Too Much Pessimism

Pessimist High Resolution Stock Photography and Images - Alamy

There’s too much of this: Christians throwing in the towel, conceding their country and the world to communists and trannies and other villains–we’re done, we’re through, they win, the bad guys always win, etc., etc. You should see my  chess page. It’s enough to make you sit down and cry. Those guys laugh if they hear anybody else called a pessimist.

But here are a few little things to keep in mind.

Uh, whose lord has already been condemned to the lake of fire–ours or theirs?

Whose holy scriptures have endured for thousands of years? Hint: none of theirs.

Look at the difference between music created by Christians and music created by those who reject Christ.

By their fruits you shall know them. When was the last time you saw Darwinists embark on a food or clothing drive? Whose architecture is nicer, ours or theirs? Who spent the entire 20th century piling up a body count that dwarfs the murders of all the other centuries put together? It’s true that we Christians have things in our history for which we should be, and are, ashamed: but we have grown out of them. And even when we were waging religious wars against each other, those were nothing compared to communism’s war against the human race.

The thing about surrendering our country to the bad guys is–we can’t! No way. And the problem with normal, sane people is, they’re busy doing normal, sane things, like raising their families and doing their jobs, and they have little or no time for activism. Plus we are constitutionally averse to anything like an obsessive desire to control other people’s lives: but that desire scalds the heart of every leftist. So in that way they have the advantage over us.

But if God be for us, who can be against us? Some of us sound like we’ve forgotten that there is a God–our God, the awesome God: who has furthermore bought us with a price. Did Christ die in vain? Was He risen from the dead in vain? Did God create the earth as a playground for little socialist cabals who want to pick on people?

The idea of surrender shouldn’t even cross our minds.

Because our God is an awesome God!

‘Minds Set in Cement?’ (2014)

Sooner or later even the most deceptive villains will tell you what they’re all about. They can’t help it. As my friend John the homicide detective says, “Sooner or later they talk. They can’t help it.” Hercule Poirot would agree.

But until that happens, it’s terribly hard to change somebody’s mind.

Minds Set in Cement?

I think I once persuaded somebody that homeschooling was good. That’s not much to show for several decades’ worth of trying. But as long as people are prepared to listen to the truth when the bad guys inadvertently let it slip out, there’s hope.

Uh, like they’ve been doing in the streets of our cities this year: which tells us who they are and what they mean to do to us if they can ever get back into power.

By Request, ‘I’d Rather Have Jesus’

If you read the preceding post, you know that this hymn wound up getting requested twice: I’d Rather Have Jesus. I chose this treatment by Lindsay, of “Her Heart Sings,” out of many available.

I’ll continue to post Your Favorite Hymns until I come to the end of the list. But there’s no reason why that would ever have to happen, because the list is always open.

Your Favorite Hymns, Continued

Last night I loaded a hymn for this morning. Just now, before I posted it, I read the comments. And there was a reader, SlimJim, requesting the very hymn that was already scheduled for today.

Now how does that happen? I mean, there are thousands and thousands of hymns he could have asked for: how did he pick the one hymn that was already scheduled?

This is not the first time this has happened. And I’ll bet it won’t be the last.

Birds Do It, Too

I was sure I could find birds playing with a spring-powered boing-boing door stopper, but it took me a while to find this little video. This is probably as far as I want to take this theme. Lizards and fish don’t play with door stoppers. But don’t let a carp sucker you into a game of Sorry.

Wild Weather

PHOTOS: Cape Cod Storm Damage – CBS Boston

Well, that tropical storm is now visiting us here in New Jersey, and it’s a lulu.

I found a sheltered spot outside where I could have my cigar and watch the storm, but had to cut it short. Big branches were breaking off the trees and coming down all over. Patty’s car is now surrounded by tree wreckage, but happily has suffered no direct hits so far. Please pray it doesn’t!

The wind is simply furious, there’s going to be quite a mess to clean up later. Our lights have been flickering: please pray they don’t go out altogether.

Somehow I’m supposed to write a Newswithviews column. Lots of luck with that.

A Prayer for China

China on highest flood alert as 38m people evacuated - Nikkei ...

You probably haven’t heard this story; but as you read this, China’s Three Gorges Dam, the biggest dam in the world, is heavily stressed by monsoon flooding–and tens of millions of human lives, millions of acres of farmland, and millions of tons of food could be lost (https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-risks-of-chinas-three-gorges-dams-flooding/). It could be the worst single natural disaster in all of history.

The Chinese government so far has evacuated almost 40 million people from the threatened areas. That’s a small fraction of the people in danger.

Back when China had an emperor, natural disasters were seen as a sign that the emperor had lost the Mandate of Heaven and needed to be replaced. If there is such a thing as a Mandate of Heaven, I doubt the Chinese Communist Party ever had it. But it would not be strange if any failure of the dam were laid squarely at the government’s door by the Chinese people. The government ran the dam up in record time, ignoring safety and quality concerns, so they could display it as a triumph of communism.

I hate communism, it is an accursed relic of the 20th century, and it ought to be expunged from the earth. Nevertheless, the people of China need our prayers.

O Lord our God! Have mercy on the Chinese people, who have suffered much from their own evil government and now stand in peril of destruction. Many of them don’t know you, Lord; but many of them do. Hear them when they call upon your name! Save them out of this danger; and may the whole world see, and know, that you have done it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Back to School? 4 out of 5 Say ‘Maybe Not’

Old Empty School Abandoned And Boarded Up Stock Photo - Image of ...

They have to re-open the building before they can go back to indoctrinating your kids.

(Thanks to Susan for the news tip)

A poll claims 4 out of 5 parents say they’re “considering” continuing homeschooling for their kids rather than sending them back to school this fall (https://www.studyfinds.org/scared-for-school-parents-homeschooling-kids-covid-19/).

That’s good news: the longer they have to do without public education, the more people will realize they can do without it. But so far the parents’ primary concern is whether the schools can protect their children from the Chinese Communist Doomsday Virus. Four out of five don’t think so. And 25% say uh-uh, under no circumstances will we allow our kids back into those classrooms, they’re just not safe.

A lot of folks who think of themselves as “conservatives” want the schools to be re-opened next month and the kids to go back. They haven’t thought this through. Without public education, including colleges and universities, the rise and success of cultural Marxism would be completely impossible. This is where all that toxic garbage comes from: our “education” establishment.

Trust me on this one, folks:

Defund the universities, break the teachers’ unions, kill public education… and Far Left Crazy dies.

According to WordPress, I have almost 1,600 followers. And yet my views here are down 100-120 a day from what they were two months ago. What gives?

Well, today someone told us that she’d received an email notification of a new post–for the first time in months.

Gee, that would answer the question, “Where did everybody go?” If they’re not getting their email notifications of new posts, they won’t know there are new posts and won’t visit the blog.

Hello out there! Are you getting your email notifications whenever there’s a new post?

WordPress also needs to restore my reblog function, which hasn’t worked in other a month.

It’s very hard to make progress when your support lets you down.

‘Remote-Controlled… People?’ (2017)

The nirvana of the Left

Does this seem like a better idea than it seemed three years ago?

No. It just seems like they’re already doing it.

Remote-Controlled… People?

I don’t understand the desire to control other people’s lives, but leftids live for it. If the Diversity mob could wipe out every vestige of diversity, if the Pro-Choice crowd could take away every choice but one, they’d all think they’d died and gone to heaven.

Controlling your life… and it’s all for your own good, don’tcha know.
