Yes, in 2016 we threw a monkey wrench into their plans by electing Donald Trump. Since then, they’ve been busy trying to undo that election. Try to imagine what our country would be like today, two years into Hillary Clinton’s first term.
When I try, it’s a waking nightmare.

The Greek historian Polybius praised the Roman Republic for its system of checks and balances. As a Greek, he had personal experience of “democracy” self-destructing into hysteria and mob rule.
Today presidential wannabe Hillary Clinton, still unable to come to terms with her defeat by Donald Trump and the American people, continues to push for the abolition of one of our country’s firmest and most successful checks and balances–the electoral college (https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/09/17/hillary-clinton-abolish-electoral-college-because-donald-trump-is-destroying-america/).
Why? Because Donald Trump won, and he’s “a racist.” And he’s destroying an “American democracy” that does not exist and never did: our Constitution guarantees us a republican form of government, not a democracy. Our founders read Polybius.
Of course, it would require a constitutional amendment to replace the electoral college with a straight popular vote. You don’t “just do it.” But I don’t think Democrats know that.
Without the electoral college, every presidential election would be dominated by Far Left crazy states California and New York; and a regular injection of illegal alien votes would ensure a perpetual Democrat presidency. Can’t have any of those voter ID laws, etc. That would be racist.
The electoral college protects America from being hijacked by a handful of states with big populations. It has always protected us from that. “Democracy,” Polybius wrote, never fails to degenerate, first into mob rule, finally into dictatorship. Sort of like what happened in Venezuela.
If you love your country, don’t even think about voting for a Democrat.

Did he wake up thinking he lives in Bolivia in 1908? Uh, dude, this is the United States of America and we don’t do that “take over” thing here. As badly as he might want America to be a Third World country, it isn’t. We don’t go in for coups d’etat, short-lived military juntas, firing squads, and all the rest of that cool progressive stuff.
Well, at least his remarks show us how Democrats are thinking, if that’s the word for it, and what they’d like to do if they ever got a chance to do it.
America cannot be great again until the Democrat Party is put out of business. Permanently.
Browsing around assorted news stories this weekend, and reading the comments from assorted readers, I think I have to say that Democrats are now wedded to the Russian Collusion Myth: that is, Hillary Clinton is the rightful president–yeesh, the Once and Future President, if you will–but she was cheated out of it by Donald Trump’s “collusion” with the Russians. It has been added to their scriptures, along with some verses declaring that no illegal aliens voted for Hillary, not even in California or Chicago.
Go ahead, ask them what form the Great Collusion took. Like, what did the Russians actually do? Government investigators swear there was no tampering with the voting machines and not a single vote was changed, or in any way affected, by anything “the Russians,” whoever they were, did. What did “the Russians” do, to cheat Hillary out of the presidency? And why would they not want to deal with a corrupt politician–that would be Hillary–whose cooperation they already knew to be always on sale? A big enough donation to the Clinton Foundation, and you get the nuclear launch codes. If anything, Russian bad guys would have wanted Hillary to be president!
But the Democrats sit down by the waters of the Potomac and weep. It’s so unfair! It was Her Turn to be president! Her turn! She simply could not have lost without all that Russian cheating!
I’m old enough to notice that Democrats never got this upset about Russian tanks rolling into Hungary.
It remains to be seen whether their faith in Her Turn is strong enough to move them to nominate Hillary again. Once more into the breach, dear friends! This time it’ll work! This time we’ll keep the Russians out, and this time she will win!
I hope they try it. I really hope they do.

Yes, Hillary is busy–raising money, exhorting Dumbocrats to protest in the streets, and screaming bloody murder over anything and everything done by President Donald Trump. She’s helping to set up and fund new political action committees with names like “Demand Justice”–oh, please–and “Onward Together,” groups dedicated to defending abortion, saving Obamacare, and preventing voter fraud reform.
One of the reasons Michael Goodwin thinks she’s got a shot at it is that the Democrats don’t have a potential presidential candidate who’s not either a living fossil or a rug-chewing Far Left psycho (he doesn’t quite put it that way, but I will).
Well, I hope they run Hillary again in 2020, and again in 2024, and again in 2028, and as many times it takes to drive the Democrat Party into permanent extinction.

Not to be outdone by a mere laughing stock of a university, some group called “The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights” is going to give its award to Cecile Richards, recently retired president of baby-slaughtering Planned Parenthood, for–get this–“selfless and devoted service to the cause of equality.” You wonder how they can say such things. Well, we’re all “equal” in death, aren’t we? But in life Ms. Richards made a fortune killing babies and selling off their body parts.
Too bad Countess Elizabeth Bathory isn’t still alive. I’m sure they’d give her a medal, too. She sort of did what Cecile Richards does, only it was several hundred years ago and the victims weren’t unborn babies, but mostly teenage girls.
Definitely she would get a medal, too.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it would also be too late for America by now, had Hillary Clinton been elected president in 2016.
But it does look like it’s a bit too late for Western Europe.

I wonder now, three years later, whether I went too far in blaming Muslims. It seems clear to me now that Western Europe has been committing slow and steady cultural suicide–and that Islam is only feeding on the carcass before it’s quite dead.
The secular statist crowd has been bashing Christians as immoral hypocrites for supporting President Donald Trump–because, y’see, he’s this immoral horn-dog and that makes us just as bad as he is.
The answer to this charge is laughably simple: He was running against Hillary Clinton. Of course we voted for him.
Given the fanaticism of Democrats, and the tantrum they’ve been throwing since Election Night 2016, a lot of us just don’t care about Mr. Trump’s personal life. We didn’t elect him to sainthood. We elected him to protect us from the leftid loons who are trashing our country.
Here are some actions which I consider deeply immoral and far more important to the nation than whether or not Mr. Trump had a fling with some porn star.
Undermining our immigration laws, debasing our citizenship, public officials flagrantly breaking those laws and encouraging others to do so, and all for no reason but political gain.
Redefining marriage.
Declaring “transgender” a good thing, and encouraging it–especially among children.
Funding abortion with public money.
Encouraging leftid thugs to intimidate and silence conservative speakers, destroy public and private property, and create a climate of fear.
Using the schools and colleges to indoctrinate very poorly equipped young people into modern Stalinism.
Telling “Climate Change” scare stories to stampede the public into making government bigger and more powerful, with “scientists” actually declaring it’s okay to lie about it, if that’s the way you get the people to do what you want. And threatening dissenters with the brute force of government.
Trying to erase the Second Amendment, so that criminals, psychos, and terrorists will be armed, but their victims won’t be.
Trying to erase the First Amendment, while they’re at it.
I could go on, but I think you get the point. Everything the Left does, and wants to do, is toweringly immoral and must be totally defeated. If anyone is responsible for turning our culture into a moral cesspool, it’s them. And they’ve done it on purpose, because their core beliefs are both depraved and asinine.
If we had a saint for president, they’d hate him even more than Trump.
