Today’s Visit to the Supermarket

If you’ve been following this blog, you know I have a bad knee and it’s giving me fits. But things have to get done anyhow, bad knee or not. That includes grocery shopping.

I knew I’d have to lean on the shopping cart the whole time, and use it (as Re-Farmer suggested) like a walker. After some 30 minutes of it, my arms were sore and tired. But I don’t think my knee sustained any further damage.

Coming home and listening to the car radio, we heard a lot of kerfuffle about “the White House’s numbers” on projected deaths from the coronavirus. At no time did any of the nooze sources identify who in the White House was giving us these numbers. We kept asking “Who?” but never got an answer. It was as if the building itself were pontificating about the disease.

We got back just in time to see, in our local weakly noozepaper, that–hurrah!–our town’s library has hosted a Drag Queen Story Hour. Well, we wouldn’t want a trivial thing like a pandemic to interfere with that!

This, I think, is the worst thing that has ever happened to our country’s culture so far. That any parents should bring their children to one of these abominations is inexplicable.

O Lord our God! For Jesus’ sake, please remember that these things are done against our will, without our consent, and over our objections. Amen.

Oh, No! ‘Journalists’ Labeled ‘Non-Essential’!

Tucker Carlson: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is an Awful, Idiotic ...

Hundreds of, er, “journalists” have been labeled non-essential and either laid off or forced to take a pay cut, laments CNN (https://nationalfile.com/hundreds-of-journalists-are-being-labelled-non-essential-laid-off-or-given-reduced-salaries/). [Wailing and gnashing of teeth]

And this, CNN adds, “right when the public needs them most!”

Break out the violins.

Yeah–what would we ever do without our daily ration of Trump-bashing, scare stories, and celebrity worship?

Today’s alleged journalists, we might well say, are the quintessence of the non-essential. They are almost–almost!–as useless as career politicians. And who’s more obnoxious–our free and independent press that acts as a traveling brothel for the Democrat army, or–well, I can’t finish that sentence. I can’t think of anyone more obnoxious than our free and independent press.

If they actually provided us with accurate and reliable information, that’d be wonderful. But they don’t do that anymore. There are still a handful of good reporters out there, but those are fast becoming an endangered species.

They refuse to do their duty, and that makes them worse than non-essential. In attempting to address any problem in America, the left-wing boot-licking press is always an obstacle to have to overcome.

Tell-Tale Signs of Humanist Folly

Why is democracy better than Plato's philosopher King? - Quora

Some say the total fiasco resulting in the coronavirus pandemic is proof that globalism is not only a failure, but never could have been anything but a failure. I think that’s true.

But globalism is hyper-humanism’s holy grail, and they’re not about to quit on it.

Here are four signals that will tell you that you’re reading or talking to a hyper-humanist.

*Insisting that there is no God, hyper-humanists are more than eager to take on God’s job. They give themselves away by revealing their dogma that perfection can and will be achieved by… well, them. Imperfect human beings. They will create technology, societies, and political systems that are better, wiser, and more efficient than they are themselves. In their view, God couldn’t do it (because He doesn’t exist), but they will.

*Failed systems like communism and socialism won’t fail, no way, if they’re in charge! All those other poor saps in all those other countries all over the world–they just didn’t do it right. “But we will!”

*Because everything’s supposed to go right when The Smartest People In The World are in charge, if ever something goes wrong, it must be someone’s fault. Somebody let down the side. Some nay-sayer, biggit, hater, xenophobe, racist, trans-phobic deplorable must have screwed up somewhere. Probably on purpose.

*Everything “old” is useless and “on the wrong side of history.” Old stuff like Christianity, marriage, the family, nations, free enterprise: stuff like that. Everything “new,” that The Smartest People In The World just made up a few weeks ago–like 50 different “genders,” or, God forbid, a robot-controlled “social credit system” like they have in Red China’s workers’ paradise–that’s all good. That’s all on the right side of history.

Even one of these tell-tale signs, if you can spot it, should absolutely disqualify the writer or speaker from ever holding any public office or other position of responsibility.

Get these people out of power, and keep them out, before they come up with another pandemic. We probably don’t need philosophers and probably don’t need kings; but philosopher-kings are no use at all. And dangerous if swallowed.

UCal: You Can’t Say ‘Chinese Virus’

Jen Gerson: Don't fear the college student | National Post

This reads like a satire, but it isn’t.

The Council of Chief Diversity Officers (“Say it ain’t so. Joe!” “I’m afraid it is, kid”) for the University of California has issued a “guidance document” to tell students and staff how to talk about the Chinese Wuhan Communist Death Virus–

Oops. I wasn’t allowed to say that, was I?

Students and staff are forbidden to say “Chinese virus” and enjoined, “Do not allow”–allow? allow?–others to say it, either (http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3830546/posts). All are directed to be “supportive of a positive and inclusive campus climate during the COVID-19 crisis.” ‘Cause everything’s got to be inclusive, don’t you know.

No criticizing Red China, either. Well, the Chicoms have invested heavily in our colleges and looniversities. No biting the hand that feeds you. Even if it feeds you virus.

Oh! And staff and students are warned to steer clear of “racism, sexism, xenophobia and all hateful or intolerant speech.” You can still say “All heterosexual white males should die.”

Really! How does anybody with an ounce of self-respect manage to live in such an environment? College used to be for expanding your mind. Now it’s for shrinking it. Sort of like that vanishing white dot on your black TV screen when your power gets cut off. How can anybody with an ounce of pride consent to be lorded over by such a pack of babbling nitwits?

And pay a lot of money for it, too!

The Bodies Are on the Peapod Trucks!!!

Brooklyn Artists—Enter To Redesign Peapod Delivery Trucks - BKLYNER

The noozies’ latest left-wing narrative, which is already spreading like–well, like a virus!–is that “hospitals have refrigerator trucks full of dead bodies parked around back.”

Ah! But I have it on thoroughly impeachable authority that most of those tens of thousands of dead bodies coming each day out of our hospitals are being carted away on Peapod grocery delivery trucks!

“It’s been working like a charm so far,” said an idiot who has the papers to prove he’s an idiot. “So far, nobody has called the hospital, called their doctor, called the police, or called the funeral director to find out what’s happened to their loved ones. No supermarket employee has even noticed that the bodies are being stockpiled there. No one even dreams, when they see a Peapod truck in their neighborhood, that it’s carrying the dead.”

“This way,” he concluded, “the government can hide the truth–the fact!–that, because of Donald Trump, 710 million Americans have already died from the coronavirus. If you don’t see the bodies, you can’t count the dead.”

Left Freaks Out Over ‘My Pillow’ CEO’s Statement

My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell

Mike Lindell, founder and CEO of My Pillow, has announced that he will convert 75% of his production to antivirus masks, manufacturing 50,000 a day by the end of the week. But Democrats and noozies (is that a tautology?) are mad at him a) for supporting Donald Trump, our president, and b) for what he said the other day (https://thefederalist.com/2020/03/31/media-freaks-out-on-mypillow-ceo-mike-lindell-for-encouraging-americans-to-read-the-bible/).

Here’s what he said that got their noozie knickers in a twist:

“God gave us grace on November 8, 2016, to change the course we were on. God had been taken out of our schools and lives, a nation had turned its back on God. I encourage you to use this time at home to get back in the Word. Read our Bibles and spend time with our families.”

Oohhhh! Pretty vexatious, isn’t it? How dare he say such things? How dare he even suggest them? Betcha anything he’s taking away someone’s childhood. Does he not know that any mention of God or prayer or the Bible or anything religious is, like, unconstitutional? Where’s the ACLU? Somebody’s gotta sue this guy! Nobody should be allowed to say a thing like that!

And if we ever get a Democrat back in the White House, no one will.

CBS Fake News: Caught Again!

The victims in Lombardy, northern Italy, are being treated by doctors wearing hazmat suits

Ooh-ooh! Beds all over the place, never mind the wards! Doctors and nurses with more work than they could ever hope to do!

This, said CBS News last week–they had a video to go with it–is a New York City hospital overworked by the coronavirus plague. This, said CBS News, is America’s virus “epicenter.” Sounds scary, doesn’t it?

Except it wasn’t a hospital in New York City, it was a hospital in Bergamo, Italy, described as the hospital “hardest hit” by the pandemic–and the exact same video footage had already been shown three days earlier on the British news network, Sky News (https://summit.news/2020/03/30/cbs-news-uses-footage-of-worst-hit-hospital-in-italy-while-describing-new-york-coronavirus-outbreak/).

Oops. BTW, check the link above if you want to see and compare the footage.

CBS admits to showing video from Italy and saying it was from New York. For the record, Italy is the country that has suffered most from the virus. The death rate in Italy is many times the rate here in America.

But the whole cock-up was just an “editing mistake,” says CBS. Of course they weren’t trying to scare us into a state of such desperate fear as to panic us into voting for Democrats in November.

And I have a very nice bridge to sell you.

The Grocery-Shopping Stress Test

The Founder of Primal Scream Therapy Has Died. What Exactly Is ...

With the country reeling in the grip of the Chinese Wuhan Communist Death Monster, grocery-shopping at our local supermarket–sorry, I should say “supermarkets,” because now we’ve got to go to more than one–is getting to me, big-time.

It’s like being poor, only you still have money. You just can’t use it to buy the things you want because they aren’t in the store. It got a primal scream out of me today. Don’t worry–I was alone in my car.

The reason I was in the car was because I had to go back to the store. We needed some sliced roast beef, but the deli department wasn’t working. Instead, they had everything in a “grab and go” bin. And what I grabbed turned out to be wrong, so I had to go back. This time they served me some roast beef because their boss wasn’t looking.

But I also had to go to Whole Foods, for lettuce and paper towels. They only had past-lives recycled paper towels, which cost a mint, and no organic iceberg lettuce at all. And if you needed toilet paper–well, you know about toilet paper. There ain’t any to be had.

This is indescribably tiresome. The folks at the supermarkets are doing their best, and I’m grateful to them. But they can’t sell me what they don’t have.

It would be nice if I could believe any of the reports I find in our free and independent press, whose only mission in life is to help Democrats get back into power. The reports run the gamut from “We’re all gonna die!” to “It’s no big deal and the country’s overreacting,” plus every conceivable position in between. It makes for a rather surreal ambience.

I can only pray it’ll be over soon.

Are We That Old?

an/ was discussing old dinosaur art and struck comedy gold ...

No, not quite that old!

We were watching a movie yesterday when the phone rang. Only because we get so many of them every single day, at any hour of the day, I expected it to be yet another in an infinite series of robo-calls. “This is your final notice,” blah-blah-blah. “Final” as in ten thousandth time, with ten thousand more to come.

I was taken aback when it turned out to be a human being. She introduced herself, said she was part of a volunteer campaign here in town to check up on people, and how were we doing? This had me totally stumped.

Oh, wait! Suddenly I realized–I had forgotten we were senior citizens! Good grief, when did that happen? I’m so glad I figured out what was going on here before I could bite this woman’s head off. She meant well. And I’m glad I didn’t ask her to have anything done for us, because we don’t really need it while other people do.

This is a very strange time to be living through. It feels unreal. Who knows what to believe? What kind of weird resolution are we headed for?

Anyway, it annoyed me for a moment, but now I’m glad that someone’s doing it–calling people up to make sure they’re all right.

I’ll try to remember that I’m old.
