Censorship Marches On

Don’t worry–they only censor Republicans and conservatives.

Now it’s Mailchimp, a mass marketing platform that serves small businesses. They’ve changed their Terms of Use. In their own words:

“Mailchimp does not allow the distribution of Content that is, in our sole discretion, materially false, inaccurate, or misleading in a way that could deceive or confuse others about important events, topics, or circumstances” (https://www.zerohedge.com/political/mailchimp-will-now-deactivate-accounts-sending-false-inaccurate-or-misleading-emails).

Huh? That sounds like a description of our nooze media! Except here Mailchimp claims the authority to decide what’s false, inaccurate, or misleading. You know–like any reference to Hunter Biden and his pop doing dirty deals with foreign zillionaires. That can’t be true because it hurts Democrats.

If they think that anything you say is false, inaccurate, or misleading, Mailchimp will de-activate your account. And there’s nothin’ you can do about it because it’s a private business, they don’t have to handle your account if they don’t want it. Although for some reason a private club has to let you in if they don’t want to–but I digress.

Yes–if they don’t like your politics, they feel entitled to damage your business. Libs always feel entitled.

Why don’t we elect leaders who’ll protect us?

Here it is, only halfway through the morning, and I’ve already learned two new things!

One. There’s no such thing as organized pedophilia, or pedophile rings. Why, that’s just a cwazy wepublican conspiracy theory! And to say that President Trump is an intelligent man who’s trying to stop worldwide sex trafficking–well, that’s just crazy, too. Dammit! The social media shoulda started censoring all this stuff years ago, before it got so big. Maybe they were too busy trying to stamp out Climbit Change Denial.

Two. There is no “liberal fascism” anywhere, and certainly, certainly not in college! Our universities are temples of free speech. (Good grief–there are people who actually believe that?) They never, never, never punish students for taking a dissenting view of anything! And so what if some 90% of the teaching staff is left-wing? So is all the rest of America! Really! People just aren’t conservatives!

Which leads me to another blog post altogether…

France Goes Full-Throttle for Censorship

How’s this for a deal? Get private companies, mostly American-owned, to act as unpaid thought police… for France! (https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/16057/france-free-speech)

France has a new law aimed at ridding the Internet of “hate speech.” The law makes search engines and social networks–again, mostly American-owned–responsible for removing any kind of “hate speech” that anyone in France posts on the Internet.

Private companies will have just 24 hours to delete “hateful” comments or video, and one hour to delete “terrorist content.” Failure to do so will be punished with extremely high fines.

So what is all this “hate speech”? It’s any speech “inciting or glorifying terrorism, hate, violence or racist or religious abuse.” The actual definition is, shall we say, murky.

So you’re French and you post something about, say, adultery being a sin–which of course it is–and some American company, say, Twitter, decides unilaterally that your comment is “hateful” and takes action against you. Can you appeal it? Lots of luck with that! And the fines are so high, private companies are going to have to develop quick trigger fingers–they won’t want to cough up 4% of their yearly earnings.

What if you say “Such-and-such is a false religion”? Richard Dawkins et al say that about Christianity every day. Will they be silenced? Dream on. What if you say “White people are to blame for everything that’s wrong, and they should be dealt with harshly”? American college professors say that every day. Will they be censored? Don’t hold your breath waiting for that.

But say a discouraging word about “transgender” wackos and see what happens. Only the Left’s Cherished Minorities actually get cherished. The rest of us are always fair game.

These American companies habitually censor conservatives while giving assorted leftids a total free pass. They won’t mind censoring French conservatives, too. And wherever “hate” gets morphed into “social justice,” there won’t be any censorship.

Despite their historical flirtation with “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” France has an awful lot to learn about free speech. They never have quite mastered it.

And now they’ve given up trying to.

There’s so much going on in the wonderful world of Internet censorship that I hadn’t a prayer of keeping up to date. The story changes by the hour. The only thing that doesn’t change is that Big Tech, in cahoots with the Democrat Party and other Far Left wackos, is trying everything they can think of to stifle conservative voices and manipulate next year’s national elections.

When I call these people neo-Stalinists, I’m not kidding.

So Facebook’s Gonna Protect You from ‘Bullying’

Facebook is planning to add a new feature to Instagram that’s supposed to protect users from “bullying” (https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/instagram-s-anti-bullying-feature-warns-users-if-they-re-n1027521).

Read the linked-to article carefully: betcha can’t find any definition of “bullying.”

All right, logic and reason are racist or something, I shouldn’t be using them–but what do these guys mean by “bullying”? I have heard from left-wing losers who say any dissent from their position constitutes “violence.” Not very rigorous in their use of language, are they?

So Facebook is going to make it possible to mute online “bullies,” whatever they are, without them knowing they’ve been muted.

Why do I suspect their definition of “bullying” would include, oh, supporting President Trump, making fun of Democrats, disagreeing that two parties of the same sex constitute a marriage, not buying into “transgender”… The list could go on all morning.

Complete the sentence and win a tin foil hat: “I trust the social media platform owners to be fair and honest because __________.”

Ghaaaaah! Exhausted!

I don’t know why that bird is hanging upside-down, and neither does the other bird; but I feel like I might join him.

I have just finished my humongous assignment for Chalcedon, to write a 2,700-word article on the current state of censorship by the social media and elsewhere on the Internet. Actually, I pooped out at 2,400 words. And I know there’s all sorts of stuff going to happen that would’ve been good to include in the article–but it just can’t be done.

I really wanted to include Marlene’s comments on the several times they’ve banned her, but somehow communications between us got cut off until today, and now it’s too late.

But what am I standing around for? I haven’t written Joe Collidge yet. Let me see if I can do it without melting into a shapeless mass of weariness.

Still Shut Down

The Chalcedon Foundation website (www.chalcedon.edu) is still shut down, we still don’t know what happened to it, and our tech guys are still working to try to bring us back online.

Just a couple of weeks ago some “journalist” sporting a rainbow T-shirt and a Palestinian face mask was “investigating” us for being a “hate group.” The substance of his investigation was that the Southern Poverty Law Center called us a hate group in 2006, so obviously we must be one, yatta-yatta. He complains to our server, and the next thing we know, our website is down.

Some of us have come to believe that Big Tech will do whatever it takes to ensure a Democrat presidency from whom they can buy whatever favors they need. Part of that strategy has to be to stifle conservatives, to erase their presence from the social media.

Meanwhile, Patty has solved and corrected the problem of my book chapters coming out as gibberish, so at least that one can come off Chalcedon’s to-do list.

Please pray for my employers and my mentors, The Chalcedon Foundation. Father in Heaven, we are being kept from our ministry–this is my belief–by the ungodly, who have interfered with our communications. They can’t get at you, so they come after your servants. Please, Lord, see us through this frustrating time, help us get back online, and protect us from the malice of your enemies. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Well, Now What Do I Do?

Really, I was going to start working on my Chalcedon assignment this afternoon, a long article on Internet and social media censorship–

–Only now the Chalcedon website is down. See for yourself, http://www.chalcedon.edu/ .

We know they’ve been trying to shut us down, because we’re a Christian ministry and that’s what you do with Christian ministries. Our “crime” was to be accused by the Southern Poverty Law Center and some other Far Left hate groups–they accused us of being a “hate” group, therefor we shouldn’t be allowed a presence on the Internet. In Lefty Land, the mere accusation is the same as being found guilty. Ask Brett Kavanagh.

Last we heard, we were being “investigated” by some so-called “journalist” who poses in a “rainbow” T-shirt and a PLO-style mask over the lower half of his face. Think we can expect a fair shake from him?

So I don’t know how to get the story started because the news is breaking this way and that, every day, we don’t know when we’ll get our website back in service, we don’t know why it’s down–but we do know that the Left is gunning for us. We do know that.

Caught! Google Wants to Control the Next Election

Project Veritas, maybe the last investigative reporters in America, has caught Google trying to hatch a plan to prevent “another Trump situation” in 2020 (https://www.projectveritas.com/2019/06/24/insider-blows-whistle-exec-reveals-google-plan-to-prevent-trump-situation-in-2020-on-hidden-cam/).

Now, to understand this story, you have to understand the Far Left Crazy mind-set. They wanted Hillary to be president, and therefor you should have, too. If you didn’t, it can only be because you’re a villain or a fool and no one has to listen to you and your vote shouldn’t count. And they are entitled to do anything, absolutely anything, to get the election outcome that they want.

Veritas has a Google exec on videotape saying Google is committed to “never letting someone like Donald Trump come to power again.” Asked about Far Left Democrat Elizabeth Warren’s call for Google to be broken  up because it’s too big (even a broken clock is right twice a day), the executive said that would be a big mistake because smaller companies “don’t have the resources” to prevent Mr. Trump’s re-election–whereas Google and the rest of Big Tech are “working diligently to prevent” it.

Have we taken a wrong turn into South America in the 1950s? Down there they used to call this kind of thing an imposicion–literally, “imposing” a regime upon the people, usually against their will.

“People like us are programmed,” boasted the exec, proud of something that ought to be a source of shame. The goal, she said, is to have “a single point of truth” across their entire line of protects. That would be Far Left “truth,” of course. The exec admitted that Google suppresses “right-wing content.” “Right-wing” would be anyone who isn’t them.

Has this now gone far enough for you? Do we really want a cabal of grotty little people slipping Bernie Sanders under the door of the White House?

Yo, Congress! This has indeed gone far enough. Break up these self-proclaimed opinion-shapers, break their stranglehold on political discussion, don’t let them do this stuff next year. Make them take their dirty hands off our elections.

Don’t make us see to it ourselves. We know you’re not afraid of us; but you’d better learn to be, if you want to stay in office.
