‘The Crime of… Plastic Straws!’ (2018)

What Can Adults Learn From Children? – Michael J. Fite

Remember this? Several California cities wanted to make it a crime–punishable to prison time!–to hand out plastic straws.

The Crime of… Plastic Straws!

Y’see, plastic straws were *Destroying The Planet*, every day some half a billion (!) of ’em were being handed out, we’re doomed, I tell you–doomed–!

Then they found out the “information” on which the policy was to be based came from a 9-year-old kid who’d phone some straw manufacturers to get some material for his school science project. The noozies, of course, were eating it up, never questioning the source (because they’re gonna Save The Planet, too)… Damn! We can’t chuck someone into prison for that!

It’s all crap. Everything that comes from liberals is crap.

It’ll be the firing squad next

I wonder if this policy is still in force: California state employees are not allowed to travel to any other states that big shots in California deem “hateful.” “Hate,” of course, meaning any failure to embrace with intense enthusiasm whatever Far Left Crazy tells you to embrace.

It Ain’t Hate When Libs Do It

Get it? If you work for California, you’re not allowed to travel in Red states. This should be hard, because from North Dakota to Texas is a solid barrier of Red states. How do they propose to get from California to Chicago or New York? Someone didn’t look at a map first.

But who expects California to make any sense?

Court to California: No, You Can’t Do That (Plus a Personal Experience)

“Case closed, take a hike!”

A Superior Court judge in Los Angeles has struck down California’s forced “diversity” law, which required corporate boards of directors to seat up to four women before the year is out (https://www.reuters.com/legal/legalindustry/california-law-requiring-women-company-boards-struck-down-2022-05-16/).

The judge found the measure blatantly unconstitutional, violating the requirement of equal treatment under the law. Judicial Watch called it one of many “unprecedented attacks on anti-discrimination law.”

This reminds me of an incident from way back in the 1970s. Some of us received a grant from Michigan State to start a magazine. To recruit editors and writers, we held a meeting, open to all, at which anyone who applied for a position would be given one–to show what he or she could do. Point is, we were turning no one away.

After the meeting, the guy who started the project said to me, “This is very bad! We have no black people on our editorial board. I don’t think we should publish, under the circumstances.”

Doh! “But Jove,” I protested. “There were black people here tonight. Any one of them could have had a position for the asking. Is it our fault none of them asked? What do you want to do–force them?” He grumbled a lot, but didn’t have an answer.

Doubtless this California court ruling will trudge its way to the Supreme Court, and then we can have more wackos demonstrating in from of judges’ homes. The fact is that “laws” like this are always tantamount to the same discrimination they’re supposed to put a stop to.

Haven’t we now got a vice president whose one and only qualification for the job was that she’s a Black Woman and that’s what they wanted? I mean, that was the only thing they wanted?

Well, for the time being a judge has told the state of California, “No, you can’t do that.”

‘Fiscal Fantasy’ (2012)

A burnt offering to the not-god of socialism

About the only thing that’s changed since I wrote this, seven years ago, as that the high-speed rail scheme, after burning through billions of dollars to no effect, went belly-up last year.

Fiscal Fantasy

All the dark-blue Democrat states are in serious financial trouble. It’s only a matter of time before California and Illinois go into receivership. Do we even know what happens if a state goes bankrupt? I knew a New Jersey town that went bankrupt in the 1930s and was almost a ghost town by the 70s–almost all of every tax dollar they collected went to pay off the debt. They had fifty years of dreary misery before getting out from under that.

“Yeahbut, yeahbut, yeahbut! Of course we can keep spending money we don’t have! We’ll either get it back in taxes or it’ll rain down from the sky!”

Nothing good can come of being governed by lunatics.

Don’t worry! It’ll never happen here…

Those horrible people on the Left–that’s what our Constitution protects us from. Can you imagine what they’d do to us, without it?

They Want to Own Your Conscience

Wipe out the Democrat Party in the next election, and Far Left Crazy loses all its power to hurt America.

Meanwhile, they want to own your soul.

I won’t forget the image of those Democrat wack-jobs clawing at the doors of the Supreme Court while Brett Kavanagh was being sworn in, and neither should you. What would they have done, if they could have broken down the doors?

Welcome to a fundamentally transformed America!

https://newswithviews.com/do-we-want-to-be-transformed/

Really, we must not allow this to continue.

My Newswithviews Column, Oct. 4 (‘Liberals and Suicide’)

Hum, baby, do the liberals love suicide! They are openly working to get our society to produce more of it.

https://newswithviews.com/liberals-and-suicide/

I’ve begun to wonder if they intend, eventually, to make suicide a spectator sport, or maybe a reality TV show.

You could now do that legally in California.

California Free Speech Killing Bill: On Hold for Now

Freedom and dignity are not natural to the inhabitants of a fallen world burdened with Original Sin. The California State Senate keeps trying to prove it.

Hence Senate Bill 1424, introduced by Stalinist wannabe Richard Pan, a bill to make “fake news” or “false information” published anywhere on the Internet a crime, punishable by imprisonment: you could go to jail for “questioning science” and voicing doubt about vaccines, Climbit Change, whatever (https://www.naturalhealth365.com/vaccines-fake-news-2536.html). You could even be jailed for questioning the dogma of Evolution.

After the details of this monstrosity were reported last month, raising a rather loud public outcry against it, the senate has rushed through several major amendments, the overall effect of which will be to “study” it all and kick it down the road to sometime next year. Wait till the heat dies down, then try again.

This bill was a beauty. Every Internet site–I guess that would include blogs, like this one–would be required to “verify” all news stories–the term “news story” is left undefined–before publication. Then, if designated “fact checkers” find any “false information,” up the river you go. No distinction is made between, say, maliciously fabricated mischief or an honest mistake. And we can only guess who would get to be the fact checkers. Oh–and who gets to decide what the “facts” are? Nancy Pelosi? Michael Moore?

This is a remarkable production by people whose academic position is that there is no such thing as truth, there are no facts, there are only psychological or social “constructs”–like your sex, for instance: which they insist is whatever you say it is from moment to moment–who yammer endlessly about “your truth” and “my truth,” only somehow their truth always wins and you get packed off to sensitivity training if you don’t agree–

But what are we thinking? Now they want to pack you off to jail.

How did our country’s political class ever produce such a pack of totalitarians as these?

It’s enough to give fascism a bad name.

Is California Still Here?

Did they already have the Big Quake, and is California broken off and drifting out to sea? Is that state still part of America?

Last week the California Legislature narrowly voted down a bill to drop George Washington’s birthday or Abraham Lincoln’s birthday as a paid state holiday and replace it with “International Workers Day”–the traditional communist/socialist “May Day.” But the bill did make it through committee and is on the docket for another vote soon. Maybe this time they can push it through.

If you actually need to tell anyone that communism has ever been anything but a pure disaster, you might as well save your breath. No point arguing with a stone.

Gee, I wonder if “International Workers Day” is gonna be part of that big Blue Wave that’s supposed to sweep these left-wing loons back into power over our country.

Pray that doesn’t happen: and work to stop it.

How Crazy Can California Get?

Image result for images of church being bulldozed

Are we in California?

The California state legislature is considering a bill to ban all books and speech “that violate LGBT priorities” (https://leeduigon.com/2015/07/11/abomination-video/). In fact, the bill has already sailed through two committees.

What do they mean? Well, writing or saying anything that could be construed as trying to encourage “sexual orientations change efforts”–like, for instance, quoting a Bible verse on repenting from sexual sin, or teaching your children that there are only two “genders” and all the rest is political poppycock. The bill makes it a crime to say or write such things–a crime to be punished by imprisonment. It would also allow the state to close churches, or even ban the Bible.

(“A funny thing happened to me on my way to North Korea. I wound up in California!”)

That the measure would be blatantly, flagrantly, boisterously, overpoweringly, and laughably unconstitutional seems to bother nobody in the California legislature. So it won’t survive a court challenge, unless the whole country’s gone as mad as California; but it’ll destroy some lives before it gets struck down.

Meanwhile, it does tell us, in no uncertain terms, where the Democrat Party is coming from and why it must never, never, ever again be permitted to take power over our country. Not ever.
