I remember being scared of Cardinal Richelieu in Three Musketeers movies. He had all this power and he only moved in the shadows, pulling strings from a distance, condemning persons to death who never heard of him and had no idea what they’d done wrong.

Sort of an early avatar of our own Deep State.

‘I Wanna Be in the Deep State When I Grow Up!’

Sometimes in a fallen world the state, authorized by God to protect its people from those who would harm them, has to resort to secrecy to carry out its mission. I don’t know how this moral distinction puzzles them: It’s okay to spy on the Chicoms. It’s not okay to spy on Americans at school board meetings.

Do we need a state to protect us from the state?

Here he is, Merrick Garland–front man for the Deep State! We have no idea how many goons and snitches he has on his payroll.

(I’m thinking of expanding this into a Newswithviews piece, but first I’ve got to jot it down while it’s still fresh in my mind.)

What would you think of a child who said, “I want to be in the Deep State when I grow up!”

Uh… why?

“Because then you can do anything you want to anybody and never get in trouble for it! You don’t even have to think about telling the truth–ever! Even the freakin’ president can’t touch you! If he rocks the boat too much, just get rid of him… like they did to Trump.

“If you’re in the Deep State, even if you get caught doing something really bad, you don’t go to jail or nothin’! You just, heh-heh, ‘resign’–and then you hit the cable news shows and make piles of money.”

Sinners don’t need much encouragement to sin, but jeepers creepers! Fixing elections, taking down the president, spying on parents who are cheesed off at their school boards–I’d be mortified if any child of mine wanted to do stuff like that for a living.

In advance of Democrats in Congress proposing legislation to have all the nation’s local police forces micromanaged by the federal government, IBM has announced it’s dropping its research and development of facial recognition technology (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ibm-quits-facial-recognition-racial-profiling-concerns-1297675).

Why? Because being able to tell one face from another equals “racial profiling,” with “racial and gender disparities” and “human rights violations,” blah-blah-blah.

The fact that other companies are out-competing IBM in this field is securely tucked behind the curtain.

Leftids rejoice. Said one lump of a college professor, “Shutting down business… can be done!” Hooray. Obey Only Black Lives Matter, or we’ll shut you down.

If this technology really worked like it’s supposed to, wouldn’t that mean many fewer people mistakenly arrested and charged with crimes?

Anyhow, the CEO of IBM is yapping about “police technology” and how he doesn’t want police to have it.

How about government? Is it okay for the Deep State to have it? Y’know, like, so they could stop Republicans from being elected president.

They don’t want a lot of little Big Brothers. Just a couple of really big Big Brothers.

I tried something a little different with this week’s Newswithviews column–instead of one main topic, a lot of little ones. Thomas Sowell does it sometimes, and he’s famous.

A Few Random Thoughts

Not that I’m trying to get famous–really, it’s too late for that–but I would like for people to read my books. Meanwhile, those of us who can write, have a duty to write the truth. I realize that makes Democrats hate us, and disqualifies us to teach at any university: but who wants to keep company with leftids, anyway?

We’re in Deep Trouble

Let’s put it simply: a republic whose free elections may be overturned and undone, by persons who have neither the right nor the authority to do so, is in mortal danger.

That’s us.

We’ve got scandals popping up all over, more characters involved than in The Lord of the Rings. This latest one, billed as a “DC cover-up as big as Spygate,” involves officers of the Justice Dept., major nooze media honchos, and U.S. Senators in a coordinated effort to undo the 2016 presidential election and remove the elected president, Donald Trump, from office (https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/02/11/the-dc-cover-up-thats-as-big-as-spygate/).

This month eight shady wheeler-dealers got indicted for funneling foreign money–illegal!–to practically every prominent Democrat in America. The whole world now knows that rogue schemers within the FBI lied to a judge, and presented phony manufactured evidence, to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.

And there was that whole Mueller probe fishing expedition, which after three years came up with exactly nothing, and the House Democrats’ travesty of an impeachment. Not to mention all the other Dems wetting their beaks in the lucrative pools of Ukrainian corruption. Even a few Republicans there.

I am a political scientist, and have intensively studied history. I’m here to tell you that there’s only so much of this that a republic can take before it collapses. This is what happened to the Roman Republic: subverted and destroyed from within, by ambitious men who didn’t care what happened to their country, as long as they came out on top. You wind up getting ruled by Caligula and Nero.

It’s alarming that not one of these conspirators has yet been packed off to jail. Instead, they get to send other people to prison. Mostly for the crime of having known or worked for Trump at one time or another.

They do it for money, although they’re already rich. They do it to gain more and more power, although they’re already alarmingly powerful. When it comes to wealth and power, they are insatiable.

Unless they’re stopped, unless someone puts the fear of God into them, these self-anointed rulers of ours will destroy our republic. They will wipe out our freedom–probably with the excuse of doing it To Save The Planet. But any excuse will do.

This is not right-wing wacko. These are real people, rich and powerful, people in government, people in media, celebrities, people in the legal system, who have taken it upon themselves to decide who can be president and who can’t, which elections shall stand and which shall not, and we should all just shut up and pay our taxes.

For our American republic it is very much a case of win or die.

We mustn’t think America’s the only country with a Deep State whose interests may diverge radically from the people’s.

Remember this from five years ago? They wouldn’t let you take “large sums” of your own money out of the bank unless you could convince them it was for a “good reason.”

You’ve got to understand how deep statists think. In their minds, nothing you own is yours; everything ultimately belongs to the government. Including your labor and your flesh and blood.

Democrat campaign slogan from a few years ago: “The government’s the only thing we call belong to.”

They need taking down a peg.

How about it, America? Are you getting mad yet? Mad at the Washington establishment, I mean–the Deep State. The Swamp.

They’ve been trying to overturn the 2016 presidential election since Election Night. Our votes don’t count, it seems. We were supposed to elect their candidate, Crooked Hillary. We didn’t, and so it’s been one damned thing after another–the Russian Collusion hoax, the Ukraine hoax, the impeachment that’s not an impeachment: not one day has passed without them trying to nullify our vote.

They refuse to enforce our borders.

They treat our money, that we worked for, like it was their money, which they didn’t.

While they shop around for bigger, better mansions, they want to Save The Planet by taking away the amenities we have.

They purposely foment racial strife, just to serve their own political ends.

They want to, and work to, “transform America” into God knows what–and pray we never find out.

And not one of them has been carted off to jail! Not one. They’re all strutting around as free as the wind. As free as Hunter Biden.

Elizabeth Warren thinks we need to pay “reparations.” Strike off more of that money that you worked for, but she didn’t. They’re so good at giving away other people’s money.

I don’t know about you, but it makes me mad to see them partying 24/7 at our expense. I don’t like to be governed by crooks and mountebanks.

They’re having a great time, and we’re paying for it. That really ought to make us mad.

Patriots vs. Oligarchs: We’re Not Alone

Globalists want to shut down nation-states and have a global government. But there’s still resistance, even in Europe, and it’s not going away.

European patriots gathered in Prague this weekend to proclaim their dedication to preserving their own nations and resisting the European Union’s drive to dominance. Among the highlighted speakers was Marie Le Pen, former candidate for president of France (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/04/29/le-pen-says-eu-same-goal-ussr-reduce-political-legal-capacities-resistance/).

Le Pen laid it on the line. The EU, she said, has “the same goal” as the Soviet Union: to weaken the nation-states, and to “reduce political and legal capacities of resistance… We are the resistance!” The EU, she said, is “for the benefit of an oligarchy of civil servants and experts.”

It’s not just President Trump standing between us and an all-devouring global state. Europe is full of leaders–and voters–who understand their peril and are laboring to save us from it.

But the oligarchy has had several decades in which to solidify its power, and it won’t go gently into that good night–as we see in our own country, in the efforts of the Deep State to stage a coup against our lawfully elected president. In France we saw the French nooze media successfully push the candidacy of statist throne-squatter Emmanuel Macron, by painting him out to be a nice safe “centrist” and branding Le Pen a “far right” extremist. Because she still believes in France, and wants to save it.

The last serious effort to create a global state was confounded by God, when He thwarted the building of the Tower of Babel.

God knew what He was doing when He divided our language and created nations. For all their faults, our nation-states protect us from the greater tyrannies that strive to rule the world. Alexander, Napoleon, and Hitler, and so many others, tried to do it by force. They failed. So their spiritual successors do it through secrecy, mischievous laws, and, in the language of Daniel, “by flattery.”

Anyway, it’s good to know we’re not alone.
