A Chilling Bible Verse

The God Moloch Engraving From 1873 Featuring Ancient God, Moloch And A Child Sacrifice. moloch god stock illustrations

Sacrificing a child to Moloch: the Carthaginians did it, too, and you know what happened to them.

In Jeremiah 7:16, God tells the prophet, “Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayers for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.”

That was for the land of Judah. Stop praying for them, God ordered Jeremiah. Well, how far are we from reaching that point of no return? For Judah it was worshiping idols and giving up their children as human sacrifices. We abort babies in the womb and, should they chance to get past the abortionist, we use the public schools to encourage them to have healthy body parts cut off, and themselves permanently sterilized, for “gender reassignment.”

And just yesterday Congress–all the Democrats, plus their RINO playmates–voted to “protect” same-sex pseudomarriage (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/11/just-senate-votes-62-37-advance-bill-protect-sex-marriage-republicans-voted-democrats/). And do you know what they did, just to make it political dynamite to vote against it? They linked it to “interracial marriage”–which no one was talking about, no one threatened it, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with “gay marriage.” But this way if you vote against the bill, you’re a Racist who wants to break up interracial marriages. A real old-fashioned high-school Charlie trick.

Does anybody think these things please God?

And in the name of Heaven, what do “conservatives” in Washington think that they’re conserving?

Oh, Lord our God! Remember, remember, that these things are done against our will, without our consent, and over our objections!

A Meditation: Prophets

Image result for images of ezekiel

My Bible reading has brought me again to the prophecies of Jeremiah and Ezekiel: and the word that God delivers through them, as usual, has very badly scared me.

God is going to lower the boom on Israel, on Judah, and on Jerusalem. He is going to pour out His wrath on them; and these, His prophets, deliver the warning of impending destruction and call for national repentance. And of course they don’t repent, and God wipes them off the map.

When I read these writings, I can’t help feeling that the prophets are also talking about my country, in my time. America. And other countries that have rejected or bastardized their Christian heritage. All of us. Those warnings apply to us.

So, yeah, I’m scared. Is it too late for us to repent? Too late to turn aside God’s wrath? Have we as a nation allowed one too many abortions, one too many Drag Queen Story Hours, one too many mutilations of children to “reassign their gender,” one too many preachers silenced for preaching God’s word, one too many mockeries of marriage, one too many pagan idols carried into our churches… Can we allow those things, and still escape judgment? Have we already run out of time? Has our punishment actually begun?

What can we do but pray?

O Lord our God! Remember that these things are done against our will, without our consent, and over our objections! Remember that we have tried to stop them, but have not the power to do so. Remember, Lord, and deliver us out of the hands of those who do those wicked and ungodly things, and refuse to repent, refuse to change their ways. In Jesus’ name, O God, deliver us. Amen.

‘Church Without Christ’

Kristyn Getty singing In Christ Alone

In Christ Alone, by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, is one of the most frequently-requested hymns around here. In just a few short years it became a classic.

But you won’t find it in the Presbyterian Church USA hymnal.

Church Without Christ

Does the PC in PCUSA stand for “politically correct”?

One line in the hymn refers to the wrath of God being satisfied by Christ’s atoning death on the cross. This was too much for the PC corner. “Wrath of God??? Waddaya mean, the wrath of God!? Well I never–!” Next thing you know, God’ll be expecting people to believe in Him. Who knows what that might lead to? “There’s no place in our church for orthodox Christian doctrine!”

If this denomination makes it to the next century, it’ll be a miracle.

What Is God About to Do?

Mosaic of Christ Pantocrator (S. Apollinare nuovo (Basilica ...

For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”  1 Corinthians 1: 19

This is the age of panic. Our entire ruling class–politicians, banks, big corporations, social media platforms, Hollywood, teachers’ unions and college professors–is stampeding to grovel before Only Black Lives Matter. They’re wiping out our culture: no more Aunt Jemima, no more Eskimo pies, no more Theodore Roosevelt statue at the American Museum of Natural History, no more history… One wonders if they mean to ban everything.

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called… (v. 26).

There’s none of them left on our side, they’ve all rushed over to the Far Left side of the boat–a good way to make it capsize. The wise, the mighty, the noble; the rich and famous, the influential: they compete with each other to see who can be the most obsequious, the most servile, the most woke.

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence. (verses 27-29)

So there’s no one left on our side but us. The little people, the nobodies, the deplorables. The ones they laugh at when they hunker down in Davos with overpriced cocktails. Whose only function is to pay taxes and do what we’re told.

It is well within God’s power and authority to bring this era to a close, to bring down the curtain with a crash; and when He does, it will be in such a way that no one will be able to attribute it to anyone or anything but Him. The Lord our God, strong to save.

They call the preaching of the gospel foolishness. They’d like to stamp it out.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (v. 25)

It’s going to be a bad time for those who have chosen the wrong side. Their visitation will not be infinitely postponed.

‘In Christ Alone’

I love to hear this now and then–In Christ Alone, by Keith and Kristyn Getty.

A lot of flatline denominations these days, and lukewarm Christians of all stripes, object strenuously to the doctrine of the Blood Atonement. Heck, it’s only the whole basis of our salvation. So they rejected this hymn for their hymnals because it contains the line, “The wrath of God was satisfied.” Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…

By Special Request: ‘God’s Gonna Cut You Down’ (Johnny Cash)

Modern Christians, many of them, don’t like to think about God’s just wrath and do all they can to dismiss it from their minds. But it’s part of the way the world works, and to ignore it is to ignore reality. Be of good cheer, though: forgiveness and redemption through Jesus Christ is also part of how the world works.

If some of the faces in this video seem hauntingly familiar, it’s because they all belonged to famous criminals who came to bad ends. As Psalm 73 reminds us, they don’t get away with it forever: Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors (verses 18-19).

Warnings of God’s wrath are meant to move us to repentance. They should be heeded.

It’s hard to imagine anyone but Johnny Cash singing this.

Wells Fargo and ‘Transgender Pride’

So now we’ve got a transgender flag. Isn’t that freakin’ wonderful?

There’s almost nothing that can be said about this story: Wells Fargo lights up its big office building in Charlotte, NC, in support of “transgender pride,” with the colors of some “transgender flag” ( http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/transgender-flag-Wells-Fargo-North-Carolina-7227279.php ).

A Christian friend of mine advises me to ignore stuff like this. “It’s not the Christian’s job to stop the tidal wave,” he said. “Just tell people there’s a way they can get out of it.”

That may be. But my heart is lacerated with shame for my country, and burdened with a fear of God’s wrath.

Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.

Whistle-Blower Indicted, Planned Parenthood Skates

It’s against the law to sell baby parts. Undercover videos have made it clear that Planned Parenthood regularly sells baby parts.

Naturally, nothing has happened to Planned Parenthood, aside from a brief spell of bad publicity. They’ll still be getting half a billion dollars of our money every year.

But the pro-life activists who exposed Planned Parenthood for selling baby parts–well, they’ve been indicted for trying to buy baby parts ( http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/2016/01/25/planned-parenthood-videos-grand-jury-indictment/79318450/ ).

Logic break: If the pro-lifers are guilty for trying to buy baby parts from Planned Parenthood, does it not follow that Planned Parenthood must also be guilty for trying to sell baby parts? I mean, they’ve got it right there on the videotape, the whole country saw it…

All right, this is a Houston Democrat kangaroo court, defending liberalism for all it’s worth.

Let us pray, nevertheless, that any trial resulting from this indictment blows up sky-high right in Planned Parenthood’s face.

Planned Parenthood in America is a national disgrace, a shame on us in the eyes of a just and mighty God. He will not hold back His wrath forever.

Lord, please remember us, your people: and remember that these things are done without our consent and against our will.

Gloom and Doom Report: Yellowstone Volcano

The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof: the world, and they that dwell therein…   –Psalm 24

Fortified by hymns and a bike ride, I return to my journalistic function. Wahoo.

Today we have scientists warning us that the volcano under Yellowstone Park, or some other big nasty, might blow sky-high in an eruption: “a major one that could kill millions and devastate the planet” ( http://www.express.co.uk/news/science/632054/Yellowstone-about-to-blow-1-in-10-chance-super-volcano-will-kill-millions ).

Global Warming gonna get us… no, it’s the ocean gonna get us… we’re all gonna die…

There have been some pretty terrible volcanic eruptions in the past–like Krakatoa, or the one that destroyed the Minoan civilization, and Vesuvius is always itching to wipe out a few more cities. But it is not in the nature of a volcanic eruption to “devastate the planet.” I mean, The Planet is pretty big, and even the biggest eruption, by comparison, is pretty small….

If Christians warn people that God’s wrath is nothing to trifle with, and that He just might order the land to spew us out, well, they all laugh at us, or even shake their fists and make faces at us.

But when “scientists” warn us that we’re doomed, we’re all supposed to take it seriously.

They’re always trying to scare us. I think it’s supposed to whip us into line. There’s absolutely nothing they can do to prevent the volcano under Yellowstone from erupting; but if this story gets repeated often enough, you can bet the house that somebody in Washington will move to set up a Dept. of Volcano Safety and demand we all pay higher taxes. Or it’s part of Climate Change, and we must all pay higher taxes.

Or, like, maybe we could stop provoking God’s wrath?

I dare any public figure to suggest that.
