Censored! (That Would Be Me)

Well-nigh instantaneously, as I tried to post my weekly “Joe Collidge” piece on Facebook, I received the following message:

“Your message couldn’t be sent because it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive.”

What “other people”? Who had any opportunity to read it? I’d only just written it. Do they mean Mr. Algorithm?

I think I’ve figured out, though, which particular phrase set off the robot’s alarm bell. As an experiment, I’ll go back and try a minor edit. If it works, I’ll return to this post and add a P.S. In the meantime, I hope the picture of the happy puppies can spare me further censorship.

P.S.–I made the edit and still can’t post it. This time it’s some razzmatazz about not being able to download the message from my URL, whatever the deuce that means.

If any of you would like to experiment, try sharing the Joe Collidge post on your Facebook page and see what happens–and let me know.

My Newswithviews Column, March 7 (‘Creepy Little People’)

John Dewey introduced and preached the idea of schoolteachers as change agents. I wonder if he ever dreamed how many other groups of creepy little people would try to earn that title.

Yes, they’re out there in the shadows, changing our world out from under us, accountable to no one.

I’m sure their master, Satan, is pleased with their progress so far.

Inside Facebook’s Censorship Playground

See the source image

Creepy little people, nameless, faceless, all of them hidden behind the scenes, in places where they can reach out and screw up our lives–

Whoa! It’s not a nightmare. No waking up from this one. In fact, it’s a rather long article from Vanity Fair, Feb. 26: “Men Are Scum”: Inside Facebook’s War on Hate Speech” (https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/02/men-are-scum-inside-facebook-war-on-hate-speech). I have to admit it scared me. Scared me pretty good.

The author had a free pass to the deliberations of Facebook’s “shadow government.” You wanna know what that is? It’s a group of “Obama administration refugees [in their 30s and early 40s] eager to maintain some semblance of the pragmatism that has lost favor in Washington.” But this is a left-winger writing, so “pragmatism” doesn’t mean what you think it means. Not by a long shot.

Heading this little group is a former prosecutor, Monika Bickert, backed up by a few dozen “deputies.” They all think they’re very important! And they are, I guess: they get to decide what some 2 billion people can or can’t say on Facebook.

Here are some of their detectable presuppositions–this is what makes them scary.

They really believe they have the right, the wisdom, and the authority to decide what people ought to be allowed to say.

They believe government has the authority to sort its people into groups and rank the groups according to whatever standard the government thinks is just. Thus some groups have greater rights than others.

They believe “rights” are granted by government, not by God, and that it’s one of government’s jobs to decide which group’s rights get to be queen for a day on any given day.

Oh, and all those new “genders”–they’re all real. If you think it’s only male and female, you’re a Hater.

And of course they believe there is such a thing as Hate Speech, that it should be silenced–then there won’t be any hate, right?–and that it’s government’s job to define it and stifle it.

And in all of the above, for “government” read “Facebook.”

So I’ll have to post a picture of a puppy up above this article, or one of those faceless little gawnks will censor me.

Another Blogger Censored by Facebook

See the source image

The puppy is here to protect me from being censored.

Our friend Caralyn, at beautybeyondbones.com , is the latest to be censored by Facebook–simply for taking a pro-life stance against New York’s new law permitting late-term abortion right up until the moment of birth.

Caralyn posted what she describes as “a passionately pro-life” message on her blog, “Nightmare in New York” (https://beautybeyondbones.com/2019/01/28/andrew-cuomo-nightmare-in-new-york/), on Jan. 28. It was passionate, all right; but it contained no incitement to violence, no profanity, no personal abuse of anyone involved. She merely voiced an opinion shared by tens of millions of Americans. In short, there was nothing there that invited censorship; but Facebook banned her anyway. Four times she tried to advertise her post; four times Facebook shut her down.

“Evil is on the prowl in New York,” she wrote. She was appalled by the enthusiasm with which Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed abortion expansion into law. Cuomo, as she pointed out, is “a professing Catholic”; and she strongly criticized New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan who “has done nothing publicly” to, er, remind Cuomo that what he has advocated is a sin–murder–and dramatically opposed to all Catholic teachings.

What? She’s not allowed to say that? You can think it, but you can’t say it? What kind of public discussion of a controversial issue bans a whole side of the argument?

Doctrinaire “conservatives,” who never seem all that interested in conserving anything, will disagree with me: but I’m now convinced that the social media giants, including Facebook, need to be subjected to some kind of antitrust action. They are functioning as a monopoly, trying to ensure that only Far Left opinions can be published. Given the importance of the social media in what ought to be a public dialogue, it must not be allowed to be a monopoly. Trump administration, we need you to put a stop to this.

If all the news outlets in America were owned by the same few people, and presented only one side of any issue, and stifled all dissent, we would think our country was being very poorly served. That is not what our founders intended when they wrote freedom of the press into the First Amendment.

I can only believe that the left-wing social media resort to censorship because they’re afraid our side will win the argument.

If you voted for any Democrat in the last election, here’s another close-up look at what you voted for. It’s distressing that any of these monsters got elected at all.

They’re certainly not bothering to conceal their true intentions anymore, unless you want to count Elizabeth Warren slurping beer as she imitates a human being.

How I Got Un-Censored

See the source image

Well, now my post, “Boiling-Over Hypocrisy,” has been successfully published on Facebook. You are probably wondering how I managed that.

I hypothesized that maybe the problem was not what I said in the post, but the photo I used to illustrate it. As an experiment, I replaced that splendidly applicable illustration with a picture of a happy puppy. And voila–now suitable for Facebook!

Here are some more happy puppies, to keep me from getting censored again today. Pictures of celery stalks are also a safe bet, probably.

I conclude that Facebook, or its robot, censored the photo, not the text. See no evil, as the saying goes.

Reminds me of a friend of mine whose dashboard oil light kept going on; so he solved that problem by taping a piece of paper over the light. You can probably intuit the eventual fate of his car.

I’ve Been Censored

See the source image

My essay on “Boiling-Over Hypocrisy” cannot be posted on Facebook… because it violates FB’s “Community Standards.” I would love to know what “community” they’re talking about.

Maybe it’s the photo I chose to illustrate the post. True, it’s an offensive picture. That’s why I picked it. It offends me. It also happens to be a factual example of what I’m talking about.

Somehow “hate” is never “hate” if it’s practiced by leftids.

Now let’s see if this post is censored, too.

Why Didn’t Facebook Censor That?

Image result for images of guillotine

A Democrat Party apparatchik in Minnesota has been suspended without pay for a week after posting this little zinger on Facebook: “11.7 [day after Election Day]–bring them [Republicans] to the guillotines” (https://apnews.com/cd7c880bf8bb4d94a95512b756a0e23e). The state party commissar took pains to state that Democrats do not, in fact, propose to murder Republicans in the wake of next month’s elections. We are at liberty not to believe this disclaimer.

But my question is, “Hey, Facebook! How come you didn’t censor that? Ya mean that wasn’t hate speech? That wasn’t advocating violence?” Oh, he was just kidding–!

If a Republican had said that about Democrats, Facebook would have banned him for life.

Get this through your heads, boys ‘n’ girls. Up against the Mob Rule Party, America faces a stacked deck. The game is crooked from the get-go. Motivated solely by a lust for power, fueled by rage, there is nothing they won’t do–short of murder–to get back into control of the country. We guarantee there will be more Democrat votes cast than there are Democrat voters.

In 2016 they cheated like crazy and still lost, largely because they believed their own propaganda and thought Witch Hillary was a shoo-in. We can’t count on them making that mistake again. We can count on them cheating even more.

They must never, never, never be allowed to win again.

Facebook: Clueless

Facebook stock is tanking, losing billions of dollars–and they still don’t have a clue. For instance:

Cable talk show host Alex Jones has been banned for 30 days for “violating Facebook’s Community Standards” against “bullying” (defined as physical intimidation) and “hate speech” (any speech less than supportive of liberals’ pet social re-engineering projects). We are not told what, exactly, Jones said or did that constituted these supposed violations. They don’t even bother to try to describe whatever his offenses were. “Hey, we’re Facebook, take our word for it!”

But their word isn’t good enough.

Meanwhile, rogue Congresswoman Maxine Waters is out there urging people to mob members of the government–uh, that would be physical intimidation, wouldn’t it?–if they dare appear anywhere in public. She wants people to be “out in the streets screaming… Do something. Make something happen.” What do Democrats call that–love speech?

But nobody’s banning Maxine Waters.

Personally, I’m not a member of the government, not anybody who’d be recognized in public–but I am convinced it would be virtually suicidal on my part to try to walk past any crowd being addressed by Maxine Waters.

And I don’t appreciate it.

And I will vote for anyone who promises, believably, to make it stop.
