I won’t say I’ve ever caught Robbie or Peep lighting up one of my cigars–mostly because they don’t have opposable thumbs. But I will say you can’t really understand cats or dogs until you realize that these are not toys but actual personalities–persons, if you will–that are apart from yours; that a cat or dog has his own agenda which is not necessarily or even likely yours; and that if they love you, they’re sincere.
But they can also use hammocks or tuck themselves into bed.
Writing about transgenderism leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I doubt it’s much fun to read about it, either.
My Australian chess buddy, “optimal play,” has introduced me to Australian bush ballads. This one is Diamantina Drover by John Williamson, and I found it beautiful and moving. See? God made us with the ability to create beautiful things as well as evil and ugliness. It’s our choice which.
Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy this sanity break as much as I have.

“Oh, I want to be a girl! And my mommy and my school promised I could take those ‘stop puberty’ drugs real soon! I don’t know what puberty is, but I know it’s very bad!”
Planned Parenthood–whose goal is stopping human reproduction by any means available–has come out with new guidelines to “teach” pre-schoolers, three and four years old, all about transgenderism and masturbation. ( http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/you-will-be-shocked-when-you-learn-what-planned-parenthood-wants-to-teach-preschoolers-about-sex) They also propose to teach parents “ways of determining whether your child is trans or not”–something that would not occur to any normal parent. But “talking with a counselor or therapist who’s familiar and supportive of LGBTQ identities–” what the Hell is this, anyway?–“is a good idea.” Oh, yeah: best idea since “ye shall be as gods.”
Planned Parenthood carries on this pogrom against sanity in the public schools, which we all pay for, and with $500 million of our own tax moneys, doled out to them every year by a Congress which is curiously inattentive to our wishes.
Have any of you, ever in your lives, seen anything take off like this push for “transgender”? Satan has scored big with this one.
If we don’t put a stop to it, God will.

So this is the Democrat Party that babbles about how it’s going to reach out to regular Americans who don’t belong to far-left wacko subcultures. They’re going to wage culture war for the high and noble cause of allowing “transgendered persons”–that is, intensely disturbed individuals who have had themselves mutilated so they can claim to belong to the opposite sex–serve in the armed forces, after President Donald Trump said they’d have to be kept out from now on (http://www.nwahomepage.com/news/politics/transgender-ban-democrats-say-theyre-ready-for-culture-war/775927918).
Thank you, Mr. President. For eight years, with ol’ *Batteries Not Included in the White House, America’s armed forces were used as a laboratory for bizarre sociological experiments. Defending the American people by winning or deterring wars was at the bottom of the list. If we had ever had to go to war with a major power with a 21st-century military, we would have quickly been defeated. That’s what happens when you march your ROTC cadets around in ladies’ red shoes instead of training them how to be officers.
Meanwhile, Democrats assume the American people are solidly behind “transgender rights.” After all, a rally in San Francisco said so. Why, to be averse to “transgender” is “un-American”! And weren’t there at least 16 transgendered individuals who signed the Declaration of Independence?
Well, if that’s the hill the Dems want to die on, I say help them do it.
Because “transgender” is an abomination and God will judge our age very, very harshly for it.
Lord, remember that these things are done without our consent, against our will, and over our objections.

I’ve just finished typing up half a dozen new chapters of The Temptation and sending them to Susan. The action of the story is heating up, so I’ll have to get out there tomorrow with my legal pad to find out where it goes next. I also write my Newswithviews column today, and for some reason, I’m really tired.
What will happen as Lord Chutt tries to dig up the ruins of Old Obann? Well, I can’t tell you that, not yet.
To rest my mind, I’m re-reading M. R. James’ collected ghost stories–surely the best ghost stories ever written.
And now to see if my printer is agreeable to printing the new chapters.
The last thing in the world desired by American liberals is racial harmony. It would put most of them out of work. So they do everything they can to keep the pot boiling.
HBO plans to come out with a new mini-series, Confederate, based on the premise that the South won the Civil War and still has slavery in the 21st century. A lot of people think this is simply more race-baiting; but the folks at HBO say, “Trust us, it’ll be real nice” (https://apnews.com/0e7beba6eea1404490720923932fb7e9/NoConfederate-campaign-against-HBO-slave-drama-takes-off). They do not offer us any reason why we should trust them.
Alternative history based on ignorance, for whipping up anger for political purposes–that’s what this is. In the exceedingly unlikely event that the Confederate states could have won their independence, and then kept it for another 150+ years, it’s even more unlikely they would have hung on to slavery. It would have been economic suicide, and would have deprived the new nation, outnumbered by its enemies, of millions of African-Americans who would have made good citizens, with much to contribute to their country. Besides which, even in 1865, there were many prominent Confederate leaders saying the time had come to abolish slavery: Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, just to name two.
But here the name of the game is to keep the racial grievance industry, dba the Democrat Party, in business. And that’s their only game.
“This is not fake!” an organization called “Conspiratruth” assures us. Well, you coulda fooled me.
That “giants in the earth” verse in the Bible (Genesis 6:4) has inspired an awful lot of twaddle. The Hebrew word doesn’t mean “genuine 15-foot tall giants who require special exemption to the laws of gravity so that their otherwise human skeletons don’t collapse,” but never mind. You don’t have to call them “nephilim.” You can call them “Annunaki.” They’re from Orion. There is not really any such place as Orion, but never mind.
The folks in this footage, otherwise occupied by some kind of military parade, seem to take the giant in their stride.
How many people, educated at great cost to the public and to their families, believe in conspiracy theories? In Annunaki from Orion? In “You can keep your doctor”?
