UCLA Med School… ‘Failed’

Morgus the Magnificent celebrates 60 years on local TV

Did Dr. Morgus go to UCLA med school?

Half of UCLA’s medical students “now fail basic tests of medical competence,” according to the latest figures. It’s blamed on the dean of admissions, Jennifer Lucero–who, it seems, has completely ignored both the United States Supreme Court and California state law, both of which have banned racial preferences and all other forms of “affirmative action.”

‘A Failed Medical School’: How Racial Preferences, Supposedly Outlawed in California, Have Persisted at UCLA

Students take “shelf exams” for basic medicine; and since 2020, half of them have failed. Don’t get sick in California, folks.

Affirmative action at UCLA has been banned since 1996, and DEI–“Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”–now stands for “Didn’t Earn It.” More on that a little later today.

So they’ve been flouting state and federal law, and who knows how many patients, coast to coast, will suffer because they have incompetent physicians?

Small price to pay for “anti-racism”!

‘The Spirit of Caleb’ (2020)

Tiny grasshoppers on the top of a morning glory leaf at first ...

When they finally came to the borders of the Promised Land, the spies sent out by the Children of Israel made reports that drained the life out of the nation. “The country’s full of giants! We’re only grasshoppers, compared to them! We’re doomed–doomed, I tell you!” And so on and so forth.

But then Caleb spoke.

The Spirit of Caleb

Caleb believed God would keep His promise to give the land to Israel.

We need a large helping of his spirit!

By Request, ‘Nothing But the Blood of Jesus’

Requested by Erlene, to start the day–Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, sung by Leah Mari (I think).

The hymn shop’s open to everybody, you don’t need a secret password to get in.

A Game With Norbert

You could always play this game with our cat, Buster. Here Norbert, the world’s cutest dog, plays it, too. The video’s eight years old, but I am happy to say Norbert’s still with us. Does he still work as a therapy dog, or has he retired?

Barna: ‘A Time of Christian Invisibility’

George Barna on Trends in Culture, the Church & More!

George Barna: we should listen to him.

We haven’t heard from George Barna in a while: the nooze has distracted us. But he’s still out there, researching Christian worldview issues and warning us all not to allow our churches to slide into irrelevance (https://www.christianpost.com/news/george-barna-identifies-biggest-threats-facing-the-church.html).

“People have become more selfish, churches have become less influential, pastors have become less Bible-centric,” Barna writes. He points to “a steady decrease in a biblical worldview” and “a dwindling concern for spiritual formation.”  Seminaries, he says, should stop “focusing on programs and buildings.”

Much more attention needs to be paid, he writes, to the spiritual education of Christians’ children–which they will certainly not get, I say, in today’s public schools.

Barna sees it as an urgent message to be vigorously delivered. Who can disagree? Failure to do this, failure to train up children in the way that they should go, will have culturally disastrous results.

Who says he’s wrong?

They Want ‘Out’ of Oregon

Over the line: Why some Oregonians want to become part of Idaho - CBS News

Another county has voted to secede from Oregon and join Idaho–that’s 13 Oregon counties for the Greater Idaho movement (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13447357/THIRTEEN-conservative-counties-Oregon-approve-ballot-measures-SECESSION-vote-join-non-woke-Idaho-issue-list-demands.html).

Why do they want to leave?

Oregon’s “progressive” stupid policies have saddled the state with high taxes, high crime rates, and widespread drug abuse; and by now 14 of Oregon’s counties have had enough and don’t want any more.

If the secession were carried out, Idaho’s border would advance 200 miles into the west, shrinking Oregon drastically. But don’t worry–Oregon will still have the same woke counties and the same woke government that frustrated and alienated the western half of the state.

“And remember… you asked for it!”

‘Different Strokes, Different Folks’ (My Newswithviews Column, May 23)

Optical Illusions Art Gallery - Little Passports

When optical illusions burst into politics… watch out!

Why do people see the same things so differently? I don’t know why; but I do know it can lead to problems. Sometimes very big problems.

Different Strokes, Different Folks

I see a cat, you see a dog. We can both be wrong, but we can’t both be right. Turn right or turn left, you’ve got to make a choice.

How strong is our nation’s commitment to peace and order?

I’m afraid we’re going to find out the hard way.

‘Can You Name a Book? Any Book?’ (2018)

Premium Photo | An eerie room filled with numerous books ...

“Books? Oh, yes, we have books!”

We have the costliest and most intrusive “education” regime in world history–and what do we get out of it?

Illiterates. Stunatas.

‘Can You Name a Book? Any Book?’

Writing and reading–without them, there’s no civilization. The best we can do is hand down stories by word of mouth; and if you’ve ever played “telephone,” you know how the message gets distorted over time.

Is it necessary to ask, “Well, then, what the dickens are they learning in those public schools, if they don’t read?”

I think we all know the answer to that question.

‘Revive Us Again’

An old classic from way back–Revive Us Again, sung by Nathan (autoharp) and Lyle (guitar) in Denton County, Texas. It brings me back to Sunday school–not a bad place to be, right about now.

The Cat’s Funny Friend

This video takes me back to happy times! My iguana had dog and cat friends, and a lot of cuddling went on–especially on winter days, with snow outside. You should’ve seen them. Cat, dog, lizard, all cuddled up on the bed. Three amigos.
