to justice!

Invest half an hour or so in reading Martin’s essay. You’ll find it’s right on target.

I’m Back (I Hope)

Well, ain’t that swell? Now it won’t let me post any pictures.

Our computer conked out this morning, and we spent well over an hour trying to get someone to come and put it to rights. That’s supposed to happen tomorrow. Meanwhile, late this afternoon, it decided to start working again. Sort of.

I’ll try images and videos after supper. Maybe that’ll work by then.

To all of you who visited this blog anyway, regardless of our trouble–thank you, and a big hug!

(Nope–still no picture.)

‘Memory Lane’ Contest, Day 4

Science fiction magazine - Wikiwand

We weren’t quite up to this level… but it did inspire us.

Gee whiz, no entries yet today! No shared memories. So let me share one of my own, here, and see if it gives you any ideas. Please remember, this contest is open to everyone. First-timers welcome!

Back in high school, in the 1960s, some of us got together and published our own science fiction magazine, The Diomegan.

Memory Lane: Our Own Science Fiction Magazine

Two or three of our staff were , in my opinion, geniuses. One built his own computer–in 1966! Another cleaned up on both College Bowl and It’s Academic. I would love to get in touch with them again. I’ll bet they wound up millionaires.

It was all original material, even the art work, with short stories, articles on science and technology, and a serialized novel by yours truly. We went to science fiction conventions in New York, and met Arthur C. Clarke–wow! Very heady stuff for a bunch of Jersey teens.

William, Jeff, and Marian–how are you guys? I’m missing you today.

And now let’s have some readers’ memories.

‘Memory Lane’ Contest (Oh, Boy!)

The Wind from Heaven (Bell Mountain, 13) - Kindle edition by ...

The last few weeks around here have been just awful, and they certainly won’t get better if I try to do nooze on Sunday. Now would seem a good time for a “Memory Lane” post… and then, an even better idea.

You are all invited to submit your own “Memory Lane” suggestions, in the form of comments on existing posts. The winner will get an autographed book (your choice), and I’ll expand his or her suggestion into a full-length post–with full credit given.

Come on–you must have a lot of cool memories that I’ve never touched on. It doesn’t seem like a lot to do, to earn an autographed book. (Caveat: I only autograph books written by me.) And anyhow, memories are fine things to share. I can’t wait to read some of yours.

All memories are eligible, although I admit to a prejudice for those involving our popular culture. What kind of cock-a-mamie thing do you remember, that I forgot?

‘It’s Been a Hard Week’ (My Newswithviews Column, June 20)

Robbie’s picture, one more time

I feel like I fell down the stairs.

The worst of it was losing our cat, Robbie. Eighteen years, we had her.

It’s Been a Hard Week

Some people don’t understand about pets; but a lot of people do. Meanwhile, I had to continue my work of monitoring the slow murder of my country by evil, loony, stupid, and perverted individuals… And on top of that, Willie Mays died the other day: the man I wanted to be when I grew up. Boyhood hero. I can’t remember a time in my life when he wasn’t my hero.

But the show must go on. Or so I’ve heard.

‘Today’s Revolutionaries’ (Mark Rushdoony)

Mark Rushdoony's 2023 Year-End Letter

As I was wondering why there’s so much weird and creepy nooze out there, these days, I visited the Chalcedon website and encountered this essay by Mark Rushdoony:

https://chalcedon.edu/resources/articles/todays-revolutionaries

It’s because so many of our (ahem!) intellectual leaders have fully embraced Evolution, in all its Darwinian glory, as Nature’s Way. The world is constantly changing: therefor we and our institutions must also change, sometimes frantically, just to keep up. Because constant change is necessary for survival in a changing world. “What you and I see as destructive,” Mark writes, “they see as progressive.”

And presto–our civilization turns into a drunkards’ fire drill.

The only good news is that Christianity is the fastest-growing religion in the world today: Christ’s Kingdom being built one brick at a time, and always building.

There are an awful lot of people out there who want to Change The World, usually in ways that leave them luxuriously ensconced in seats of power while the rest of us try to live with the consequences of their socio-political experiments.

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak to them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.” –Psalm 2: 4-5
