Don’tcha love the way the “pro-choice” party’s always taking away our choices?

Who Needs Atonement? (NWV Column)

Almost forgot to do this, I’m rushing so hard to get ready to go to the vet. Anyhow, here it is for this week…

My News with Views Column (Aug. 10,’17)

Folks, I hope you enjoy these columns, because they’re coming out of my hide and, even if I use posts on this blog to help me along, each week I wonder how much longer I can keep on writing these. Anyhow, here it is: Happy Barack Obama Day.

https://newswithviews.com/happy-barack-obama-day/

Don’t worry, I’m okay. It’s just that there’s only so much writing anyone can do, and I’m trying very hard to get my book finished before it gets too cold to work outside anymore.

Comment Contest: Less than 100 to Go

Well, we’ve just passed the 12,000 mark, and whoever posts Comment No. 13,000 on this blog will win an autographed copy of one of my books.

I’m thinking of re-opening the contest to earlier winners, so they can win again. If this is not a stupid question, are you in favor of that?

Maybe I should also offer a prize to anyone who can figure out what happened to my Facebook and Newswithviews referrals–a mystery that has so far baffled all attempts to unravel it. Where’s Hercule Poirot when you need him?

Good News, Bad News

My neighbor, Harlem, for whose recovery from cancer many of us prayed, tells me his experience had been written up in one of the medical journals. He’s feeling stronger by the day, putting back on some of the weight he lost, and wants to play some hoops when the weather gets a little warmer. I gave him a copy of The Cellar Beneath the Cellar to celebrate. Now we’ve got to find a basketball.

Meanwhile, this blog is giving me fits today.

Thursday’s usually my best day because that’s when my Newswithviews column is published, and it generates a lot of referrals to the blog. But not today. Not even one. Everything seems to be in working order, so I’m at a loss to understand the problem.

Ditto Facebook. As an experiment, my friend Susan generated two referrals this morning. They worked–which leaves me unable to explain why there are only those two and no more. The more I try to understand how social media work, the less I understand about the whole business.

And they say they want to merge our minds with computers??? That just may be the stupidest idea ever conceived by smart people.

I Didn’t Write the Blasted Headline!

I’ve gotten into some hot water for my News With Views column this week. Of course I have, because the headline reads “Donald Trump–The Only One Who Can Save America.”

I did not write that headline.

God is the only one who can save America. I know that! I’ve often said so, and in print, for everyone to see.

I’m trying to get that headline changed, but it may be too late. But at least I want everyone who reads this to know that I didn’t write it and I don’t agree with what it says.

I don’t mind if they change the headline I wrote for something with a bit more zing. But I do mind if the new headline gives people a false impression of me.

So if anyone happens to refer to me as “that palooka who wrote that dumb headline about Trump the only one to save America,” please–I didn’t write the b lasted thing, and it does not reflect my opinion in the matter.

So Now I’m ‘Dangerous’?

A Newswithviews.com reader has just informed me that my NWV column this week, on “College–the Brain Masher,” has been tagged by Google with an “ALL RED Dangerous Web Page Warning.” ( http://newswithviews.com/Duigon/lee367.htm )  I don’t see that when I go to the NWV page, so I’d be interested to know whether any of you have seen it. But certainly I have no reason not to believe the reader.

So… I said America’s university system needs to be shrunk, not expanded, and that our colleges indoctrinate their students with left-wing piffle and addle their brains–and that’s supposed to be dangerous? Hey, I went to college and it threw me off the track for more than thirty years: and it wasn’t anywhere near as awful, back then.

It seems I have become a menace to society. I guess Joe Collidge is right about me. I suppose I ought to be proud of having earned this distinction; but, in fact, it doesn’t give me all that nice a feeling. All I’m doing is calling it like I see it. That’s dangerous?

Oh, well, at least I’m in good company.

No, Google, it’s not this unimportant blogger who’s dangerous. It’s our college system that is dangerous. But I suppose you’ll want to live in the world these confused young people make, when it’s their turn to take over from the grownups: very probably because you and your cohorts expect to rule that world.

I would rather not see that happen.

My Day (Oh, Well…)

Image result for images of man walking on very hot day

As part of my efforts to get enough exercise to keep me out of the hospital, I walked to the Y this morning–about three miles round trip, not counting a couple of rather steep hills. I tried to get underway before it was too hot, but I was still pretty well broiled by the time I got there. So I had a nice long shower and then walked back home, via Tommy’s Pond. Covered with sweat by the time I got here, but at least it was new sweat.

But suddenly it’s 4:30, almost suppertime. How did that happen? I smoked a cigar, worked on The Silver Trumpet (Lord Chutt is painting himself into a very bad corner), and then we had to run out and buy groceries. And now it’s 4:30. *Sigh*

This morning I was distressed to discover that my Newswithviews article today included no link to my blog. That was soon fixed, but it cost me probably 50 views.

The way it works, or is supposed to work, NWV leads readers to my blog, and the blog leads readers to my books. If only. It’s a hard job to come up with a NWV column every week, trust me on that. I’d at least like a better chance to sell some books.

Why am I going on like this? I dunno–probably I cooked my brain by walking in this heat.

See you all later.

My News With Views Column is Up Today

Several of you have already let me know you saw the column today, although some are still having problems with what NWV insists is an unfair and erroneous Malware warning that blocks the reader from its page. I’ve run into that again today, trying to click on NWV from my own stats page–but it works okay if I try to go there from the Bing search page.

Anyhow, “The Spirit of Lawlessness” has been published today, and you can read it at http://www.newswithviews.com/Duigon/lee352.htm/ . I already expect this link not to work, but I’ll have to put up this post before I can find out.

I’ll be very pleasantly surprised if the link works for you. If it doesn’t, and you want to read the column, try accessing the NWV site from your search page.

P.S.–*sigh* Nope, the link doesn’t work. You just wind up with the “Potential Attack Page” warning.

If someone is doing this to Newswithviews on purpose, I’m pretty sure it’s against the law and very likely a felony.

My Missing NWV Column Has Been Found

Okay, it was an email failure: Newswithviews never got my column this week, nor did they get my email asking what happened.

They have the column now and it’ll be published either tonight, tomorrow, or Sunday at the latest.

Oh, well… I’ve already written next week’s column, and you saw it first right here.
