Once upon a time my sister Alice gave us two hooded rats (the white ones with the black heads) for Christmas. We’d never had pet rats before.
Well, hey, this video’s not lyin’. Rats (at least the ones of my acquaintance) are affectionate and playful–and very intelligent. If they could live ten years or so, they’d be reading and writing.
Whenever I had to take one of our rats in to see the vet, I’d just deposit her on my shoulder and there she’d stay until the vet examined her. Often the other people in the waiting room would go “Ew!” and make faces. But after they saw how good my little rat-girl was, usually they wanted to pet her.
Caveat: None of this applies to wild rats. Just in case anybody needed to be told.
In spite of multitudinous distractions, I’ve finished writing the first three chapters of my new book, Behold! I don’t know where I’m going, but that’s nothing new. I may need a better title by and by, but none has yet presented itself to me.
Meanwhile, Jack and Ellayne have seen glyptodons (see illustration) on their way to Durmurot, Ebed is aboard a ship from the Lost Continent, the new government of Obann City is trying to clean up the mess left by Lord Chutt’s usurpation, Ysbott the Snake is on his way to further mischief, and the old rat who lives under the baroness’ kitchen is having premonitions of bad times to come.

I can’t go to all those places and talk to all those people. What I see of the world, I see mostly through the window of the media. And I already know that the nooze media are 100% invested in some bogus “narrative” and that they lie at the drop of a hat.
So is what we’re seeing through that window real, or is it an illusion created by the media for a political purpose by carefully selecting sound bites and images whose effect is to deceive us into buying into their narrative?
You would surely get the impression, trundling through the nooze today, that virtually everybody now recognizes that America’s a racist hell-hole, police are homicidal monsters, white people are evil and need to be brought down–and what’s more, now they know it, and admit it!–and that the slightest word of any race hustler is tantamount to holy write.
But is that a true impression? Is it what’s really happening, or only what the nooze media want us to believe is happening? Remember, noozies never tell the truth if they can help it. Truth burns their lips.
You’d think our country was right on the brink of being overthrown and replaced by a race-based brass-knuckled socialist ant-hill, with no police but plenty of Antifa–and furthermore, that almost everybody wants this!
Why? Because being able to tell one face from another equals “racial profiling,” with “racial and gender disparities” and “human rights violations,” blah-blah-blah.
The fact that other companies are out-competing IBM in this field is securely tucked behind the curtain.
Leftids rejoice. Said one lump of a college professor, “Shutting down business… can be done!” Hooray. Obey Only Black Lives Matter, or we’ll shut you down.
If this technology really worked like it’s supposed to, wouldn’t that mean many fewer people mistakenly arrested and charged with crimes?
Anyhow, the CEO of IBM is yapping about “police technology” and how he doesn’t want police to have it.
How about government? Is it okay for the Deep State to have it? Y’know, like, so they could stop Republicans from being elected president.
They don’t want a lot of little Big Brothers. Just a couple of really big Big Brothers.
The great thing about a monster like Dracula is that even though he scares you, at the end of the book, he’s toast. But the headlines just go on and on, endless horror. Even if you could get rid of Pelosi, someone just as awful would take her place in a nanosecond.
It’s a great relief to escape from a horrific situation, even if it’s only by shutting the book.
If only we could shut the book on Far Left Crazy.

Some dogs just shouldn’t watch horror movies. They take them too seriously. Some want very badly to rescue the victim on the screen. Others try to hide. And there are a couple of surprises in here, too, but I don’t want to spoil them for you.
I had a mouse whom I tried to interest in a PBS series about the vikings, but it just never quite caught on with her.
Yuri Bezmenov defected from the Soviet KGB in the 1980s. In this 13-minute video, he warned us what the Soviets were trying to do to us. It happens in four stages.
First, “demoralization.” This would take 20 years or more. Use the schools and universities to “educate” young Americans to hate their country, sneer at their family’s religion, and abandon traditional morality for each new thing that comes down the pike–most of it bad.
Second “destabilization,” two to five years: destabilize the economy, foreign relations, and defense. Obama excelled at those things.
Third, “crisis.” In just six weeks or so, America’s communist enemies right here at home can brew up a nationwide crisis that makes people desperate and ready for a major change, which communism will provide. We seem to be at Stage Three today.
Four, “normalization”–a euphemism for permanent “change,” which would be Far Left Crazy change, a la Bernie Sanders. They can keep it in place by continually offering more free stuff, lying to the people, scaring them, getting them to snitch on each other–sort of a Mayor DeBlasio gig for the whole country. The lockdown, The Great Quarantine, with Democrat mayors and governors constantly moving the goalposts so we never get to the end of it, looks like batting practice in advance of the big game.
Funny–the Soviet Union is history, but their campaign against us continues apace, carried out by the fools and villains who were demoralized some 25 years ago.
And once America goes belly-up, Bezmenov warned, “There will be no place left to defect to.”
