They’ll Be as Gods, All Right

(Thanks to my wife, Patty, and my editor, Susan, for a most stimulating conversation this morning.)

When the Emperor Caligula declared himself a god, he scared the living dickens out of all Rome for a while, until they’d had enough of it, and killed him.

But that was then, and this is now. Our age is infested with Caligulas, all professing to be gods. Not being as honestly daft as Caligula was, they use euphemisms. Experts. Scientists. Officials Who Listen To The Science. Their creed is captured in The Humanist Manifesto II: “Using technology wisely…” we can do jolly well anything. There ain’t no God, sweet-cheeks–but you’ve got us (!) to micromanage your world for you, and that’s better than Old Whatsisname!

Oh, they want their global government so bad, they can damned near taste it! They thought they had it, practically in the palm of their hands, one more election, one more little tiny bridge to cross–and then those racist-biggit-whitesupremacist-bitterclinger deplorables went and ruined the whole freakin’ thing by electing Donald Trump instead of the globalist gal, Hillary Clinton. Those wretched American people! They stole the election!

And then along comes the Gosh-I-Don’t-Know-Where-That-Came-From Virus (Dem-speak for the Chinese Wuhan Communist Death Virus from China), and that’s a challenge, don’t you know. If you’re gonna sit in God’s chair, you gotta meet God’s challenges.

Problem: Our anti-Christian ruling class, our globalist citizen-of-the-world ruling class, doesn’t much like us–well, all right: they hate us–and doesn’t much care if millions of us die (human sacrifices to Mother Gaea); still, they’ve got to put on a show. They’ve got to Do Something. So they’ll shut down our economy and try to keep it shut down until there’s no more disease.

Why didn’t they ever do this before, when there was a big pandemic raging? Why didn’t they do it in 1918?

Because, my wife said, because now they can! Now they’ve got the technology. Even more importantly, says I, they’ve got the ideology. It took a hundred years for the hubris to grow to this colossal size. A hundred years of rejecting God our Maker and our Judge. And now, Susan put in, they’ve got the religion for it. And it’s no religion you’re going to find in the Bible.

Make no mistake about it. Our globalist ruling class means not to serve us but to rule us, and to rule us hard, with a rod of iron. Once they get us down, they won’t let us up again.

We appeal to the God of the Book of Judges, who delivered Israel time and again from his enemies.

Five years of Pope Francis: Lots of style, little substance

I get nervous when he smiles.

Gee–what if the answer is “no”?

Well, catch what the Red Pope, Francis, has had to say about the Chinese Wuhan Communist Death Virus–and then you tell me he’s still Catholic (https://www.breitbart.com/health/2020/04/09/pope-francis-says-pandemic-is-natures-response-to-human-inaction-over-climate-change/).

The coronavirus pandemic is “certainly nature’s response to global warming.” (And also to “economic inequality.” Don’t leave that out! “Inequality” causes natural catastrophes.)

“I do not know if it [the pandemic] is nature’s revenge, but it is certainly nature’s response.”

“Nature is throwing a tantrum so that we will take care of her.” The earth “now cries out to us.”

Forget Catholic. Is this guy still a Christian?

He has also called upon the world’s people to switch to “a simple lifestyle.” Yeah! Put all those peasants back into the 12th century where they belong! Wonder how “simple” he thinks his own life ought to be.

Yeah, yeah, I know… Tomorrow the Vatican will be disavowing these remarks, he keeps ’em busy doing that, and that’ll be all until the next interview.

Oh! If only we had that glorious global government! They’d harness that fantastic Scientific power and soon put a stop to Climate Change! And the Pope, he could be the head honcho of a global religion to go along with global government!

And we have blundered into a Left Behind novel.

The most tragic thing of all would be if America were to emerge from the coronavirus scare without having learned anything from it.

Three Lessons That Must Be Learned

This column only begins to scratch the surface. There are lots of lessons here, all of them important. Socialism’s like this all the time–do we really want socialism? How badly do we need the transgender movement? Do we want to be governed, and told the “news” by, persons who fervently admire Red China and want us to be more like them? Do we let liberals get away with blatantly trying to make political capital out of this mess?

And just how badly do we want to keep the ruling class we’ve got?

It’s Starting to Scare Us

Which scares you more–the coronavirus itself, or the government’s response to it? In California they arrested a surfer who was alone on the water, hundreds of feet away from the nearest person, for violating “social distancing” commands. A government that does such things is not in its right mind. And some of us are growing fearful of people who obey crazy orders.

In 2002, eighteen years ago, Timothy Terrell penned this essay for Chalcedon:

In “Legitimacy and Intimidation,” Terrell wrote that “criminal behavior is a declaration of the autonomy of the individual and a rejection of God’s authority over human beings.” As submission to God’s laws goes out the window, a vicious circle comes in: the criminals get wilder and more violent, and the police rely more and more on massive force as a tool of intimidation. So you get the SWAT team smashing down your door at 4 a.m. because you jaywalked.

We worry that the curbs put on our freedom during the current crisis are going to prove too tasty to the government to give up when the crisis passes. “Hey! This is fun, ordering people’s behavior!” We also suspect that Democrats and their lapdogs in the nooze media are purposely trying to stretch out the crisis and scare us all silly in hopes of stampeding us into voting some Democrat psycho into the White House in November. Who honestly doubts they are capable of it?

Pray the Lord will exert His strength on us and bring us back to our senses, back to sanity: back to Him.

If we can learn important lessons from this crisis, we can come out of it a stronger country than we were going in.

‘Remove Them’ from Their Homes?

What happened the last time we listened to a snake?

This is getting out of hand and starting to resemble a globalist scheme to control people.

The World Health Organization–do you trust them? really?–has run up the flagpole a new wrinkle in the fight against the Brought-to-you-by-communist-China coronavirus (https://www.breitbart.com/health/2020/04/07/coronavirus-who-official-floats-removing-the-infected-from-their-homes-to-stop-spread/). To quote the WHO’s executive director:

“Now we need to go and look in families to find those people who may be sick and remove them and isolate them in a safe and dignified manner…”

Is this where the Second Amendment comes in handy? Do we really want strangers coming into our homes and making off with members of our families? Any guarantee we’ll ever see them again? Not that you should implicitly trust any guarantee offered by any gaggle of United Nations bureaucrats.

I had my doubts about this story, but so far it does seem to be true.

To which I believe we are bound to reply: Not in America, sunshine.

The list of things–like identity politics!–that we’ve cumbered ourselves with, and yet absolutely do not need–not in any way, shape, or form–is a very long one. But surely identity politics is way up near the top, along with transgender and Democrats.

1918: Looks familiar, doesn’t it?

Now is as good a time as any to remember the 1918 influenza epidemic–that killed some 20 million people worldwide, including 675,000 in the United States.

Otto Scott wrote this history lesson for Chalcedon in 1991. Since then several flu outbreaks, accounting for tens of thousands of deaths, have come and gone. And here in 2020 we’re stuck in the Great Quarantine.

The most important lesson is, we don’t control our destiny. No matter what The Smartest People In The World say, that’s a sheer delusion. Writes Otto Scott, “It is not our world; we neither own nor control it.”

It’s God’s world, and we’re just here on a short-term lease.

What? Out of Food?

Actually, if our supermarket was ever this crowded, I wouldn’t go.

The first nooze I heard this morning was, now they don’t want you going to the supermarket.

What are we supposed to do for food? In Venezuela they ate the animals in the zoo. In North Korea they ate the bark off trees. Mr. Socialism, grinning ear to ear, asks, “Are we there yet? Huh? Huh?”

We have very limited food storage space. So not only is it impossible for us to hoard groceries; we also would be ashamed to hog more than our share. (Yeah, yeah, don’t say it–we’re obviously crazy.) So we buy what we need. That’s how we wind up running out of stuff.

Well, off we go in search of food and other supplies. This has been imposed on us by Red China and its Western suck-ups and U.N. catamites. Those responsible must be made to pay for it.

But first we need groceries.

As the Chinese Wuhan Communist Death Virus ravages the land, Democrats are seeing one of their dreams come true–letting convicted criminals–even murderers–out of jail. They say it’s to protect them from the virus. But in fact, they want all that prison space for people who use the wrong pronouns.

But not to worry–an all-purpose right pronoun, good for all genders, has been invented. There’s no way to spell it, so I have included a video to demonstrate. We all love demonstrations anyway.

Hillary Clinton – nourishing obscurity

LEAD STORY, Oct. 19, 2021–

Chief Justice George Soros ruled yesterday that the “Thank You Tax,” payable to the Clinton Foundation, is “a perfectly constitutional response” to the second round of the coronavirus pandemic.

The other eight justices of the court were declared “non-essential” and sent home last week.

“It’s not like it’s going into my own pocket,” said President Hillary Clinton. “I only get just 5% of whatever the foundation takes in. That’s only 5% more than some deplorable out there!”

The “Thank You Tax” must be paid on any medicine, medical treatment, masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, or testing having to do with the coronavirus, now called Trump’s Damned Virus (officially renamed such last week by Congress). It must also be paid along with any purchase of food, clothing, or household items made by Republicans–“since it’s their party’s fault that we got this virus,” said Speaker of the House Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
