Are We Really Deserting Christ? REPRINT

Linda sent me a dcclothesline article today with the alarming headline, “More Americans Than Ever Are Leaving Christianity” ( http://www.dcclothesline.com/2016/08/28/more-americans-than-ever-are-leaving-christianity/ ).

One sentence, regarding the findings of a recent Pew Poll, jumped out at me: “[The] biggest cultural shift has been among young people.”

That made me remember a 2008 study by Professor Rodney Stark, director of the Institute of Studies of Religion at Baylor University. Dr. Stark, whom I interviewed at the time, said that throughout American history, it has never been unusual for young Christians to leave the church, only to return when they’re a good deal older. So I think we ought to take that into consideration.

But there are other factors.

Chiefly, our public schools, our colleges, and our popular culture labor night and day, every day, to pry young people away from Christianity. We shouldn’t be surprised that this much indoctrination really works. And Christians should not be sending their children to those schools and colleges.

Also, America’s mainline/flatline Protestant churches have virtually ceased to be churches. Instead of God’s word, they devote themselves to fund-raising, entertainment, story-telling, and all kinds of interfaith frolics–as abundantly chronicled in this blog, throughout the year. Is it any wonder they’re losing their grip?

America needs to be re-Christianized: no two ways about it. This is a job that can’t be done by all too many of our churches, and which will be strenuously resisted by our beloved educators.

Of course, to be unaffiliated with a church does not mean a person has ceased to be a Christian. If Jesus has left the building, so should you.

In my Bell Mountain books, First Prester Orth has a vision for the Temple: that instead of a building, a hierarchy, etc., it ought to consist of God’s people nourished on God’s word, with its walls the four corners of the earth and its roof the very heavens: a church not made with human hands, which human hands cannot destroy.

I believe we can be sure that Jesus Christ Our Lord, the King of Kings, will not let His Church go extinct.

But He may very well decide to change it.

I am so not ready to go back to writing about the Chinese Communist Wuhan Death Virus, riots, soulless white liberals, and all that other schiff that everybody else is writing about. I am so not up for it, it isn’t funny.

That’s not like me. Usually on Monday I’m ready to wade back into the hurly-burly. So why am I thinking that today I’d like to work on my new book and put up a few blog posts that have nothing to do with Far Left Crazy trying to murder our country? I mean, we have to fight them, and we have to win.

But is God telling me, “I will fight them, boy. You go write your book”?

Yeahbut, yeahbut–Lord, what about my Newswithviews column?

“You don’t even know what you want to write for that. If I told you to sit down and write it today, you’d be stuck. So don’t worry about it.”

Tomorrow, then. I’ll get back into the melee tomorrow. I guess.

What is the difference between Christianity and humanism? It’s easily explained.

Humanists believe in the perfectibility of man by man; and we, as Christians, don’t.

Plato, Rousseau, the modern Left–they all think that if we only get the right science behind it, spend enough money, and apply the requisite measure of brute force, we can solve any human problem. All we need is another law, another set of new regulations, another bureaucracy to put it into play, round up all the dissidents, and bob’s your uncle: Utopia is achieved.

We believe in an ongoing process of individual sanctification, accomplished by God’s grace and by faith in Jesus Christ. We may not reach perfection, but we can get better than we were. As for Utopia, that doesn’t come until Jesus returns and establishes His kingdom on the earth. We do not believe that human nature is just a more complicated form of Play-Doh, to be shaped as desired by anyone clever enough, strong enough, rich enough, or ruthless enough to do it.

But their belief in their own godlike powers, their own wisdom, pretty much explains the whole history of that horrible 20th century. Always breaking eggs to make the perfect omelet, but never getting there no matter how many they break.

See? I told you it was easy.

Ben Shapiro thinks he has discovered “the single most illiterate piece ever written on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve,” (https://www.dailywire.com/news/26947/female-rabbi-publishes-single-stupidest-piece-ben-shapiro) and we must admit it would be hard to beat. “Its central thesis is that God somehow sexually harassed Eve, and that Eve is ‘the first case of #MeToo’.”

Quick, the barf bag!

How could there be any “too” when she was the first and only woman in the world?

This pure crapola has been written by some “female rabbi” who is soon to have a book out on “Walking the Way of the Divine Feminine.” As Shapiro himself admits, “Words fail.”

It’s hard enough to imagine this person as any kind of rabbi, but equally hard to imagine her congregation. She calls God “this man-made figurehead of the patriarchy  [editor’s note: Oh, do please shut up!]…He is a fiction.” Really, what kind of congregation would sit through bilge like that? Had they nothing to throw at her?

She concludes, “Eve, our blessed mother, is saying ‘#MeToo’,” hashtag and all. With the hashtag, no less. Do any of you wonder why I say “#MeToo” is going to burn itself out?

Ben, Ben, faithful Orthodox Jewish brother, we feel your pain. We Christians are lumbered with the same profoundly grotesque feminist theology as are some hopefully small corners of Judaism. See my series of articles about paganism and goddess worship in the churches.

Blasphemy is a sin, and a serious sin at that. Being conformed to the inane and fleeting fashions of this world comes at a price: and there’s gonna be some howling and gnashing of teeth when it’s time to pay.

When R.J. Rushdoony wrote this essay, thirty years ago or so, the Western intellectual mind (pardon the oxymoron) had not yet degenerated to “your truth, my truth, no truth.” But as he so often did, he saw exactly where it was heading and could tell you exactly where it came from.

Dear Comrade: I do love the way our plan for moral chaos is working out! Removing God from the equation, then removing truth–brilliant!

Once we’ve got them all shooting each other, betraying each other, every word a lie, court system completely overburdened, delivery systems breaking down because nobody knows how to do a job anymore, or wants to, every single one of them practically suicidal because they can’t get their own way every time–well, like the Boss explained to us, that’s when we make our move.

That’s when the government will have to get really, really authoritarian, just to keep the whole damned place from melting down. They’ll be begging for a “strong” government to keep order!

And then it’s payday, man! A hyper-authoritarian government, totally empowered to do anything it wants–and us in charge of it! Wow! We can lock people up! We can do anything we want, to anybody. Like, if they say the wrong thing, or read the wrong books, or even for no reason at all, just because we feel like tossing someone into prison!

Dig the humor, bro: every little tiny group of idiots, all thinking themselves The Smartest People in the World, all as sure as they can be that they’re gonna be the ones running the show–can you wait to see the look on their face, when we lock them up, too?

Christian ‘intellectuals’ turn against the Bible

St. Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome, “[L]et God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4). In other words, folks, who are you going to believe—God, or a human being infected with Original Sin, possessing incomplete and only partly accurate information filtered through his personal prejudices, and subject to every temptation in the world?

Thanks to a heads-up from General T.C. Pinckney’s Baptist Banner, we have heard of a number of “Christian intellectuals”—why is it that every time you hear the word “intellectual,” you know the next thing you’re going to hear will be something really stupid?—who have decided that “science”—another badly abused word—is right, and Evolution is the truth, and that the Bible is hopelessly, totally wrong about the origin of the human race.

As Calvin College theology professor John Schneider put it, before the college sacked him, there never was an Adam, no Eve, no Garden of Eden, no serpent, and no Fall of man. “Evolution,” he told National Public Radio, invoking the magic word, “makes it pretty clear that in nature, and in the moral experience of human beings, there never was any such paradise to be lost.”

Don’t let the door hit you in the can on your way out, professor.

There are, of course, just a few little bitty things that Evolution does not make clear at all.

*How does non-living material suddenly start living in the first place? This has never been observed in nature, and although scientists have tried innumerable times to make it happen in the laboratory, all of those attempts have failed.

*If evolution is a force or a pattern permeating all of nature, why do so many forms of life—most of them, if you count bacteria—never seem to evolve at all? Horseshoe crabs, ferns, cockroaches, etc., have all had, supposedly, jillions of years to evolve into intellectuals, and yet stubbornly persist in being horseshoe crabs, ferns, and cockroaches. (And please, no nasty cracks about intellectuals evolving into cockroaches…)

*As, say, an animal’s forelimb gradually “evolves” into a flipper, at what point does it become useless as either a foreleg or a flipper? Wouldn’t such “halfway-there” animals be gravely handicapped? And if the change happens all at once, how does the mother animal with legs raise a bunch of baby animals with flippers? And where do they find mates so they can reproduce? Really, the whole thing is just too silly for words.
